I still dont like all the commercialism of xmas. In fact i go away to India for a long holiday most Decembers.

Murmurs from the locals
by Moster ini was ministered to by several different people at a jw funeral i attended today.
one older lady said to me, "you know the end is right around the corner, just look at the state of the world today".
i said, "well yes but that has been the mantra for decades, remember 'stay alive till '75'".

Sisters
by truthlover123 induring the first talk tonight, the brother giving the talk indicated that now comments were to include sisters!
previously mostly only brothers were mentioned in most prayers or comments - has anyone else heard this tonight?.
the meeting seemed to be positioned directly to and about sisters.

Both women and men are able to comment at meetings. They just dont allow the women to stand on the platform and directly teach the congregation. No reason why women cant be mentioned in prayers or the men.

Is this something new?

a person who has been studying found out some things on line about the witnesses and decided to not get baptized and stopped attending the meetings.
she lives with a witness.

I guess her mistake was saying she had made a dedication prayer to God. But yes they are getting desperate to silence anyone who finds out about their past and present stance on things.

Broadcasting move part 2
by Gorbatchov ini think this is not an unimportant observation.. with the move of the broadcasting channel to the library part of jw.org the broadcasting are away from the general public.
so the obscure gb video's about strange mathers are not out to the open anymore with a simple click to tv.jw.org.
only the rank and file will find them easily.. i think this was the objective of the change.. g..

Anyone who is interested in the monthly broadcasting can find it very easily on the jwdotorg site. Maybe its just a money saving exercise.

I would say, the reason the org want to approve witnesses for the public witnessing work is because they are talking about working with the carts. They dont want to chance having someone on them who is half hearted or who likes to get into debates. They want the witnesses on the carts to just sit there, wait for someone to approach, and only converse with someone if there is a chance of conversion.

If I remember correctly Geoffrey Jackson didnt dismiss the idea out of hand when it was presented to him at the ARC. But I would have been very surprised if Watchtower had joined a scheme like this. They dont give anything away unless they have no choice.

as we were walking to the coffee place we passed a lady and i mentioned that "she lived on my street , near my house.

That is exactly the way to get JWs to think. Once we openly have a go at their religion, they are trained to simply walk away. So you just ask a non confrontational question. It could even be done with the sex abuse problems that JW has. We can just say we were reading about what has been happening in the Catholic church with child sex abuse, and pose the question I wander if it is occurring in other religions as well. Also say how easy it is to check now days, by going on google. That may just be enough to get someone to check themselves if their religion has the same problem.

The org are desperate to hang onto people who are baptised and generally ok with the governing body. The org are trying all sorts of ways to keep these in. Main thing is telling them not get into debates with anyone. Once they perceive that somebody is asking too many questions, the jdubs are told to walk away. We are seeing this on the doors, with the carts and also with people who phone kingdom halls with questions.

by Athanasius inthe watchtower's many legal problems and the jws' use of carts in their preaching work, reminded me of a scene and dialog from the film patton.. in a scene where patton is viewing a battle site the morning after, he says to an aide about the nazis: “you know how i know that they're finished out there?
in my dreams i saw the carts.
they kept buzzing around in my head and i couldn't figure out why.

The large increase before 1975 had nothing to do with more JW children, it was because of people converting from other faiths. However now Im sure that any small increase mainly comes from JW kids getting dipped.
