Joel, I have no fancy suggestions. All I can say is thank you for your generosity and friendship for some 8 years, and know this, that I think and speak highly of you often. Do your ears buzz alot? That's coming from me. :)

JWs Love It When Something Bad Happens To Ones Who Have Left The "Truth"
by minimus indid you ever notice how jws act when they hear that an inactive jw or a df'd person had something bad happen to them?
almost with glee, they give that *look* that says, "we told you so".

Funny you bring this up. I was just thinking how when I had my open heart surgery after not being out of JWdom for too long, a lot of clients, friends, family sent me get well cards or wishes. Not one JW did, even though I've come to know thousands of JWs over 25 years.

Brenda,
: DefD... Are you truly a JW? I am surprised you are willing to use the King James version INSTEAD of the NWT to "prove" your points. Afterall, the KJ version is frowned upon by the WTBTS as a false version.
: So in recap: You still support Jehovah's Government on Earth with Isa 9:6, but you only support it with the KJ version of the bible. That don't fly.
Be nice to the poor chap. He knows you know what he'll say in defence. He just tried one different angle witcha. Other 'celebrated scholars' also believe similar to WT millenialism, they ain't the only ones. Only to them, (as did to CT Russell) when the Good Book says "Jerusalem" it means Jerusalem, not some place far away in the cosmos somewhere.

Jeff, the OT is full of political uprisings and rule-making and whatnot. Jesus was a political figure. Paul spoke of judging angels and Revelation is nothing but a book of political weirdness. The promise made to Abraham was a political one. I definitely think the Kingdom of God is political in nature according to scripture. That's one big reason I don't adhere to the ideology presented.

*** ts chap. 20 p. 176 For Whom Will Resurrection Bring Benefits? ***
MANY questions come up about the resurrection of the dead. Who will be resurrected? Infants? Children? Both the righteous and the wicked? Will those who were married be reunited with their former mates?
The Bible does not go into every detail about the resurrection. However, it contains the marvelous promise that the dead will be raised to life and it gives enough particulars to establish faith in that promise. Should its silence about certain matters keep us from appreciating the soundness of that promise? ... Really, no one would appreciate being called upon to explain or prove each statement that he makes... Surely, then, it was a kindness on God’s part not to require former marriage relationships to be in force at the time of a person’s resurrection...

If you wanna know why there's tons of information on the net. "Before Abraham I am" is horrible grammar, for starters. The greek construction differs greatly from other ego eimi statements made in John. Even the one uttered by the blind man that was healed by Jesus (does that make the blind man YHWH?). In Jn 8:58 Jesus was saying "I was, and still am." Thus, "I have been."
Jesus likely spoke in Aramaic. The Jews would have had to translate what he said into Greek and think of Exodus 3 which was written in Hebrew, within a matter of microseconds. And, John's greek gospel didn't have Jesus saying 'ego eimi ho on' ("I am The Being") which is what YHWH is recorded as saying in the LXX.
There's a hell of a lot better ways to 'prove' Jesus' eternal Godship than by using the Bible, any Bible.
Bolded type is my edit.

Remember, you don't have to reject the Bible and become atheist. There's lots of other theistic ideas out there, or just form your own!
I'm glad to see I've converted at least somebody to Last Thursdayism.

Wrong, Honesty. Don't ask yourself. Ask a decent JW apologist or some other group that doesn't believe Jesus was YHWH. Do some research. DO NOT say "Aha! The KIT says ONE thing and the NWT says ANOTHER!" The translation process is not dependant on a word-for-word literal understnding of the simple greek words, a la an interlinear. One of such is one of many tools used to determine the translation.
John 8:58 is a terrible example of using the KIT in "proving" that it should be rendered in English "before Abraham I am"
