I've known of several, including a congregation servant (yes, from the "old" days) who was df'd and, on appeal, the verdict was reversed and he was just 'put on probation.' Also, a former PO who was removed for "disruptive behavior" in the congregation, and about 3 years later they BOE asked him if he'd like to be the Field Service overseer. He said no, because he didn't plan on going out in service every weekend like a good FSO should...so they made him the secretary instead.

Can Elders who resigned or were demoted ever be reinstated as Elders?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy cousin and another elder in my congregation were demoted{they were asked to resign} about 5 years ago.
they both had teens who were disfellowshipped at the same time.
the reasoning was that,'' if you can't control your own household how can you control members in god's house.

There have been cases where someone who posted here was "outted" by a careful compilation of posts made by suspicious JWs.
That's why it has been advised almost beyond count to not post anything on JWD which could potentially reveal compromising information about yourself.

Every time I see your screen name, I automatically think of Las Vegas. LOL
I have a thing for nickel-slots.
Congrats on 5 years...and glad that they have been good ones!

still considering going back to meetings...
by oompa innot that i want to or anything, but this therapist guy seems to think that it would be really helpful to my wife.
he says to pull out the good and ignore what you dont like, and that supporting my wife a bit in this way could be good for us as a couple.
it could also let us have at least some shot at keeping the old social life alive.

One question I feel compelled to ask: Does this therapist have any real idea of what the JW environment is all about?

I have some good news I'm going to share with you at JWD
by noni1974 insome of you may know i'm a cab driver and i have been one for 3 years.the company i've been working for doesn't require a hack license.a hack license is a thing in my line of work needed to work in most big citys as a cab driver.you have to take a test to prove you know the city and if you pass you get your hack license.not many people can pass the test.. i've been working for a suburban cab company so i never needed one before.well a few weeks ago i looked into changing cab companys.so i called one and talked to the general manager about coming to that company.he was excited about it and set me up to take this test.i took the test a few weeks ago.i failed the first time but i had a feeling when i left that i was going to fail.not because i don't know my city but because the test asks for exact address of major attractions businesses and hotels through out not only the city but the county as well.. so the following week i took the test again.i had a good feeling this time.i tried to call the guy back and get my results on the day i was supposed to.i couldn't get him on the phone.i started to think i had failed again so i thought i would let a few weeks go by and call him again to take the test again.. well he called me yesterday and said i had passed.i am so excited.so my good news is i am changing cab companys.i can now work in the city of cleveland with out worrying about getting a ticket.now all i have to do is pass the drug test which is not a problem for me because i don't do any kind of drugs at all and a dot phyical.. the reason for the change is i'm not making enough money at my currant company.we are only allowed to pick people up in the burbs and that makes it hard to make money.this company has many school trips paid for by the school boards and county.i will be able to have the cab 24/7 if i want.i can drive when ever i want without having to go and pick up a cab.. i know 2 guys who went to this cab company this year.the first went this summer and he told me he's making between 1400.00 a week and 900.00 a week take home.i'm making between 400.00 and 500.00 a week now.so i'll be making way more money..

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM LAWRENCE HUGHES
by SHUNNED FATHER inas you may have heard, the court of appeal has overturned three previous court decisions in my favour.
the lawsuit has been given the green light and is basically has remained intact almost exactly the way it started.
what are the odds of that happening?

If I was still inclined toward the sociology of "church" environments, I'd probably check out the Unitarians.

Would you give your life for a JWD poster ?
by JH inwould anyone here give their life for me ?
.
i'm saying this because the jw's always told me that they would give their lives for any brother or sister......can you feel the love... so, i was wondering if we have just as much love on jwd.

Now, now, JH...you truncated my statement, you bad boy you! LOL
based on a depth of relationship that goes far beyond a mere discussion board environment.
Yes, indeed, the db environment has provided opportunities for me to get to know people beyond my wildest imaginations. But it has not been simply because of the db environment: it's based on personal interactions of a more thorough nature. Thus my somewhat tarnished reputation as being a phone-call kind of guy. In fact, I tried to call you earlier this week, but the number I have has been disconnected.
Heck, if you and I talk again, maybe I'd decide to even die for you!

Gringa:
But, I don't know how anyone could have their eyes wide open and REJOIN the JWs.... sorry, those 2 things DO NOT COMPUTE!!!! Eyes wide open + JW = No way
Of course, you are correct in that assessment. Perhaps I should have been more clear in my "tongue-in-cheek" speculation about such a possibility.
