an "Adult's" View.
by RichieRich inhere i sit, in my public library, typing away a computer from a hot nasty seat.. but i wouldn't be anywhere else in the world right now.
(okay, maybe a couple of other places).
i have to be at work in 40 minutes, and its a 15 minute drive from here, so lets not expect a novel of a post.. yesterday was my birthday, and they did a little cake thing for me and all that which was nice, but otherwise, nothing is new.. my mother seems to be cooling off, but lets just say that the "excrement flinging fan" hasn't been turned off yet.. i'm 18 now, and nothing is different.

Do you still say you are a JW?
by architect inthe lastest study article says in a nut shell that we should tell our new workmates/employer that we are a jw..for you folks who do not attend anymore or you've got out of the "theocratic routine" do you still make it know you are a jw?

Mrs.Congeniality
There is no way I let anyone know I spent all 30 years of my life a JW. It is so embarrassing to even let people know. I want nothing to do with the most judgemental org. ever.

ymca and christianity
by aoxo inok so when i was leaving i wanted to check out the local y and do some classes but i was always warned by so many people and articles in the w&a that they were tied in with churches and paying for a membership would be like giving money to other churches.
i tried to look up that info from the quotes in older w&a's and couldn't even find the book that was quoted.
i even grilled the people at the y and repeatedly asked if it was or ever had been affiliated with a particular church.

I HAVE JOINED THE Y WITH MY FAMILY AND WE HAVE NOT BEEN REPREMENDED-MAYBE ITS BECAUSE WE HAVE NOT GONE TO MEETINGS SINCE SEPTEMBER 2005. SINCE WE HAVE BEEN MEMBERS NO ONE HAS PREACHED AT US AND WE HAVE NEVER BEEN FACED WITH ANY RELIGIOUS LIT. I THINK THE WATCHTOWER IS JUST JEALOUS THAT WE ARE MAKING A PYMT TO THEM. IF YOU LOOK INTO THE Y THEY CAME UP WITH MANY SPORTS. BASKET BALL, VOLLEY BALL, ETC. SO WHY IS IT OK FOR THE BROS TO GET TOGETHER AND PLAY SUCH PAGAN SPORTS!!!! -

Babtized to young!!!!!!
by Mrs.Congeniality ini was thinking we should start a class action lawsuit against the org.
there needs to be something where ones can leave the org.
without harsh consequences.

Current GBNone of the 1975 GB left
by AuldSoul init just dawned on me that not one single person from the governing body of 1975 is on the governing body today.. here are a few other facts about the current gb:.
geoffrey jackson was 20 years old in 1975, he was not at risk of being drafted for viet nam because he was too young at the time.. sam herd and guy pierce were 21 the year sputnik was launched.. gerrit losch was 20 at the dawn of flower power and the free love era in the united states.
of course, his circumstances were very different in the country in which he was located.. david splane, stephen lett, and anthony morris were all of an age to be at risk for the viet nam draft.. a brief rundown of historical context for 7 of the 10 current gb members.

Hey blondie, it sounds like they should not have sold the mansion in Calif. that was built for Abraham Issac and Jacob to live in when they return to a paradise on earth. -

JWs: If the Bible is really all we need, then why all this WTS literature?
by whyizit ini've noticed when i ask jws questions, they keep handing me all kinds of booklets and encourage me to look in the reasoning book.
they do not answer my questions.
and why do they not refer me to the bible?

I am glad you posted this. I actually had an elder over a couple of weeks ago to go over 1914 questions. When he was here he mentioned to me that the Faithful and Discrete slave are not the same as the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. My husband and I were very shocked at this. He said that the org did not need the WBTS to stay alive. After all we have the bible and it is Gods word. Never ever heard an elder say that before. -

Why is it that the GB does not have to contact the rest of the 144,000 left on earth to ask their opinion if they should change something or not? After all is should me a majority rules situation. As far as I know it is just up to the GB and the rest of the 144,000 are not involved. -

I was thinking we should start a class action lawsuit against the org. There needs to be something where ones can leave the org. without harsh consequences. Everyone in my family totaling 11 have left the org. We have done nothing wrong but have ? I talked to my grandmother the other night who is still in the org and she said she knows for a fact that all of us are going down in a big way soon!!!!! This is so wrong. Now because the society can not handle our ? (607/mediator/etc.) we are going to be punished for it. We did not create this mess we just found it. I was babtized when I was12 and at that time I did not understand that I would be DF for having ? later. There is a boy in my last cong. I attended that is in 4th grade and only 9 who got babtized a few mo. ago. I guess they dont care who gets babtized just as long as they have numbers. Last year at my sisters old assembly there was no one who stood up to get babtized. Very strange!!!!! Anyway I feel that there has to be a way we can take controll of our own lives. If anyone has any advice let me know. Thanks a million!!!
