So they don't come right out and say you can't. Reminds me of skydiving or rock climbing. It's not a good idea, it doesn't show respect for life, 1975 may be the time for Armageddon, but we're not saying, brothers, we're not saying!

Your mother, family, and friends will all die forever at Armageddon which is fast approaching unless you follow your Christian responsibility to preach to them, and even then they may not live through the war of God.
Said another way, here's how the Watchtower magazine puts it:
***
w61 8/1 p. 469 Enlarging Your Privileges of Service ***
After God’s execution of judgment upon the wicked in his war of Armageddon, the earthly subjects of the King will have before them a world-wide cleanup program that will eclipse anything this globe has ever seen. Countless numbers of human dead will have to be buried.
***
w56 8/1 p. 464 Jehovah’s Message Against Gog of Magog ***So devastating that slaughter, the dead will cover the ground as manure spread over a field... In the wake of Armageddon’s carnage, disease and pestilence from the rot and decay would plague the survivors were it not for the fact that Jehovah sends forth an invitation to the birds and beasts to attend this great slaughter... This certainly shows the contempt in which Jehovah holds the proud and haughty of Gog’s system, letting the wild beasts and vultures feed upon them as worthless carrion!
*** w56 8/1 p. 464 Jehovah’s Message Against Gog of Magog ***
With such a glorious feast of victory concluded, only the bones, bones from one end of the earth to the other, will be left for burial. What a task that will be for the survivors, to cleanse the earth of every remaining evidence of Gog’s forces! Even with the work well organized it will take seven months, Jehovah says, just to bury the bones. Scouting corps will be sent out on a full-time basis to search the land thoroughly and, when bones are found, markers will be set up for those with the spades and shovels who follow.
***
w87 5/15 p. 6 What Other Benefits Flow From God? ***Who will survive the devastating global cleanup, or Armageddon?
***
w89 9/1 p. 19 Remaining Organized for Survival Into the Millennium ***Only Jehovah’s Witnesses, those of the anointed remnant and the "great crowd," as a united organization under the protection of the Supreme Organizer, have any Scriptural hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed system dominated by Satan the Devil.

Three questions I recommend asking before getting baptized:
1 - if I ever come to vocally disagree with any teaching, will I be subject to censure or discipline? What form of discipline? Where in the Bible is the outline for the procedure?
2 - Why can a JW accept some blood parts and not others when 40 years ago no blood parts were allowed? Where in the Bible are such distinctions made?
3 - Why do JWs believe animal life began some 35,000 years ago, but accept that the earth is billions of years old?
see:
***
g82 11/8 p. 7 Science and the Bible ***The Bible record, together with verifiable history, indicates that the seventh day of that creative week covers a period of 7,000 years. Hence, each of the six preceding "days" would be of the same length.
Ask what "verifiable history" they refer to.
*** w87 1/1 p. 30 Questions From Readers ***the entire creative week would be 49,000 years long
*** Rbi8 Genesis 1:22-23 ***
With that God blessed them, saying: "Be fruitful and become many and fill the waters in the sea basins, and let the flying creatures become many in the earth." And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, a fifth day.
The fifth day would have started about 20,000 years ago. Do you really think sharks, birds, plankton and even humans are that young?

rootcause, I realize you have much to digest here with so many posting to you, but the issue is not whether I would use the 1961 policy or not, the issue is: is it the congregation's scriptural responsibility, before Jehovah God, to expel JWs who accept whole blood knowingly and willingly? Or isn't it? Because in 1961 they went very far to prove it was, but now they say it isn't. Which is correct, in your mind? That's all I am asking. It's really very simple, and has nothing to do with whether the Bible forbids the medical use of blood at all or what a Christian's conscience may decide.

I've been sick, moody, spending time trying to get public assisstance, talking on the phone, spending time with friends, listing my valued possessions on ebay, and becoming less interested in antiJW stuff as I've been involved in it for so long.

elvis, of course you're right, the Watchtower needs schooled and trained people, so if you just keep smiling, write down 12 hours, 8 magazines and 4 brochures, make 80% of the meetings, you've got the holy spirit.
***
w86 5/1 p. 12 Is Your Eye "Simple"? ***The ‘simple eye,’ rather than being distracted or sidetracked by everything that is going on, focuses its attention on only one thing... Jesus is here talking about goals in life, pointing out the futility of the pursuit of material things and the blessing of cultivating interest in spiritual matters. Clearly, he is telling us that by focusing our eyes singly on Kingdom interests, our "whole body will be bright." Why? Because if we make the doing of God’s will our goal in life, we will seek to reflect the glorious good news in every aspect of our lives.
Yeah, yeah, well actually keeping one's 'eye simple' is a Jewish colloquialism for being generous, that's all.
Oh, I just had to look something up regarding what metatron said. Here's a good one:
***
w65 12/15 p. 751 "We Should Not Neglect the House of Our God" ***To attend meetings in the churches of Christendom costs money, either because of having the collection plate, bag or bucket passed before an attender one or more times during a religious meeting, or because of having to pay for admission into the religious building. Many persons find themselves too poor materially to make these forced contributions. But with the true household of God there is no such financial barrier to bar them from coming to congregation meetings... free-will contributions can be made by members of the congregation as they are able to contribute. From this purpose a contribution box can be placed at a convenient spot for persons to drop in money contributions without showy display. We do not care to be like the religious hypocrites of our first century who did charitable works or alms-giving "in order to be observed by [men]; . . . that they may be glorified by men."

by No Apologies insometimes i just don't know when to keep my big mouth shut.
today i think finally said enough to get da'd.. for those of you just tuning in, a recap: about 2-3 years i came to realize everything i had been taught as a jw was a load of steaming turds.

I don't want to steal your thunder or be redundant since many know this of me, but two elders came over 3 years after I had been inactive to invite me to that year's Memorial. When I said thanks but no thanks, they said, 'Well, the real reason we're here is we're forming a judicial committee regarding you, unless you just want to let us know right here (in my living room) if you still consider yourself one of Jehovah's Witnesses.'
You're right, NA, you can't trust 'em. They think they're doing what's right for the brotherhood and for God.
***
Rbi8 Philippians 1:18 ***What then? [Nothing,] except that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is being publicized, and in this I rejoice. In fact, I will also keep on rejoicing...

: They roost here like vultures on a high branch, picking off people who are coming out of a cult, destroying any remnant of faith in God with ceaseless, out of context, assaults on scripture.
Well, not really. Those that disagree with theism are allowed a platform here on which to give their opinion. The natural result is that the opinion of those who see things similarly will be non-xians, as christians can't get their own act together. And when they do, they turn into JWs.
: There are even people here who say they are Christians yet typically degenerate scripture at every opportunity.
Typically? So it is typical for nominal Christians to denegrate the Bible? el oh el I know what you meant. Usually though the Bible does damage to itself when actually read and not read into.
*** Rbi8 John 13:36 ***
Simon Peter said to him: "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered: "Where I am going you cannot follow me now, but you will follow afterwards.
*** Rbi8 John 14:5 ***
Thomas said to him: "Lord, we do not know where you are going. How do we know the way?"
*** Rbi8 John 16:5 ***
But now I am going to him that sent me, and yet not one of YOU asks me, ‘Where are you going?’

Admittedly, I prefer "Jehovah."
As are brand names like Coca-cola, or personal names like George Bush. Why would we do that to the true God's name Yahweh.
Admittedly, that's a good point too (if indeed Yahweh is right).
Ever run into a Sacred Namer? I've never met more insistent people in my entire life, and that includes meth users and kerosene huffers.
