JustHuman,
Is this info I can use from the insight book or the reasoning book......by the way, you all are great!!
when i got home today i noticed another stack of stuff on the kitchen table, more wt garbage, including the english version of reasoning from the scriptures as well as a copy of insight in the scriptures that sister gave my wife.
my wife said she wanted to 'read the bible', i asked a simple question why she needed all the other books to accomplish that...she said just to provide her some assistance.
she was also stating today how it really does not matter how people interpret the scriptures, because there is only one correct interpretation....i wanted to get sick...... is there anything in these books, since they are from 1988, that i can use to my benefit....for example does it talk about the annointed and the generation where i could ask her to look it up as compared to the new light..... just wondering, may be reaching here, but anything would help!

this is my first post so let me start out by saying hi haha.
i'm not a jehovah's witness and neither is anyone in my family.
my daughter is dating a born in though and there are obviously problems because of it.
Welcome KayKay,
Ask lots of questions and read the threads here, lots of great advice and better for her to find out now rather than later.....I did not learn about the grip of this organization until I was married. My wife has never been baptized, but 'yo-yos' in and out depending on her schedule and what has happened in the world to cause the 'end times' discussion to get active again!
my husband is a dfd dub even though he still believes all the crap.. .
we have a discussion yesterday where i basically said i feel like i was bamboozled because i didnt really have the option to choose.
if i had the choice, knowing what i know (growing up around a lot of jws in my life) i wouldnt make the choice to marry into the religion because i think its wacked, lol .
Mrs. Bee,
Am pretty much dealing with the same and it tends to crescendo during catastrophic world events (mainly due to the efficiency of todays news). My wife's family were all jws, and my wife has never been baptized and her parents are presently df, but she still believes in all the stuff, or maybe better said, she can not believe in a lot of the non jw doctrine due to jw bias.
Take some time to read the posts, there is some great info from jgnat, MJ, listener. Blondie, GGG and many others, and post questions, you may get a few flippant answers, but the folks here definitely want to help the best that they can.
If I would have known the bizarre attraction of the wts, I would not have married into it at all...but I am where I am and when my wife is outside of jw mode, she is absolutely wonderful, but when in the jw mindset, quite unbearable.
Watch for triggers and when in the jw mindset, there is nothing you will be able to do to help, but when out of the mindset, I have been given advice to plant seeds of doubt, ask questions, but never attack, for they are programmed immediately to react to an attack. There are some issues such as Trinity, cross and paradise earth that are so central to thier teachings and doctrine, they are almost impossible to discuss without a few days of jw mindset.
Was also told to do my best to get her non-jw friends to surround her......have been trying that again, trying to get her to have as much fun and excitement as I can so she can see actually how dull and repetitious the wts really is.

You are correct, on page 239 in the reasoning book,
"....Truly I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away until all things occur." (the "generation" that was alive at the beginning of fulfillment of the sign in 1914 is now well along in years. The time remaining must be very short. World conditions give every indication this is the case.)"
Now to just figure out a good way to get her to 'discover' this.....at least should start some thinking......

In her stack of stuff necessary to study the bible, she also has reasoning with the scriptures, does this agree with insight?

Thanks witnessgirl, should be some assistance......am trying to drop seeds every once in a while and now I will be able to ask her about the generation when she has these out and hopefully at least shall be one instance of a very current change of thinking/doctrine that has been made!
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????.
not sure if this is the board for me????????
.
Board does have a lot of fluff, but also no better place to get the opinion of very many people from all walks of lifes and backgrounds on almost anything you need!!
The folks here are great!!!
..."i am fully convinced that the devil knew that as his old system of things crumbled, he wouldn't be able to keep people from listening to us.. "so you know what he did?
he got the women out of the house and sent them off to work.. "now when we go door to door, the only ones we find home are the dogs.".
i warned ya!
Why would a woman want anything to do with the borg???
I am amazed that my wife who is a womens studies major, who has always fought for a woman's right would even listen one lick to the organization, but she gets me ill when she talks about there only being one truth (translated...only the jws have it correct)
the founder of (what is today called) jehovah's witnesses was a self-styled "pastor" charles taze russell.. his family was scottish presbyterian.
his mother must have inculcated all the fearsome lore of hell into her son at a very early age.
he often chalked on sidewalks warnings of hellfire for passers by as a child.. somewhere along the line he tangled with an atheist in a debate and was left torn to shreds by the beating he took.
Very interesting, I have asked my wife for a history of the JWs, this gives me a bit of a background, but I am sure it would not be viewed...
i just read a good thought on another thread and i want to use it on dubby.
i have heard that the recent dc drama was not bible-based (i.e.
no scriptural reference).
Have not been able to view myself, but I understand it is posted on youtube....I hope I get a chance when my wife is out to view......well maybe not for the content or the artistic value, but for the information and question formation value.
