I will at peace with god when he acts in a peaceful manner. 'Worship me or i'll kill you' does not smack of peace to me.

I think they after me now!!!
by flag in2 days ago i received a phone call from an elder that recently moved to the cong i was in.. this elder is the type that feels that he is a big shot!
he gives parts in dc and ca's.. he asked me if he can come to visit, i told him that my husband had to be present and he had to call in advance to make an appointment.. this elder is so obnoxious and treat women as a 2nd class citizens.
any suggestions?.

What are you doing to stay healthy ??

personally, im into bodybuilding since a couple of months and i love it !
im eating cleaner than ever (but not as i would like) and exercise 4 days a week.

I'm a YMCA General Populations Personal Trainer (CYQ) so i'm up there. For me C.V. is rowing and running and Resistance is 'strength' training, none of my sets really stray above 7 or 8. Big on Vit C and loads of vegetables and fresh fruit. White meats and fish. Loads of water and fresh air. I could go on, suffice to say that we should ALL strive to keep as healthy as possible ALL the time, life is for living to the best degree possible. My motto on my literature is.....Don't SIT there....... GET there! Oh and stretching is soooo important, stretch, stretch,stretch.

i served as the presiding overseer for 10 years, and as chairman and media spokes-person for a particular region.
during my time within the organisation that being almost 30 years, i have concluded that there is, as far as my own experience is concerned grave doubt in my mind as to the existence of the devil and his demonic hoard.

It must have really freaked you out what happened to you, but i'm afraid i agree with the above posters on the real cause of this experience. The weight on the chest thing and not being able to breath and shout out whilst still awake?......That's happened to me a few times. At first i thought the same as you, it's a reeeeeaally weird experience, but if you read up on the above offered medical information, i think you may see what FunkyD and the rest are trying to tell you.

Whilst i believe that guilt can be a good thing in regulating our consciences, it is also the tool that makes us maleable in the hands of the religious hierachy. It can make us into 'Epsilon-Minus Semi-Morons' (Aldous Huxley-Brave New World).

Your post reminds me of a young man from the local cong i left. He's in his early 20's, works in a local pie/food shop (his mum is also an employee) earning peanuts. He was raised in the faith, pioneers, lives with his mum and to be frank.....doesn't stand a bloody chance of ever getting out of the org, he'll never make it! He's sooooo dependent. Really sad, but illustrates the point of your post.

we wouldn't categorise children according to their parents' political stance, since they are too young to make up their minds about such matters.

In the past, when i was in a sticky situation i used to think 'Help me god, i need your wisdom'. But it's occurred to me (and this is all about breaking free from the hold of religion/god) that i'm perfectly capable of sorting out my own life, ta very much!!! I've been used to being tied to religious belief for 35 years and always looked somewhere else for guidance, but no more. It's hard to imagine for someone that was as deeply entrenched in it as me how hard it has been not to look up to the sky and seek guidance, but i'm free of that now. We are all perfectly capable of living life in total alienation from our imaginary friend. Religion is for people that can't work on their own. Opium of the people????? Ohhh YES!!!

Couldn't agree more with that statement!! Spectrum, maybe it's old hat to say this now but have you read 'Jehovah Unmasked' by Nathan Merritt? If not i recommend it to you. Some of it has to be taken with a pinch of salt IMO, but it's also very enlightening too. The Insight book estimates that the number of people killed in just the first 7 nations the Israelites came across was 3 million. Again.....3 MILLION!! As i've said on similar threads, there is NEVER, NEVER any excuse for killing children and babies. Why did god make them do it? Did he? Or did a genocidal human leader poison the minds of impressionable minions to carry out his perverted cause?? Hmmm....Hitler wasn't the first by a long chalk.
