I love my new 7-day alarm clock!
by AlmostAtheist inmemory is not my strong suit, and i found that i would invariably either forget on friday night to turn off my alarm, or forget on sunday night to turn it back on.
the only variance to this was when i forgot both -- which was frequent.. so i'd have both a disrupted weekend sleep-in, and a rushed or even late-to-work monday morning.. i finally bit the bullet and purchased the neverlate 7-day alarm clock, from http://www.americaninnovative.com/buy/.
it allows me to set a different alarm for every day of the week.

In the modern day era of Jehovah’s name people this unfortunate speculation has lead at times to those individuals, so distraught with what they thought were clear indications of the ‘end’, that some lost heart and even left Jehovah’s modern day ark of salvation. Looking back, we see that it was not the failing of Jehovah, nor of his chosen ‘slave’, that lead to such heartbreak. No, it was the needless speculation for a quick resolution to this evil and oppressive system that lead to such.
That's when i knew it had to be a joke. They wouldn't come even that close to admitting error.. I doubt we will see another "OH MY GOD IT"S THE END" type of new light from here till their death. I think they realize what a mistake it would be if they were wrong. We also won't see a, "Oh it's way out," statement either, don't want the R&F to lose faith.

Question for JWs still on the "inside":
by Hellrider injust a question: if you are still jws (for any reason, many just can`t leave because their entire families are wrapped around it, etc), but don`t believe in it, and lead a "double life", how do you cope with going door to door?
i just can`t imagine how it must feel like to go out there and try to tell people at the doors or in the streets things you know are just bs!
how do you deal with that?

I used to call on RV's that i knew weren't home even when i was a bible thumping pioneer. We also did star witnessing. We would start our time near the hall then drive to the other end of the territory and do another call, then go to break on the other end of the territory. (repeat all day.) With a big territory you maybe do 2-3 calls. I haven't been out recently. Probably not for 6 months. Wife still goes out once a month or so.

How many here used to attend meetings un prepared?
by JH inon sundays, i hardly ever read my watchtower.
i would take 2 minutes to underline here and there just to look good.
if i wanted to make a comment at the watchtower study , i'd read 1 or 2 paragraphs and answer the question related to those paragraphs, that's it.

You're supposed to prepare?

Self-intro, newbie questions
by Nara ini've been "cruising" the boards for two months now, and there appears to be a lot of very knowledgeable and "cool" individuals here.. i recently embarked on a introductory bible-study with the jws in my area.
i know that probably isn't music to most of your ears, but rest assured that i'm not remotely sold on their theology.
nor am i blind to the past scandals and current issues of the wtbts--i've read about four different scholarly works about the society.. i was raised as a lutheran, and i've had a decent amount of bible-schooling in the lutheran denomination.. my questions to you, those who would know, are these:.

That truth is simply this: NOT EVERY WITNESS BELIEVES THE SAME THINGS OR TO THE SAME DEGREE
You can't completely discount that statement. I have known many witnesses that have held different belief systems and have often joked with my family (in private) about crossing things out of the watchtower. The condition however is silence. If you hold your beliefs in private then you are merely "waiting on Jehovah." Not trying to be apologetic or anything i just know many with different degrees of belief that are content to keep it to themselves. They don't try to change the org.

Can a JW be disfellowshipped because of "Materialism"?
by JH inkeeping in mind these verses below:.
for we have brought nothing into the world, and neither can we carry anything out.
8 so, having sustenance and covering, we shall be content with these things.

What's that song that goes, "The cars in the churchyard are shiny and german, distinctly at odds with the words of the sermon.."
