I enjoyed the series. Bill reminded me of my gung-ho JW older brother -- just in a different cult.
I wonder how many JWs watched the series.

2 jdubs were at my door yesterday... so one of the questions i asked them and now i ask you is this.. why should i believe the bible is the gods word?
if i put on the table the book of mormon and the bible side by side what will be the criteria to decide which one is gods word?.
this is what the book of mormon says in 2 nephi 33:1.

If you woke up this morning and found that somehow overnight the whole population of the planet had become Muslim, including you, well, that would only mean that one half of the population (the females) would still be second class citizens.
Same is true if you woke up and everyone was a Christian.
If, on the other hand, you woke up and everyone was a secular humanist -- ahhhhhhhh.

"Look at me, I'm so Spiritual." <-- Translation: "Look at me, I'm so Special."
the year is 1969. faithful followers of the watchtower society are gearing up for the imminent end of the system of things just as they had been for the previous ninety years.
a young witness named andrew is trying to decide what to do with his life.
andrew is a smart kid and he has an entire lifetime ahead of him.
Great job, Mad. I would leave the ending as is. It has a nice Hemingway kind of feel, like "A Clean, Well-Lighted Place," one of my favorites. If you haven't read that short story, check it out.
"higher education: jesus warned against seeking your own glory.

Have you ‘made sure of the more important things’?
Yeah, like have you made sure you're not in a goddam cult?
i was just reading of a dude who is going back to the matrix.... to save his wife?

To help curb my masterbation habit.

i've read some random articles of late and have found a recurring factor which could well be answered effectively by many of the posters here.
basically the notion relates to what makes one vulnerable to indoctrination into a high-control religious cult and goes lke this .
while most, if not all humans seek group approval and association to some degree .
My mother was a 16 year old mother, again barefoot and pregnant (with me!), with a 7th grade education, married to an alcoholic abusive mostly absent child-man, daughter of functionally illiterate abusive alcoholic tobacco share-cropping divorced parents.
She was desperately in need of a daddy and a substitue husband.
One fine day, Jehovah knocked on her door.
Need I say more?
