as you know i talked with an elder and his wife who came to my door for 30 minutes about it.

Intercepting JW's on the 4th of July! Oh what fun!
by HadEnuf ini must tell you an interesting story from today.
gary and i went thru a drive-thru for breakfast and were sitting at our local park (in the car) enjoying our high fat, high cholesterol breakfast when, low and behold, here comes a group of jw's sloooooowly checking out the area.
(this is right by the river on the green circle trail, which is a favorite place for joggers, walkers, bikers, etc.

GOOD FOR YOU!
It seems that you were able to "educate" a few interested bystanders, along with the fisherman, about the under-belly of the WTS! I would have given anything for my JW friend to have heard both sides of the coin, BEFORE she became too involved to listen to someone who has been burned by the organization.
You did a great thing. By the way, most fishermen I know love good stories to tell. This will be a good one he can tell his buddies and then they will have a heads-up on the WTS too!

Another J W e mail
by NikL ini noticed another thread on this site relaying a stupid e mail making the rounds of dubdom.. well i just got this one and i thought i would share.... powerful illustration.
after the prayer, the local elder slowly stood up, walked up to the.
platform and, before he gave his public talk, he briefly introduced a guest.

Maybe some one already posted what I am about to point out.
I remember a pastor reading this story in a church I attended. He gave the actual names of the people involved, etc... Funny thing is, it was NOT a Jehovah's Witness story. It was a regular old Christian. This guy must have read or listened to the Chistioan version and decided to adapt it to his own religion. (Is that allowed?!)
The JW gurus who tried to indoctrinate me also twisted a few stories like this. I'm quite sure they were telling them just as they were told, but they weren't privy to searching the net, so they didn't know the stories had been out for awhile, how to find out where they originated, and whether they were true or not (or if they were actually about the JWs).

I've never been a JW, so from the outside looking in, this all seems so much like a religious group of "tattle-tales". My natural response to something like this would be, "Mind your own business! I'll be there when I want to, and if I want to do something else, it's none of your darn business!"
How do they train peope to tattle on each other like this? Do some JWs feel bad about telling on their friends?
I've been reading a book called A Brother's Journey by Richard Pelzer. He is the brother of David Pelzer, who wrote A Child Called IT. It is horrific story of the unspeakable abuse these kids went through. Richard was under the fearful control of his mother. Sometimes when he would have a bad day at school, etc... he would plant a sandwhich in the basement where his brother was kept, and then go tell his mother, just so his brother WOULD get abused. He said that after feeling powerless at school, it gave him a sense of power and control at home. He is very ashamed of it now, but then it didn't seem bad. He knew it kept her scope off of him, his brother was considered a nothing, and it was just the way things were. Until his brother was taken away. Then her scope was set on him.
Is that what it is like? By telling on someone else, you keep the scope off of yourself? You can dodge bulletts, by making sure the gun is aimed at someone else? And there is a feeling of superiority and control by having that power?
There has to be something that is a payoff for the person who is doling out this abuse to other members of the congregation.
I'll be so happy when my friend finally gets her release from this group.

How about the WTS book called "MIllions Now Living Will Never Die"?
I think on pages 89-90 it even gives a specific date for their return. 1925.
I remember reading somewhere in WTS materials that the return was expected within months, not years. But I'm not sure which book that was in. (I know it was a LONG time ago, so I guess they got that one wrong too!)

How Would You Approach a JW "studying" in Public Transportation?
by GermanXJW ini get to the office by train.
recently, when i left the train at my destination station i noticed a jw, sitting there, obviously "studying" the "revelation"-book for the night's cbs.
it was too late for my, but i was thinking about saying something like "don't you get it at the third time that this is bullshit?

I think I would figure out a way to look like an interested by stander. Then try to get them to answer the hard stuff...
Tell them you are interested in different religions, and ask them about the history of the WTS. If your are lucky, they will come up with the 5th Chapter of the Proclaimer's book for you, and you could point stuff out:
Wow! So CT Russell was an Adventist? What's this mean when it says he taught the LORD's TRUTH, not his own? Since he taught the LORD's truth was Jesus returned in 1874, is that what the LORD's truth is today? It isn't! Did God get it wrong? Hmmm.........
You get the idea. There are so many questions you can ask as a innocent by stander, and you already know all the responses, so you could have a profound effect. Just be sure to be kind and not act like you know too much. Let them try to answer the questions that aren't in the "book".
Get around to the fall of Jeruslaem. That seems to be a real gear-turner in the mind.
Go for it!!!!!!!!

Tee shirt with foolish WT quotes, I will wear to reunion with witnesses
by dawg inas many of you know, i've been writing letters to family members telling them how damn stupid i think the gb is; providing proofs of all their comedic gaffs (building mansions for prophets and the like) including some of their most outlandish quotes-which i know all of us can remember verbatim.
spurned on by mary and others in this site, i've decided that i will try a new ploy.
my family reunion is every labor day and i've decided to wear a tee shirt to it with russell, rutherford, and franz's images on it... i will include images of a pyramid, beth sarim, on the front and 607?

Proclaimer's of God's Kingdom: pg.47 paragraph 2; CT Russell taught: Jesus Christ's invisible presence dated from the autumn of 1874. paragraph 3 says he needed more to keep the seeds of truth he was sowing alive and watered.
QUESTION: If the "Lord's truth" was that Jesus came back in 1874, and Russell proclaimed it world wide, why does the WTS now teach that Jesus returned in 1914? Doesn't God know when his own Son came back?

It doesn't matter who you are, or what religion you belong to:
The fall of Jerusalem happened when it happened. It's a historical FACT. Show me reputable, historical evidence OUTSIDE of the WTS that proves the fall of Jerusalem was in 607 BCE, and I'll kiss your butt in the middle of Brooklyn!

I think it would be helpful for people to understand a little about how to EFFECTIVELY speak to JWs.
How to ask, rather than tell. Not to atack them, but learn some good questions they could ask that might break through the mind control.
A list of what we do that hurts, and what we can do that helps. Attacking them and saying they are a cult will only hurt. Asking them about the history of the WTS may help. Especially when they bring out the 5th Chapter of the Proclaimer's book, and you can point out: "Wow! Your founder taught that Jesus returned in 1874? He taught that as "the Lord's truth"? Is that what you teach now? If it was the Lord's truth then, shouldn't it STILL be the Lord's truth?" Stuff like that.
If more people knew how to ask civil, non-confrontational questions that would make JWs do some research and think for themselves, I think that would help more than anything.
