Well....I took my eleven year old daughter out golfing today, 18 holes, seemed like it would never end. She got to drive the cart, she loves to drive! While we were out my wife got her an iPod, haven't given it to her yet. I'd kinda like to keep it, nahh, just kidding, we'll give it to her later. Anyway, happy fathers day to all the fathers out there.

Wow! I don't know what to say, I'm absolutely speechless. I'm also very impressed with the caring, nurturing nature of the women of this board. Our Creator, Jehovah, would be proud....he would be so proud of the true christian love here. And...I'll apply for the "older brother" position.

Really serious question!
by 5thGeneration indrifting away is one thing.
i'm curious if anyone has written a letter (not a disassociation letter) that simply told their friends and loved ones that you don't really believe a lot of it anymore and blah, blah, blah.. or is it better to shut up and just never show up again.. problem is my wife says if i want to leave that i have to fess up and tell people.
ouch!.

Stilla,
I have stared fear in the face, never letting it know I was more afraid of it, than it was of me, and it backed down, it ran away, I prevailed. - The BlackPearl
Why do we fear things or events? Only because the outcome of the event or thing we are dealing with is unknown. What if we could change our thought patterns to think; Wow! I wonder how fantastically the decisions I make today will enrich me (materially and/or physcologically) in the future. I'm confident I'm making the right make decisions!
I just arrived back home from a business conference, I'd like to share with you Stilla, these quotes from some famous and not so famous people. Ponder them carefully, think positively, make your decisions.
"A year from now you will wish you started today." - Karen Lamb
"One decision can change your life." - Tony Robbins
"You have to think anyway, so why not think big." - Donald Trump
"Create a magnificent goal, a goal so grand that it is both inspiring and intimidating. Make realizing the goal your mission in life." - Steven Marshall
"I am more important than my problems." - Jose Ferrer
"The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it." - Jean Baptiste Moliere
The moral of the story is...if you think can't do it, you won't. If you believe in your heart you can do whatever it is you wish to achieve, you WILL do it.
Best wishes to you, keep praying to Jehovah for guidence, don't fear the organization, don't fear anything or anyone,...except the giver of life...Jehovah. Stare fear in the face, it will run and hide, you will prevail. -

I bet you could sell it on eBay like that woman who made a slice of toast one morning for breakfast. When the slice of toast popped out of the toaster it had the face of Jesus on it. It sold on eBay for like a thousand bucks. Now...just think how much you could make...with an easter egg that appeared like that with that symol...on the day of easter! Bet it's worth five grand.

Do you think it bothers elders, to know they can not control us now?
by free2beme inlast summer i went to a wedding of a relative that is a witness.
we're not disfellowshipped or disassociated, but have been inactive for about ten years.
because no one mentions our history to others, very few members of our relatives congregations, even know we used to be witnesses.

Really,...isn't all about the control? Without that they've got nothing, absolutely nothing. I sort of chuckle at this because MOST elders, not all, but most, have lives outside the congregation that they cannot control, therefore, the need and desire for control. For example, being a subordinate at a job, being subordinate to their wives, being subordinate DO's, CO's and PO's, being subordinate to other elders and the list goes on. The ONLY thing they can control is the common publisher or whomever else they think that they can control.
It's just like the woman who recently posted on here, that a couple of elders "visited" (more like a gestapo check up) her at her place of work. They knew they had a "captive audience" with her, she couldn't leave, she couldn't speak her mind, she couldn't do anything, therefore...they were in control. And with this poor woman, they will continue to be in control until she takes it away from them. It's a sad thing, and I don't think Jesus and his Father would approve.

Eat a Placenta?
by skeeter1 inimagine, you are tom cruise/chruch of scientology publicist.
you have a public relations problem - the public thinks tom & his group are wacked out, cult members.. then, tom cruise says to a reporter that he's ready to eat the placenta of his new child after it births.. lol!
this really helps the church of scientology/tom's next movie's popularity.. i realize that today's fathers don't want to wait in a waiting room with a cigar.

"I am thinking about writing an email to one of the elders and letting him know that I do not want them to contact me at work again, if ; they come back to my office then I will be calling my lawyer. I just don't know how they will react to something like this, might piss them off more."
Yes, they might be a bit pissed off,...but you just bought back your rights as an individual.
Dang! I can't figure out how to turn off the this yellow stinking hightlighter! See,...............it just follows me, like a pack of mad bees, it won't go away. See....there it is again, it won't go away! I'm going to go to bed with yellow on the back of my eyelids. Crap! I'm scarred for life now!

Well, my wife flipped out.
by rassillon ini hope i don't go too long with this.... last night my wife and i were talking about her day in service.
we talked about several things of little consequence and then i made mention of a point out of the reasoning book to underscore the importance of our need to be well versed in the facts that support our beliefs.
said point is on 416 of the rs book.

Papillon,
You started with John 1:1? It's a wonder she didn't shoot you! I would just let it lie for now, don't say anything else, just chill. In fact, just tell her that you love her and leave it at that for a while. The problem with this is that if you leave the org, she will see you as a dead man walking, may not want to continue the marriage thinking that you're not going to be paradise with her. It's a crapshoot from here.
