  scan your bible and you probably won't find the term spirit-directed.

  i searched for that term online and could not find a dictionary that defines it.

  I believe that when they say the governing body is spirit directed, it simply means that they (supposedly) base all they say on the bible that was written by inspired men. That's how they can say it is spirit directed. It is also the reason that they make so many errors, because if they interprate something wrong, it just means they are relying more on their own understanding rather than using the bible to decide something.

  It would be interesting to ask them if they feel anyone else could be spirit directed!

  The story certainly shows the cruel side of the JW religion, and especially how members are programmed to do whatever the society ask.

  Unfortunately, many times the article it speaks about members having to sell books.

  Now we now know that they do not sell books. Most times literature is taken and offered to a householder, and if they respond they may be asked if they would like to donate. However most times these days , the witness takes care of the expense, so it is wrong to say members sell books or magazines.

  The article would have been good to show a witness had it not been for that. As it is because of the false statement about selling, no witness would listen or learn from it. When speaking to witnesses you need to have every fact correct, if not they will jump on it and reject all the other true points that have been made.

  porn also makes you turn into a sexual deviant who is likely to become a homosexual, rapist or peadofile.. .

  porn has specail powers that once viewed allows the demons to get into your mind and start controling it!!.

  Don't you remember in the Jan 1942 edition of the Watchtower there was a case of a man who viewed porn in a magazine, being possessed by a demon and through himself off a cliff. lol

  JW's are so hot on their views being respected but they do not respect anyone elses!

  jw's face a tide of "no"s and "not interested"s everytime they go banging on the doors, surely it would have occurred to them by now that the vast majority of the public don't want to know and don't want them at their doors.

  but do they acknowledge or listen to this?

  regardless of wether they have priviously been told not to call or not still they come.. they claim that its because jesus has comanded them to do so.

  In my are there are signs saying no cold calling. In other words you don't call on someone without an invitation. Unfortunately I'm told it does not apply to religious callers

  I quite often go onto the JW topix website. Absolutely after any catastrohe the JWs are jumpling up and down saying the end is near. They make up their own rules about Jesus sign. Anything negative and the big A is imminent

  Broken promises. I presume you understand that some people know more about a subject than others. Barbera and some others on this site have worked very closely with the governing body in the past. Will they be better informed than someone who just reads about it? Of course they will.

  In any facet of life, there are ones who know the subject better than the ordinary man in the street. So nothing whatsoever to do with a heirarchy, just common sense to pay attention to someone who has a lot more experience on the subject than us. (been there got the teashirt!)

  couple of thoughts..... - i know they aren't in it for the money, but not a single member of the gb was wearing less than a $700 fitted suit.

  might have been more expensive and tailored, couldn't tell.

  The society have released a second dvd at the witnesses district assemblies.

  The thing that is very clear to anyone who has an open mind ,is that the society only show what they want people to hear in the dvd. Most of their past errors are never mentioned.

  interesting comment on the talk page of the wikipedia article on the governing body here:.

  one dopey jw (wandering-teacher) who complained that the article was "biased" against the jws was supported in a comment by another assumed jw (galik) who whined that the article was "peppered with quotes from known opposers of jehovah's witnesses in order to use this article as a propaganda vehicle".. wandering-teacher replied: "thanks for the support, galik.

  the difficulty of having a neutral point of view in the ... article strengthens my faith that i have made the correct religious choice for me.".

  From the very first bible study they have, JWs are told they will get opposition.

  What they do not tell you or understand, is that any opposition is normally from friends and family who do not want you to ruin your life by becoming involved in a religion that takes away your identily and proper reasoning powers.

  How to identify a JW from a distance

  much has apparently been said in recent years about how a "good" jw should be dressed and groomed, so as to be easily identified - even from a distance.. yesterday, while driving through town, i did see two people the distance:.

  - and certainly, by the way they were dressed, my suspicions were aroused.. - however, what confirmed their identity was not their dress and grooming.

  rather, as i drove up closer, i noticed both of them doing the "pioneer shuffle" up somebody's driveway:.
