  When I was on the school the last time before I DA'd myself the first time, I just thought to myself, "Is this really the life that I want? Do I want to sit here and preach about things that I don't believe in?" I looked at my householder and I laughed, she got confused though because I wasn't going by what was on the notecard, and I just winged it, thinking, what a load of crap.

  Why can we LOSE our Religion, but not LOSE it's effects on us?

  another thread inspired by me chatting with our sweet little mary.... we who have exited the jehovahs witnesses religion, are now convinced we made the right move.

  most of us have no doubt this religion is a destructive, cultlike religion that we wouldn't wish on anybody....and yet,.

  ....we still suffer the effects it had on us.

  I think its also because we can't let go. Its part of us and we'll never forget what happened to us and as much as I say that its over and that I will move on, if you have family that are still in the religion, you'll never fully be able to let go because you will resent the religion for breaking your family us... maybe thats just me, but that is how I feel.

  quite some time ago, i made a topic asking for advice concerning a friend i had that is still a jw.

  he's the guy who initially recruited me.

  after i left, he still contacted me occassionally, sometimes offering to help me find a job and whatnot.

  i'm sure normal people in the uk don't refer to their spouse or partner as their "mate", or talk about seeking a mate.

  I say boyfriend.... I don't call him my spouse, partner or mate... they all sound to informal... if I have a boyfriend that's what I call him... or maybe when I introduce him, I'll call him the person I'm having sex with...lol...

  JW funerals from a never-been-JW

  my son-in-law just drove me home from montreal and we had a fascinating discussion about jw funerals.

  my daughters grandmother (her father's mother) passed away a couple of months ago.

  my son-in-law went to his first ever jw "meeting".

  Wow, that sounds like it was a sunday meeting and they gave no regard to the person that the service was for. That shouldn't be how a "loving organization" should act.

  I agree that its completely wrong. When I went through questions the first time, because I was young (16) they made my dad sit in with me and I felt like I was being put on trial for murder (I snuck out of my house and I wrote a letter to disassociate myself). I got disrespectful and pretty much told them all to f*ck off.....
