If you could, would you have many wives?
by eyeslice ini read a book a few years back entitled white moguls, which looked at the british rule in india.
apparently, quite a few upper class englishmen ended up going native in india, and ended up not only with great wealth and power, but also with their own harems.
it seems to me that they had great lives!

What is the reason that the WTS uses for not celebrating Thanksgiving
by insearchoftruth inwell i overheard my wife last night on the phone telling someone she does not celebrate thanksgiving, i have asked her in the past why and she gave the stock answer about how holidays are rooted in paganism.
well from what i know, there is nothing pagan about the thanksgiving celebration, what is the official reason that is given for not celebrating this?

Is that in any of their books/pamphlets etc, I looked in the reasoning book and Thanksgiving is not discussed.......what about Paul stating not to judge one by the holidays one keeps?

I am awaiting a reply from her........guess if she doesn't want to celebrate Thanksgiving, we can just eat Turkey and the fixings while watching football games then.......how pathetic.

by Number1Anarchist inok, what article in the proclaimers book makes you vomit the most?.

Letters to the Editor
by sooner7nc inhas anyone on here used the method of sending a letter to the editor of their local paper, either exposing some of the wt's general misdeeds ie: child abuse, shunning, etc.
or something perpetrated on them personally?
if so, has anyone sent one to the fort worth star-telegram?

Sort of on a similar note, if the CNN site has a comment area on the Jonestown documentary, people could leave messages in the comments talking about how at Jonestown 900 were killed on site, but over the years many more than 900 have been killed due to the blood doctrine, as well as the families that are broken up due to the shunning/disfellowshipping rules.

There are other boards that have been stood up, but the research and information that resides in the history here is second to none....I echo oompas thoughts completely!!

Deceptive or just wrong?
by johnnyc ini have been virtually non-stop studying everything i can get my hands on with regards the wtbts, and "apostate" literature and information.
in all honesty, 80% at least is non-sense and over critical.
however, i do find about 20% (if i have to create a percentage reference) is appropriate in its line of reasoning and questioning.

What would the reaction of a present day JW be if one were to give them that Awake to read? I am sure it would be shrugged off as old light, but it also shows the WTS as a false prophet......those of you who have been a JW or at least know the JW mindset, what do you think?
