Goodbye to JWD ... hello to JWN !
by Simon inas i announced some time ago, jwd as it is will not continue .... ... but .... it's clear from people's comments that they do like the site and many would like it or something else like it to continue.. one issue was the forum software that was self-developed and not really in a good state to hand-over to anyone but i've been working on that and can now reveal the first release of what will probably be called jwn (son of jwd):.

it is still work-in-progress so not all features are enabled yet but it will allow you to browse the site in a similar way to this one and it is pointing at the same database (although because of the way the caching works, new posts made on this site won't appear immediately).

A lot of the colleges in Canada have american football teams and there is a professional league in Canada as well. Also, it is starting to gain a bit of popularity in Europe as well.

The fanatacism for the game tends to vary by state and area in the state, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas have HUGE football fan support.....I live in the Hampton Roads Virginia area and we have great football players, but not very much fan support, which is a shame, cause the games are great!

I finally said it...It's time for us to get divorce
by kzjw ini asked my wife over the weekend for a divorce...1st let me say that this sight gives support for those affected by the borg - ex-jw's, ubm's etc...but it also consumes some of us.
of this i am guilty.
i have developed such a disdain for the wtbs that i can no longer have a conversation with my wife without attacking her religion.

I think the patience approach is where to go. My wife is presently only studying with the JWs, but I feel around the holidays they are a bit more vocal and aggressive than they normally are, trying to push their ways on people because it is what Jehovah wants. I hope to get through this weekend, and with the way my wife was last evening, it will be difficult, but then the few week stretch to Christmas will start ok, but get worse, but I need to look at all the qualities of the woman, not the ones being imposed on her by the organization and realize if she and I can come to some compromise, some meeting of the minds that there are many wonderful qualities about her.....
It is not easy, I am not a patient person, so this goes against my grain...but I see no other path right now that has a hope of working. When I push back she talks to the dubs and pushes back even harder......when I ask the innocent but leading question, she also goes to the dubs, but I can only hope it is making her think as well......

are jws qualified to teach the bible?
by badboy inin the tract delivered saturday, it said that a neighbour qualified to teach the bible would come around if you wanted.. are they actually qualfiied?.

If you call reading from a wts book and then reading individual verses, then yes....but when I have asked my wife or her study sister about studying the Bible....they are lost without the pubs......in fact my wife all but parrotted the WTS when she said one can not interpret it without the assistance of the pubs.

Professional Counseling vs. "Bible Study"
by insearchoftruth inwe found out that my stepson had committed a crime against our neighbor, having stolen a significant amount which would amount to larceny.
the neighbor has agreed to not call the police due to the desire to not have a record pinned against our child, with the agreement that we obtain counseling for him.
my wife has still not sought out the professional counseling, but has him instead doing a 'bible study' with a member of the congregation she is studying with (happens to be the husband of the gal she is studying with) reading various chapters of the young people ask 2 book.

He has already seen some stuff from 'boards like this'........his mom's youngest brother is his age and has already told our son that he can not wait to get out of the house so he never has to do any JW stuff again.........oh the glass house my wife is living in....
