I can't believe it - paper over the mirrors. How ridiculous and demeaning!! That's disgusting. Do they do that in the KH as well? If so, why put mirrors there in the first place?
If they don't cover the mirrors in the mens, the sisters should start going into the mens toilet in large groups until the policy is changed. Start a revolt!!

anyway i worked on monday 6 hour day, he left me some accounting work which he knows i cant do and office work.

Next time you go in to work, do nothing but wash the dishes and tidy the stationery cupboard. When he complains, say you thought they were his top priorities.
There's too many bad bosses out there. They're not worth the stress.

I admit I hate the term "un-Australian" too when politicians use it. What I should have said was, "that's not very Australian". By "Australian", I mean, the layback, she'll be right, throw another lamb chop on the barbie and have a beer type of Oz. Live and let live. Give 'em a fair go. Don't dob in another Aussie, or anyone for that matter. Don't let "van Nyugen" types (ie drug dealers) hang when they get caught in Asia. So DON'T put missionaries in a position where they could be tortured.

Inq, I'm surprised at your thinking. Very un-Australian. I've known missionaries - they were kind. One of our Aussie posters was once a missionary. You could be turning these people in for torture, long term imprisonment or the death penalty. How would you have felt if someone had done that to you when you were a JW?
after my wedding i sent out an email to every non-witness i know and jw parents and a couple of siblings; the first group to stay in touch with old mates or turn near-strangers into friends in a time of needing them; the jw family group so that they'd know what's going on in our lives and how the wedding etc went and partly because i didn't want to be 'shunning' them; i wanted to be the one showing love and making an effort to maintain contact.
i sent another out recently, i figure i'll make it a biannual report on the life and times of the frass family.
it's nothing at all controversial, just a 'what we're up to' email.
Sorry Sass, to hear of the treatment you've received. You'd be tempted to forward a copy of his email to all your non-witness relatives with the plea that you need their support right now!! I wouldn't bother communicating with him again. He's not worth the effort. If he changes his mind in the future, he still owes you an apology.
do any you ever remember the elders admonishing you to change certain behaviors, attitudes, and actions that could be considered a consience matter if it was stumbling another brother or sister...they always quoted a scripture "he that stumbles the faith of another will perish in gehena" (i think it goes like that...) correct me if i am wrong.. so i have been reading crisis of conscience and i am at the part about the 1975 debacle...my question is if " jehovah is directing the faithful and discreet slave (eka governing body, wts, etc) why would he direct them into making a colossal blunder on when exactly armeggedon was coming, thereby stumbling the faith of those in god and driving them away from him?

this is the first year i have not attended the memorial ever.
so i am sitting at home watching prison break, oh and surfing the net.
my wife and daughter went, which i was happy about, as now everyone in the hall will notice my absence and know i am an apostate, and was not just d/f for some petty crime.
I haven't been to the memorial for a few years now, but this is the first year I didn't get an invitation. It's a relief, but still it feels strange. Must be even more so when other members of the household have been.
if there was a "union" in each congregation to protect the witnesses from the watchtower ,that would be nice.. you could negotiate certain things, like number of meetings a week, and hours in the field service.. .
what would you like to see negotiated?

One of the things that always bothered me - too many rules and regulations about what you could and couldn't wear in the KH. Women should be able to wear trousers, men shouldn't have to wear suits and ties. I remember poor, single mothers having to buy jackets for their young boys before they were allowed on the platform to give a Bible reading. Ridiculous!!
