Petition: Tell Museums to Stop Hiding Watchtower's Past
by rebel8 inplease sign this petition: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/watchtower-hitler/ .
tell holocaust memorial museums all over the world they should stop hiding the truth about the watchtower societys decades-long anti-semitic/pro-hitler stance.
while individual jehovahs witnesses were suffering at the hands of the nazis, its mother organization was outspokenly supporting hitler and demeaning jews.

The raving ranting demonstrators at Yankee Stadium back in the 1970s and 80s had no affect on me.
Other than, they were "of Satan" and just pushed me further into my mother's chosen cult.
Epic fail. To this day I have nothing but sheer resentment towards them.
So I focus instead on "worldly people."
Worldly people don't give a flying eff that JW children are abused, that happens in every faith.
Worldly people don't give a flying eff that JWs refuse blood. So what if stupid people reject medicine? That's their own fault, right?
What they truly want to know is how to get JWs off their doorsteps. Just make them go away.
Simple simple. Politely explain how to be put on the Do Not Call List. You can shut down entire neighborhoods this way. The results are exponential. You can rant, rave, b*tch and scream all you want at JWs and nothing will get through to them. Scientific facts and documented history mean nothing to them.
But speak with your neighbors, coworkers, classmates about how to *legally* address their incessant preaching, and everyone wants to know about the Witnesses.
How to get rid of them.

Well, wha… if you'd bother to click the link to Mr. Kelly's site that I so conveeeeeniently provided…
Who Are the Ghosts from Mama’s Club?
Published by Richard E. "Dick" Kelly at 6:00 pm under Book Reviews,Jehovah's Witnesses
The “ghosts” I refer to in my new book, which will be published in May, are metaphors for the toxic residue—dysfunctional behavior patterns—that people acquire during their time in a cult, in my case Jehovah’s Witnesses. These “ghosts” manifest themselves in various forms. True cult believers will see the ghosts as warrior angels, championing God’s truth. But individuals who decide to abandon their high-control religious experience will encounter haunting Ghosts, ghosts with the potential to hinder them from becoming mature individuals able to lead productive lives.
In either case, the ghosts are active agents in the life of both the believers and the former believers, acting as wardens, trying to restrict actions and thoughts. Each ghost is capable of reconstituting itself in many shapes and forms in an effort to bedevil those people who try to leave the cult as well as those who have left it. The six ghosts that you will meet in this book are:
1. The Ghost of Misinformation – This is the most insidious of the ghosts. It creeps into one’s life in various ways, constantly affecting one’s decisions, thoughts and actions. For instance, in the case of Jehovah’s Witnesses, this ghost insists that one will die at Armageddon unless…
2. The Ghost of Separation – Shunning is the principal manifestation of this ghost. This ghost also uses separation anxiety to make it difficult to bring closure to a person’s cult experience.
3. The Ghost of Inadequacy – The manifestations of this ghost are an inability to think for oneself, an inability to articulate well-thought out beliefs, and a nagging feeling of inadequacy, especially by women.
4. The Ghost of Dependency – The manifestations of this ghost are an inability to assimilate into mainstream society, a need to control and put down other people, a lack of self-control and an attraction to high-control religious groups and/or people.
5. The Ghost of Guilt – This ghost leaves its victim in a constant state of guilt.
6. The Ghost of Indignation – Blaming the cult for one’s complicity—taking no responsibility for going along with the rules and constraints—and obsessively trying to topple the cult are two reactions that characteristically beset people who have emancipated themselves from their indoctrinations.
While I tell my story in The Ghosts from Mama’s Club, I’ll explain why I have enumerated the ghosts as I have and thoroughly explain the ways in which each ghost affects the lives of those who are still manacled as well as those, like myself, who have freed themselves of those shackles. But please do not forget, my book is about real people—the good, the bad and it is what it is—and their struggles to find meaning in their lives.

fade_away, Deep love and respect for your brother and all who knew him really shine through in your post. So sorry for your loss.
This thread is asking athiests what's the best way for us to deal with death? The afterlife and resurrection fantasies are nice wishful thinking, but the real world needs something just as comforting.
Consider this recent topic? It helped me think about losing close family members in quite a different perspective than we were once taught.

No endorsements here, but Women for Sobriety may be a worthwhile female-only environment to avoid the many challenges New Chapter mentions for women in AA. Instead of 12 steps, they have 13 affirmations which appear helpful for recovering JWs, too.
Many links for "Non-cult Pro-Recovery" at http://www.orange-papers.org/. Again, cannot offer any endorsements but there's lots of non-AA resources to wade through there.
Addicts typically eat poorly. Most suffer from nutritional deficiencies. Since your niece qualifies for government assistance, is it possible for her to access a nutritionist who can help her heal and rebuild her whole body? Rehab therapy and/or meds can only go so far if she is physically run down from the inside out. Fresh fruits and veggies, low carbs to avoid blood sugar swings, and plenty of water daily to stay hydrated are so key even for non-addicts. Maybe a vitamin/mineral or protein supplement? Women in particular need extra iron… and B-complex can do wonders for people under stress, yet alone recovering from addiction.WhereWasI, best wishes for strength and peace for your family as you advocate for your niece, and especially for her healthy outcome.

Your Thoughts, Please (Seriously)...
by AGuest inmay you all have peace!.
on occasion, dear ones post questions on the board that have a "legal" undertone.
sometimes those questions are just trying to get a sense of what questions such one should ask (perhaps of an attorney), sometimes they have to do with very ordinary events, and sometimes they really do require in-depth legal assistance/analysis.

This:
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye."
And this: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/Home/TermsOfUse
If the discussion board's Terms Of Use don't satisfy this sad pi$$ing contest amongst resident NPDs, nothing else can or will.
