I appealed to these mens' sense of reason, and seriously consider the implications of their actions. Well, we all know how that usually goes. So, with my DF'd friend waiting in the coat room, I asked to read a scripture, and read:

I have no problem with believers as long as they follow the scriptural principle (applicable to any supernatural belief system I think): " without faith it is impossible to please [him] well, for he that approaches God must believe that he is..." - Heb 11:6. Trying to prove God or deities just can't be done, 'nuff said.

I don't mind being stared at. One former psyche would look at me like all the time and I was okay with it. When caty and I had our dog Marly she taught me that when a human and a dog are staring at one another, the first to look away is considered by the dog to be inferior.
Once in a great while I go to a busy street light near my house, stand at the corner, and stare into people's cars as they're stopped at the red light and try to make eye contact, usually with the passenger as they're less distracted. Just to see what would happen. No guns pulled on me yet. (Hey, I live a 'boring-ass life' to quote Kevin Smith.)

I just found it amusing that in about 10 minutes I could find 7 or 8 quotes on my WT CD-ROM in my bound volumes that paralleled the almost exact descriptions of a cult according to a rather reasonable webpage I came across.

Well, I meant to try and fade but my JW ex-wife was a blabbermouth. Last meeting I went to was a service meeting where the speaker held up the "Require" brochure and said words to the effect of: 'Isn't it wonderful that because people don't like to think for themselves this 32-page brochure can do all their thinking for them?' I let out a very audible AHEM and the next time I set foot in that building was to attend a judicial meeting.

the doctrine that in 1914 the end of the gentile times took place, jesus took up rule in heaven.
for some reason the jws think the outbreak of world war i in 1914 is proof their prophetic calculations were correct.
