Every morning groups will have to assemble to read the Day's Text, an excerpt from the Watchtower magazine. Attendance is mandatory, as ill health is no excuse - anyone who doesn't attend will be swallowed up by the earth. There won't be field service any more, so there'll have to be some other way of wasting time - maybe counting blades of grass in a field? There'll also be Kingdom Melody singing sessions. Praising Jehovah for all eternity - what a privilege!

Rules in the New System
by King Solomon inok, so even if laws are to be written on people's hearts vs spelled out into lawbooks, there's going to have to be some laws in the new system of things, right?
i say we get the ball rolling and brainstorm what they should be: after all, none of us got invited to the party anyway but since there just ain't going to be any party, why let that spoil our fun?
so, the theme is laws to be in effect in the new system.

Did you know that God will terminate your supervisors employment, and give you their old job?
by Theocratic Sedition inaccording to the wt study yesterday, that's what happened.. 16. by allowing jehovah to instruct us and lead us in the path of uprightness, we will have no cause for fear.
when a regular pioneer in the united states applied for a job that would help him to keep his entire family in full-time service, his supervisor told him that he would never get that position without a college degree.
had this happened to you, would you have regretted pursuing full-time service to the exclusion of seeking higher education?

Stories such as these would seem to encourage JW's who own businesses to show favouritism towards other JW's when hiring. After all, if it's a good thing for a non-JW to prefer to hire JW's, it's surely a good thing for JW's as well?

It has gone up by about 20% in my old congregation, solely because of immigration.

The "new" scrolls are abandoned - No explanation given!
by The Searcher inthe september 1st watchtower 2012, page 16, discards very quietly a false teaching first invented in 1985, and repeated 4 times since - "new scrolls" - interpolating revelation 20:12. here is what it says;.
"the resurrected ones will be judged, not on the basis of what they did before they died, but on what they do when the contents of the "scrolls" mentioned in revelation chapter 20 are revealed.
(romans 6:7) among those who will come back to life and have the opportunity to learn about god are "both the righteous and the unrighteous," said the apostle paul.

I'd never thought about this before, but you're right - according to JW teaching, the ransom doesn't apply to the resurrected!

Will Hitler be forgiven just because he died????????
by The Searcher ini cannot fathom how the vast majority of my 7.5 million brothers and sisters, (especially all who are members of the worldwide order of special full-time servants of jehovahs witnesses) can believe for one second, the "given" explanation of romans 6:7. this is what taught; .
insight book - 2p.138judgmentday - "those resurrected will not be judged on the basis of the works done in their former life, because the rule at romans 6:7 says: he who has died has been acquitted from his sin.".
therefore, the following 6 scriptures can be ripped out of our bibles, because jesus does not have the god-given right to judge any dead people - because our own death has washed our sins away!!!

I don't see any use at being angry at a dead person. They can't do anything any more, are no obstacle to anything you might want to do or achieve.

No more 3-day DCs starting in 2013?
by respectful_observer inapologies if there is another recent thread on this, but i have heard from 4 different people in 3 different geographic areas (including someone who does advance work for the dcs), that beginning in 2013 the three day dc program will be replaced by a second two-day circuit assembly.
some people were passing the info along like a secret, others seemed to think that everyone already knew.. if everyone in j-dub land is already talking about this, how is it not all over this forum??.
anyway, can anyone confirm or deny?.

I know that this won't tell you much, but I've found out that at least one venue in the UK which has been used for district convention for many years will not be hosting one in 2013.

No More Missionaries
by Lunatic Faith inhas anyone heard about this?
we received an email from an old friend who is still an elder and doesn't know what we are up to.
"a change, they are no longer training missionaries and sending them into foreign fields.
-
stapler99
Well, I know now that at least some missionary homes are being sold and current missionaries will have to sort out their own accommodation. Some of the men might be appointed as circuit overseers in the countries they were assigned to. Apart from that I don't know if there will be any kind of continuing assignment.

Why wasn't the Issue of Universal Sovereignty raised amongst the angels long before Adam and Eve
by yadda yadda 2 inif there were millions of angels in existence long before adam and eve were created, how come god's sovereignty wasn't challenged in heaven long before the garden of eden?
why did this so-called issue only begin when adam and eve appeared?
how could there not be a single rebellious angel before the appearance of humans?

The explanations in the JW literature about Universal Sovereignty never had a lot of Bible citations. I never felt like it was being proved properly.

List of Branch Offices and Country Offices of Jehovah's Witnesses
by cedars ini'm trying to put together a comprehensive master list of watch tower society branch offices that corresponds roughly with the figure published in the worldwide report.. i feel it would be useful to monitor the number and location of existing branch offices, because i believe the distribution of branch offices worldwide is a good indicator of the society's financial wellbeing.
we now seem to be entering a period of branch office closures, with last year seeing an unprecendented 16% reduction in branch office numbers over the year before.
it will be interesting to see how things develop moving forward, but i'm hoping that by keeping a list of the offices we will be better placed to keep track of the "retreat" if branch office numbers continue to dwindle.. here we go.... .

-

No, why the heck should you!? This just makes it look like you are agreeing with your wife that the children should attend the meeting.
