she thinks its her culture
That's an interesting way to put it. This is sort of a strange thread. It's difficult to imagine getting DF'd several times, yet keep coming back and thinking it is the "truth." Those poor people, especially the ones who get DF'd again and suffer the shunning process again and again. How many of these tortured souls are out there?
I don't think I'm familiar with anyone that's been disfellowshipped several times. One strange story, though, if I can tell it: a girl who was best friends with my ex-wife (I call her a girl, she's my age now, mid 30s) got divorced and her ex (who I have known since I was a small kid) will not admit to any "fornication" so she was stuck being single, as she did not have a "scriptural divorce." So she decided to have an "affair" with a "worldly" man and willingly got disfellowshipped. A year later she went to get reinstated to then be "scripturally free" to remarry. Ridiculous, the hoops people go through in the Watchtower religion in order to try and live a half-way normal life.

My very good friend Joelbear
by Cygnus ini first "met" joel in the old jw-oriented aol chat room before jwd existed and when h2o was still in its infancy.
we're talking january/february of 1997. i liked him instantly and have maintained a somewhat distant friendship with the man ever since.
recently he demonstrated what sort of man he is by sharing very generously with me in a time of need i'm experiencing.

Recently he demonstrated what sort of man he is by sharing very generously with me in a time of need I'm experiencing. Joelbear may not like himself or how he treats others right now because of his inner demons, but if I'm to be asked, I believe him to be a man of impeccable character, very intelligent, charming, and spirited. I'd feel blessed had he been my older brother.
Cheers to you, my friend Joel!

One of my therapists once told me that chronic boredom stems from repressed anger. And a lot of people (me included!) will turn to drugs or alcohol to help alleviate the mounting pressure on the brain. I know how it feels, Joel. You just want the globe to stop spinning so you can step off and have everyone leave you alone. I'm going to dedicate a post to you.

Where can you turn to for help when there's nowhere left to go?
by JV inwhat organizations can you turn to?
people?
places?

JV definitely go get checked out. It won't hurt to spill your guts to somebody who won't judge you and will listen. I've been through lots of different therapies and therapists and it can really make you feel better.
What I can't recommend is going to a general hospital. One kept me in the psyche ward against my will for 3 days and treated me (and everyone else there) as convicted criminals. If you're really desperate, try a facility like we have locally (western NY) called Brylin. Do a little research on what's troubling you on the internet or even hike it to a library for a few hours. Remember that it's up to YOU to work on yourself, and it can be challenging and fun. James back there understands this, and gives wise suggestions.

I dig your subtle chages, wasaelder.
One congo I attended would just fly by the seat of their pants at times when it came to songs. I remember arguing with an elder, in righteous theocratic indignation, that the Society has picked these certain songs to be sung because they are reflective of the material at that night's meeting, so we ought to follow the KM. he said "Eh, a song's a song, what does it matter?" That elder ended up dying from a brain tumor about 7 or 8 years later. The strange things you remember......

I always scored in the mid-130s.
IQ generally has to do with how well you can manage things like problem solving, analytical processes, associations... I'd say a little formal education helps but like personality I think 90-95% of who and what you are is pretty much settled by the time you're six years old.

I think I can / need a Bathroom break?
Sure Bush took responsibility. He's already lame-ducking. Repubs are gonna need to fight a big Democrat push in '08, like in '92, and GWB doesn't have to worry about it.
