Kwin's right. it's about power. The GB are fully entrenched in who they think they are. As Ray Franz put it (paraphrasing here): It is a matter of the deceived leading the deceived.

Is The Governing Body Of JW's Deliberately Deceiving People?
by Honesty in.
i find it very hard for me to believe that the governing body is unaware that many of the wtbts teachings and doctrines are not only deceiving people but are also spiritually, mentally and physically harming them as well.
what are your thoughts and comments?

No longer here to irritate.
by defd ini have been talking to a few people here privately and i came to the decision that i will not post anymore here.
those few individuals i talked to were nice and the way they were treated by the "friends" was all too familiar to me and it makes me truely sad.
i also see that some on here are not so nice.

Nice cheap shot, EvilForce. Also far from true. Where'd you get your awful handle from, anyway?

Hello!
by Narkissos inwell, i'm finally back before my usual computer after a few weeks away.
not all of it fun, but some of it pleasant though.. however jwd was on my mind and i've been thinking of many online friends here -- especially ian (dansk) and mario (utopianreformist).
sometimes i managed to get updates from public internet access.. to be true, i've been around for a couple of days now and read a few topics (some very interesting), but strangely i didn't feel like engaging in biblical, theological or philosophical discussions as i used to do.

the walking dead
by kj ini know that jws view df'd ones as the walking dead, but how do they view non-jws?
i thought that they considered them walking dead, too, but my mom says no.
can anyone clear that up for me?

*** w87 10/15 p. 29 Opening the Way to Increase in Gibraltar ***
In one case a young Witness, ignoring the counsel from the Author of marriage, started dating a local girl who was not a member of the congregation. But the patient help of the elders in the congregation made him think more seriously about the dangers involved. Finally, he approached his girlfriend and told her that although he felt strong affection for her, his Bible knowledge obligated him to terminate their relationship. ‘I want to marry a girl with whom I can live forever, not just for a few years,’ he explained.

How's that for disgusting? And this guy said this at least 18 years ago.

Why did the WTBTS not sue Ray Franz?
by Gill inif ray franz had been lying in anything he said in both of his books, c of c and in search of christian freedom, surely the wtbts would have sued him.
why did they take no legal action against him?.
could it be that this legalistic corportion realised he had lied about nothing?

And, I bet in 1982 some in the Writing Dept. and so forth, maybe even the GB lke Swingle (R.I.P.) probably genuinely liked Ray. I mean, they didn't even have to give him10 grand. Edited to fix some egregarious typos.

My hand splints
by Cygnus inthis is why sometimes i don't type (respond to posts) as much as i'd like.
no pity-party, just intended so people can get a better idea.
my fingers look comfortable but they barely move since the nerves that help with movement are severed..

Ken, the time period of recovery is anywere from 6 months to 2 years, the nerves grow back about a milimeter a day.
Es, my affliction that I'm dealing with has been diagnosed as bilateral radial palsy. Briefly: Since I'm on coumadin after having a prosthetic heart valve installed 3 years ago, I have blood testing done about 3 times a month. One such test was performed in late June, and the person who drew my blood tied the tourniquet to my left arm so tightly it severed the radial nerve near my tricep. My left hand basically went dead. I didn't know what was going on so the next day (a Saturday) I went to the ER of a local hospital. They drew blood out of my right arm, and then tourniquet they applied severed the radial nerve in my right arm, killing my right hand. Basically a one out of a trillion thing. The neurologist that I see say my case is definitely publishable.

Ehh.. I got bullied a few times in high school. 'Til I stood up to the bully, and he never bothered me again. As for today, people can try to bully me all they want (see slippy's board for an example, particluarly Bendrr's posts to me), but it doesn't bother me that much. Now if someone was bullying someone I love, family, friends, or caty, somehow I doin't think I'd be as passive about it.

Es, I recently switched from Paxil to Lexapro. No bad side effects and it seems to work well. As opposed to Effexor and Cymbalta which were nightmares. Do you have a doc or another M.D. pro you can discuss this with?

Ever feel embarrassed when buying condoms?
by tsunami_rid3r in.
i dont know if i could do it, it'd almost be like buying tampons.

Why would it be embarassing? Clerks really don't care what you buy, as long as you don't pay them in all pennies.
