Jehovah's Witnesses member gets 18 months for sexually assaulting girls
by Dogpatch injehovah's witnesses member gets 18 months for sexually assaulting girls http://www.canada.com:80/saskatoonstarphoenix/news/story.html?id=55699668-7192-45c0-bd2f-7fd57b481d07betty ann adamthestarphoenix.com.
friday, november 21, 2008. almost 19 years after elders of a jehovah's witnesses congregation learned a member of their church had groped and fondled two adolescent girls, a queen's bench judge sentenced the man friday to 18 months in jail.. "even if the sexual assault did not include intercourse, in my opinion a sentence of imprisonment is necessary to denounce this type of crime upon children and deter others from committing similar acts," justice neil gabrielson wrote in his decision handed down at court of queen's bench.. the 45-year-old man pleaded guilty last month to two counts of sexual assault against the extended family members between 1987 and 1991, when they were between 12- and 15-years-old.. the man, whose name cannot be published because it might identify the complainants, was also sentenced to two years probation, during which he is not allowed to be alone with anyone younger than 18, except for his son, who is 16. .
he will be added to the national sex offender registry for 20 years and his dna profile will go into the national data bank.

This clown gets 18 months, and these girl's get LIFE. He forever changed them.
Too bad the parents and the WTS can't be equally charged as accessories to the crime.
I wonder what would have happened if he had stolen MONEY from the WTS? If they would have been as willing to turn a blind eye? Put his filthy hands THERE, and see what happens!

Where are most of the people here going to go now? I would love to stay in contact. When is the final day?
Of course, I just found out and am still in shock. Now the panic of losing touch with friends I only know on this forum and only know how to contact through this forum is setting in.
How do we stay connected?

Send them to me!!!!
Seriously!
But if that doesn't sound good to you, then you might want to find out which ones have the most coveted flip flops, etc... and you can actually sell them on ebay.
Personally, I would epsecially like to have the ones that speak about Blood/ Medical issues.
It's also fun to go through and see how often they repeat the same exact things over and over and over.... Read the magazines for one year, and you know everything the WTS teaches, because they just hammer the same things in the ground. But do they try to brainwash folks? Oh, no-no-no. (Yeah, right!)
And pick a part the mistakes they make in Biblical doctrine. How they take verses out of context, etc...
If you decide you would like to send them to me, I'll even pay shipping...hint, hint!

Maybe you could explain that some things didn't make sense to you, and you needed answers, which you did not receive. If you do that, She may want to know what your questions were and you could begin a dialogue. If she thought she could rope you back in my explaining things, she might be open to speaking to you. THEN you could ask her the questions....have her teach you what SHE needs to know! Maybe see what the folks here on JWD found to be the most effective, and the different ways to ask, with the right attitude.
I agree that you probably want to leave off the "following blindly" part. Anything that would kick up the defenses would not be constructive. Do you remember Columbo? He is my model. Never offended anyone, but got to the truth by asking all the right questions with a very humble and kind attitude.
Your Granny is sure fortunate to have you. I pray she will be back in your life and free one day soon!

Just received the latest Free Minds Journal...thinking of sending pg.11 out
by whyizit ini've had a few light and heavy conversations (always peaceful, always "asking" rather than telling), with my jw friend.
i just received the latest free minds journal and wondered about sending "anonymously" page 11 to her.
it gives all the flip-flops of what a generation is, according to the wts.. we have touched on a variety of subjects that she just knew the wt could explain, but alas they could not!

Just a quick note:
I know that the WTS still doesn't allow birthdays. But my friend, who previously agreed with them, has now started celebrating them anyway. That is what I meant. That SHE is wishy-washy on some of their teachings now, where as before, she was a staunch follower of all that the WT gods had to say.
Now she shows signs that she isn't buying it all, yet she never says anything negative and still goes to all their shin-digs.

We have touched on a variety of subjects that she just knew the WT could explain, but alas they could not! She is still attending, however, she has become a little more wishy-washy. Birthdays were "absolutely out", but now they are back in. Things like that.
I figure every little piece of information is another piece of the puzzle that might keep her mental wheels turning. I thought about simply photo copying page 11, without any comments, and figure she will read it, because it is all WT propaganda.
What do you think? Bad idea...if so, why? Good idea? Could be one way or the other? Worth a try? Would just like some in-put.
Also, any suggestions of WT materials that made you have second thoughts the moment you saw them would be appreciated it!
Thanks!

How do JW's react when learning that Jehovah is not part of Christianity?
by oompa injehovah this, jehovah that......6 times per page in the old testament.
but oh how few jw's know that the name jehovah does not even appear in the christian greek scriptures....or new testatment as i prefer.
i used to be so proud of our real bible, the nwt for restoring the divine name thousands of times in the ot.

Most Christians simply do not understand what JWs are talking about 2/3 of the time, they don't know how to discuss anything with a JW, and they quite frankly don't know that it is that big of an "issue".
It's like someone telling you that they address God as Yahweh. Giving you the hoopla about how that is His REAL and proper name. Duh...ok. No argument. That's a way to address God. yep. Gotcha!
They don't "get" that it is considered wrong that other people call Him Father, Lord, or God. Yahweh, that's what you call him. Lovely. I call Him that too, sometimes. We don't see that as meaning there is no other way to address God.
Since Christians aren't usually sitting in church hearing sermons about why everyone else is wrong, but are instead hearing the Gospel, learning about salvation and why people need it, we don't understand it when someone's focus is on how you address God. We figure Jehovah is a really smart guy, HE knows who we are talking to! He's powerful too. He does not let Satan take away prayers intended for Him.
That's why I think you don't hear Christians at the door saying much. They don't know what JWs believe. They figure they're another denomination with a lot of legalistic rules. They don't know they think Jesus is Michael, Demons are in churches waiting to pounce, you can't give or receive blood, etc.... and if you join up, you can never leave in peace.
JWs don't exactly mention all of that the first time they knock on your door.
Educate the Christians in your area. If you teach them how to ask thought-provoking questions, they will do it! They just don't know what to say or how to say it. Former JWs are the best ones to show them!

My kid comes home from the meeting worried about the devil. I'm not happy.
by jambon1 inthis was one of the many reasons that i left the org.
i just could not agree with some of the beliefs & ideas that kids are exposed to at the hall.
having not been raised in the org, i never had any idea what effect it all had on kids.

The Bible specifically says that Satan is a defeated enemy. It also commands us to "fear not". Over and over again, the only one the Bible says we are to ever fear, is yahweh alone. And that fear is not "terror" that he will strike you down. Its this ind of fear: You don't want to do something that will disappoint or smear your Dad's name. You don't want your Dad to be ashamed of you. That kind of fear.
Maybe if you show your son those places, it will counter the phobia indoctrination. he can concentrate on those verses, rather than the doom and gloom of demons lurking and hoping to jump him.
If his mother gives you any crap about it, you could ask her what exactly is wrong with showing your son Bible verses?

Bible Study Student With A Ton of Questions
by AddaGirl ini am both new to this forum and new to the jehovah's witness organization.
i am currently about half way through the 'what does the bible really teach?
" and have been attending both sunday services and ministerial school for 3 months.. my biggest problem is that, being a researcher by nature, "verifying that all things are true," i have also been researching the organization which has stumbled me greatly.

Can someone here give this person info. on the fall of Jerusalem? I don't have it handy and am in a bit of a rush. It would be terrific if she could use the K.I.S.S. method of counting backwards to show when the fall REALLY occurred. Perhaps she could ask her JW friend to show a secular reference to support their claim that the fall of Jerusalem occurred in 607. History is history. No matter what religion you are, the fall of Jerusalem happened when it happened! And it DID NOT happen in 607.
" Addagirl" for using your brain! Your questions may be the key to unlocking the WT mind control off of your JW friend/s!
I wish my JW friend would come accross a few good folks like you!
