  ... from you jwd members, to my idea to bombard bethel with phone calls.

  it seems to me to be a very effective way to protest and i have had great experiences with it.

  i just can't understand the lackluster response from you all.

  I've had my mother call to ask a simple question, knowing the reply she would get.

  It opened her eyes a bit.

  i think they are very nice people and we have good conversations,but recently something disturbed me.

  i was suprised that they had no knowledge of the recent lawsuit settlements and actually denied it was true.

   I called HQ under this guise: I am an interested person who has two JW's

  visiting me periodically. I think they are very nice people and we have good conversations,

  but recently something disturbed me. I was suprised that they had no knowledge of the recent 

  lawsuit settlements and actually denied it was true. Showing them the newspaper article 

  didn't move them. I would think they would want to contact the newspaper demanding a retraction.

   I'm calling to confirm whether it is 

  true, and if so why those going from door to door haven't been informed.

  The brother on the line said it was true, there had been settlements and he couldn't tell me 

  why the decision was made to 

  not inform all JW's as to the lawsuit. He just worked in the office and could only 

  say that anyone that had questions about it could call as I did.

  I asked him if he understood that from my perspective as an outsider it appeared 

  they were hiding bad news about themselves, which I found odd because in their

  literature they are very vocal about other religions pedophile problems. It also made me wonder

  what else they might not be telling about themselves. I also asked him why they would choose 

  to allow their members to remain uninformed and therefore lose credibility with those

  they speak to at the door. He said they spoke about other religions pedophile problems in

  the context of it being just one of many things that showed they were false. I said don't 

  you think it would be better to prove them false without mentioning things that you are 

  also guilty of? To talk about others while keeping quiet about yourself appears hypocritical to

  me. 
   
  I told him I needed to know if my donations were going towards making more literature
   
  or lawsuit settlements, because if it was the latter I could not take the magazines any longer.
   
  He said I didn't have to donate but I should definitely read the magazines. I asked why, when 
   
  as I read, I will have to weigh what is being said against what is not being said.
  I could hear the discouragement in his voice, as he commended my sincerity and told me that 

  he recieved many calls like mine and that I raised some very good points, he was sorry he

  could not tell me why the decision was made to not make the settlement known to all JWs. 

  He told me I could have the JWs that visited me call as I had for more information.

  It sounded as if our conversation had deflated him, I kinda felt sorry for him.

  What told you that no holy spirit was moving the BOE?

  i've read on and off here of various things that told people that god's spirit was not directing the organisation.. personally for me on the last time i got dfed it was the fact that i got reinstated by a meeting of the boe at the exact same moment i was smoking my first cigarettes in 7 months.

  i didnt question it exactly but it did seem odd.

  i mean i had no idea that they were discussing my reinstatement at that moment that i succumbed and had decided in my favour.

  I too gave Brooklyn the benefit of the doubt. I saw the local elders hypocrisy but felt

  the GB were different, after all they were Christ spiritual brothers. Well after I experienced first hand how they blantantly

  refused to follow the same theocratic instructions and biblical advice they dispense, I began to see them for what they truly were,

  Power tripping, hypocritical men spewing authoritarian rethoric. Ready to disgard people like used tissues.

  Researching the real history of the organization revealed to me that Jehovah had nothing to do with Russels erroneous speculations and has nothing to do with the GB speculations today.

  Does holy spirit make mistakes? Did holy spirit

  allow imperfect men to communicate God's word without mistakes? Is the holy spirit less powerful today than it was then? So why do the GB, while claiming to have this same holy spirit, consistently make mistakes?

  Simple..............they don't have it.

  That's something I've thought about. If Satan could infiltrate and corrupt the religious leaders of Isreal why couldn't

  he do the same to the WBTS? It would make sense to corrupt the top, producing a trickle down effect. If he could corrupt

  angels in heaven, imperfect old men are a piece of cake....with icing. Just as the nation of Isreal lost jehovahs backing so

  have the WBTS. But looking at the history of Russel, one could argue quite convincingly that they never had it.

  also can anyone remember the question (directed at everyone except jw's) from a watchtower or awake saying something along the lines of "can you be proud of all the actions of the religion you are a part of?.

  What if you put an envelope in the box- "For the Lawsuits" ?

  another thread made a similar suggestion, so i thought what if....?.

  what would happen if you put an envelope in the donation box with a check, and on the .

  envelope (also on the comments portion of the check) it said "for the child-abuse lawsuits".

  I showed a copy of the local newspaper with the lawsuit article to a couple of JW's

  standing on the corner with their magazines. They flat out said they

  didn't believe the article. Even though they had not even heard about it.I told them I had called

  their headquarters in Brooklyn to confirm the article. They still wouldn't believe it.

  Brain-washed and brain-dead. Local elders probably have no clue about the lawsuits. Perhaps a copy

  of the article with the dollar might make a flicker in a brain

  that hasn't been used in some time. Then again as my experience showed, it probably won't.

  Our Watchtower Study On obedience & submission

  yesterday we have a study of the watchtower about obedience and submission.

  this study arose a lot of questions and heightened emotions in me and the interested retired judge sitting besides me.

  we came accross the 9th pharagraph, page 28 of the april 1, 2007, where it says that: "it is easy to obey when everything is clear and we agree, but we will show that we are trully submissive if we yeild even when we do not personally understand the direction provided.

  The brain is just like a muscle. Worked regularly it becomes strong and sharp. Thinking for most JW's

  is work they don't do. They have been duped for so long into believing that allowing the org think and make decisions for them

  is synonymous with loyalty to Jehovah, that they now suffer from mental atrophy when it comes to making spiritual decisions.

  For example, any thinking persons would reason wait a minute, how do you harmonize their demanding unquestioned obedience

  with

  (Psalm 146:3) . . .Do not put YOUR trust in nobles, Nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs.

  (1 John 4:1)

  Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.

  (Matthew 7:7-8) 7 "Keep on asking, and it will be given YOU; keep on seeking, and YOU will find; keep on knocking, and it will be opened to YOU. 8 For everyone asking receives, and everyone seeking finds, and to everyone knocking it will be opened.

  Loyal JW's brains have been mushed so much and so long by the org that they can't even see simple and blantant contridictions to the bible.

  If we care anything about others, we warn them of danger. Especially if we have personal experience concerning that danger.

  To allow another to blindly fall into a hole we struggled to climb out of, would be heartless. Wouldn't we want someone

  to alert us of a danger we knew nothing about? "There's more happiness in giving than in receiving" right, so giving the truth about "the truth" brings happiness to us and them, if they listen. If not, at least we know we did what we could.

  Someone said earlier that you can't get revenge against a corporation or organization. Corporations, organizations and even governments have been brought down by the persistence and determination of those that fought for what was right and just.

  i applaud the outcome that love/norris accomplished for the sixteen victims of abuse.. but, i have a concern.

  it is this: for the rank and file jw, won't they view this as their "faithful and discreet" slave just got beat up by those awful apostates (associating this with the silent lambs group) ?.

  i feel for some jws who are "sitting on the fence" to use their term that hopefully they will think long and hard about what is happening in the organization - considering the facts.. what do you think?.
