Two by two going to a funeral!!

i'm sitting at home watching cricket on the box( i know that's sad) and look out of the window and who do i see but two sets of people walking down the street calling on peoples houses.

yes jehovah's witnesses.. the weird thing is that they are walking even slower than people in a funeral march.

they look just as unhappy as if someone has just died.. also why do they go house to house in twos.

The weird thing is that they are walking even slower than people in a funeral march. They look just as unhappy as if someone has just died.

Also why do they go house to house in twos. I can understand if it was an area where there could be trouble but lets face it most places are not like that.

Considering they are meant to be engaged in an urgent life saving work there whole demeanor says the opposite namely no hurry at all, miserable as hell and speaking to 50% less people than they would if they worked singly.

Is this the way it is in other areas I would be interested in your comments

Letter to my brother

a couple of weeks ago i sent a letter to my older brother that has shunned since last year.

i never belived that i would get a response, but i did.. i have written all of this in swedish, but im gonna try to translate it as good as i can.

Alex I really feel for you. Try not to blame your brother for his attitude, he is simply doing what he has been told to by a man made organisation.

The July 2009 awake is very good. Obviously the witnesses will always read their own material, and the article on page 29 is very clear it says ''No one should be forced to worship in a way that is unacceptable or be made to choose between his beliefs and his family''

Maybe you could try posting the Awake or just the page to him, highlighting the relavant paragraph. No witness can resist reading their own magazine article. Anyway good luck and remember most witnesses see the light at some time in their life. I just hope it comes soon for you. Hang in there.

my experience?

in the past few years, i liked to research stuff on the internet for talks.

and for experiences, i used to google jw's to see news articles.. then one day last year, i saw this site, and it said that it discusses anything related to jw's.

I had already been out for about10 years when I came upon this site. I have learnt so many things since joining. Before, I just new the Watchtower was wrong on a few things , now I know there is practically nothing they have got right.

One thing we all need to watch I think and that is not slagging them off without showing clear proof why we are doing it, because most of us on this site are here to help others see how wrong the societyare. We don'y want witnesses viewing the site and just think we are a bitter load of ex witnesses.

Talked to a Servant about.false prophecies...answer = My house is always full of Brothers?!

spoke to a close minsterial servant friend a year ago about why i did not attend the convention...told him about the blood hypocracy..we are disfellowshiped for donating but can freely use many litres to amke "fractions"....the false prophecies 1914, 1918, 1925,1975, the generation" ...showed him russells pyramid and bethsarim, his answer....."look i don't worry about those things too much, my house is always full of brothers and sisters"..........my response .

i went to his cong 6 months ago and my "friend" for 15 years snubbed me....gave me a dirty lool at did not speak to me, and his wife went home early to avoid me...nice!.

Unfortunately being logical is not the witnesses best quality.

There are now so many things that simply do not make sense like the examples you gave plus the constant hypocrisy when they say one thing to the public then say or do something completely different to the rank and file.

Jehovah's Witnesses apparently have the highest amount of any other religeon of people who come in then leave when they find out all the things they were not told when they were studying.

My 30 year old son is still in and I'm sure it as that mini. servant said ''my house is always full up with brothers and sisters''. Socially it is great if you don't mind living a lie. That is why I left and hopefully one day my son will see the light as well.

I think the society say the 1000 year reign will start after all wickedness is removed at Armageddon. Even so it raises the question what has Jesus been doing for the last nearly 100 years. Time is the greatest enemy of the borg. As every year goes by they are looking more and more stupid.

How do you feel when you see groups of Jehovah's Witnesses in the ministry?

regret, anger, frustration?

how about sadness, sorrow, sympathy, understanding, even compassion!.

it can be quite confusing at times, especially if some of those witnesses were your friends.

My immediate feeling is I wish I could go over to them and show them how they are being misled. I can't do that though because I have faded for my son's sake who is still a witness and they would simply report me to the elders there would be a confrontation and I would be disfellowshipped.

Much as I would love to tell all at the kingdom hall why I am not with them anymore I can't. My hands are tied. This is one horrible religeon.

currently they teach the planet itself, as a mass, possibly existed for millions and millions of years, thus agreeing with science findings about the age of the earth.

On the basis of the length of the seventh “day” it is therefore reasonable to conclude that each of the other six “days” also was a period of 7,000 years. As has been stated, the society seem to have quietly disgarded what they said in the past about each creative day being 7000 years long.

For those that don't know, the reason this was said is because they believed 1975 would be the end of 6000 years of mankind's existance. Add on the 1000 year reign of christ and you get 7000 years, therefor they reasoned each creative day must have been 7000 years ago. They were certainly saying this in the 1980s but like so many things, they have had to change what they have said because they have been proved wrong by modern science.

Belief in the resurrection trivializes death

recently, a@g started a thread called "a belief in an afterlife is the most dangerous of all beliefs".

i have been thinking about the necessary consequences of a belief in the afterlife, particularly a belief in the resurrection as envisioned by jehovah's witnesses.

i came to some of the conclusions that a@g did and this post was originally meant to be a response on that thread, but i went off topic a bit and i didn't want to spoil the point lance was trying to make.. .

It's a good point. Some of the things we read in the bible seem absolutely horrendous, but then when you say to yourself ' O well these people will be resurrected to either heaven or earth', somehow that makes it ok. Of course it is not ok and it is not just witnesses that think this way, it's also true in many other religions. With the witnesses it has the effect of stopping them trying to improve life for themselves or their fellow humans.They are taught to help people only spiritually which means it does not matter what happens now it is after death that is important. A very sick and dangerous outlook on life.

Want to Introduce myself....Hi everyone.

hi all, i've been reading here for awhile and made a few posts before realizing i should probably introduce myself.

it's so refreshing to read ppl's thoughts on these topics, which run deeply personal, and i've never been able to express myself freely, so thanks for such a great forum.. i was born and raised a dub, by my "spiritually single" mother (dad was an unbeliever..still is) me and my 3 other siblings all fell away before getting baptised, other than my older sis, who was df'd at 16. unfortunatley in my early 20's a sister "took an interest in me and we had a bible study for 2 years before getting baptized at 24.

(what a regret) since then i floundered, flopped, got df'd a year later for dum, dum, dum..."fornication and then reinstated 9 months later.

Hi ilovelamp120 (great name) Welcome to the board. There are many here that will be ablle to identify with your story. It sounds like you have had a pretty hard time. Like you there are many who are realizing that the society does not have the truth and for that reason there is little or no increase in the internat savvy countries. Personally I think there will always be a market for what they have to sell but also there will be many who come to their senses and get out of it.
