Will Michael Jacksons Mom be DF'd ???
by tresdecu injackson family to host first christmasmichael jackson's family is to hold christmas celebrations for the first time this year (09) - putting their own religious beliefs aside for the superstar's three children.. the jacksons were all brought up as jehovah's witnesses, a christian-based religion which does not recognise birthdays or christmas.
but the thriller hitmaker deviated from his family's belief system and always enjoyed the holiday season with prince michael, 12, paris, 11, and seven-year-old prince michael ii.
and family matriarch katherine jackson, who has full custody of the kids, is determined to put their former traditions aside in december (09) to keep the youngsters' lives as normal as possible.

Methinks there are different rules for the wealthy....look at Prince and the Williams sisters (I don't think they are baptized...but still raised JW).
This article is a very interesting happening, I am hoping it makes a difference. I would love to see it in a more mainstream magazine or paper so I can ask my wife about this as I am planning on celebrating the holidays with my family.......

What is my legacy?
by babygirl30 inas i was cleaning my house last night, i was boxing up all my jw literature i still had out in the open...and i was surprised how there was so much!!
i still had the videos in plain view, my bookshelf in my computer room was full over old kms/watchtower & awakes/bibles, and found my old mtg and service bags still full of literature too!.
so i throw the majority of it out, box up the rest, and then when i'm done and relaxing, i start thinking about what my legacy will be.

Marshfield religious landmark up for sale
Marshfield’s Kingdom Hall up for sale as Jehovah’s Witnesses congregations combine
By Lane Lambert The Patriot Ledger Posted Oct 24, 2009 @ 01:00 AM
MARSHFIELD —Anyone driving along Furnace Street in Marshfield can see that a neighborhood landmark – the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses – is up for sale.
With local membership declining, the congregation has merged with the Kingdom Hall in Rockland.
Jehovah’s Witnesses
About 7 million Jehovah’s Witnesses are in 230 countries. The movement began in the Northeast in the 1870s when Charles Taze Russell started publishing the Watchtower magazine. Here are some tenets of Jehovah’s Witnesses:
-Believe Jehovah (God) created his son Jesus in heaven, and Jesus helped Jehovah create the rest of the universe over a period of billions of years. - Believe that God will reward the righteous with eternal life on Earth as perfect humans. - Consider death to be a state of unconscious nonexistence. The dead are unconscious until they are resurrected to life on Earth in new bodies that resemble their former appearance. -Do not celebrate birthdays or holidays, including Christmas. - Baptize those "of a responsible age" who have made a conscious decision to join the faith.
- Primary duties expected of a Jehovah's Witness include regular attendance at Kingdom Hall meetings, and evangelism.
-Each Kingdom Hall has an assigned territory for which it is responsible to evangelize, mostly by going door to door.
-Do not accept blood transfusions.
Sources: religionfacts.com; pbs.comMember David Casoli of Whitman said the two congregations recently decided to combine to be “spiritually stronger ... so we can continue to do our preaching work, and take care of one another.”
With the Marshfield merger, Rockland’s Kingdom Hall now has a combined membership of about 110. It’s located at 339 Summer St.
There are also active congregations in Hingham, Plymouth and Stoughton.
The Marshfield Kingdom Hall had operated at the Furnace Street site near the Route 3A intersection for more than 30 years. The property has been up for sale for two weeks.
Kingdom Hall closings are unusual for the Jehovah’s Witnesses. They’ve had the highest growth rate of any U.S. denomination in recent years – more than 2 percent, according to a 2008 survey by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. That’s at a time when the Roman Catholic Church and large Protestant denominations are losing members.
But Jehovah’s Witnesses remain a comparatively small sect. At Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, the Center for the Study of Global Christianity says the denomination counts 2.4 million members, including children and inactive adherents.
Of those, 1.1 million are “publishers,” the most active members who distribute the Watchtower magazine and other material door-to-door and in other ways.
The Northeast has the fewest members – just 16 percent of the national total, according to the Pew Forum, or about 400,000. Worldwide, there are about 7 million active Jehovah’s Witnesses.

It amazes me how they can continue to grasp on to this senseless doctrine, just to show they are different and not of this world.......

I have finally figured ot how a lot of JWs gain more members besides having more kids...
by cognac ini've noticed that when a bible study is conducted, when worldly people have questions a lot of jws say that there question is covered later in the book.
that way, the worldlys get stopped in there tracks all the while feeling like there questions are getting answered while the assimilation takes place.. they either forget there question or the book tells them what the answer is without either giving them biblical proof or twisting scriptures.
i've noticed a lot of paragraphs in books just telling people what the answer is without scriptures or saying something like, "surely it would make sense that...".

That to me is exactly the formula.....I noted that when I was around when my wife would study, if I kept driving for an answer, they would keep working around what I asked, then try for the divide and conquer.....now I note that my wife's bs is scheduled when I am not around.
Yes they do stick to 'comfort scriptures'. What amazes me is when one asks a question from their own literature, even fairly recent literature, they are so quick with new light, we are only human, yadda yadda yadda.
Where I really got an elder to squirm is recent flip flops such as organ transplants, why it was ok, wrong and once again ok, all recent enough that the articles are on the wt cd. Another area is I asked why the number of remnant anointed keeps increasing, all he said is 'we are trying to figure that one out.'
I guess it all goes back to the witness pretty much believing in the infalliblity of the governing body......

Wow Blondie, thanks again so much for your great work.
Am hoping you are feeling much better.
Wife back from attending an assembly and now she is feeling guilty about not doing enough for Jehovah......I feel I have a few weeks of 'enthusiasm' to put up with....and with the impending holiday season, the big anti holiday push is sure to be following.....
You sure help me see the WT stuff from a JW perspective that I just don't have.
