Your Advice Needed! What Appears Like My Only Way Out....
by drew sagan inwell gang, let me tell you a little bit about what is going on in my world.
for about the past 2 years i've gone through all the formations and as many of you have known from reading my posts i've pretty much have moved way beyond the watchtower in my mind many months ago.
coming to this board has helped with the process much, as well as getting my hands on alot of good reading material.

What might also help to to get material (pictures as a example) http://www.freeminds.org/history/cemetary.htm of the Watchtowers past and stick them in the den or leave them around the house. I have a few pictures of Russells pyramid and charts, one of them waiting to go to
heavenAlso, you might want a copy of all the child molestation news video on your desktop
http://www.silentlambs.org/education/multimedia.cfm, audio downloaded at the freeminds.org website

from various talks including the 1975 incident. In addition, pick up several books (do it slowly so not to overwhelm her); personally,
I picked up the two Franz books, the Olof book on the gentile times
reconsidered, Expecting Armageddon by Jon R. Stone (basically a collection of
essays by different researchers on various religious sects (most prominently the
JW's) and the psychology of why people stay, absolutely amazing.... There are
plenty of books out their, pick and choose which ones sound good. But from a practical stand point, she needs a support structure; without that,
she will feel lost. Start developing friends outside the organization.
What has really helped me was the support of my non-witness brother and his wife
who listened to my vents and offered non judgmental support. At this point
I plan on looking into nondenominational churches and a complete reading of the
Greek scriptures and then the whole bible. I am also going back to college
and taking a few courses, your wife may want a try at that.As Finally-Free mentioned
Whatever you decide, the more you are
involved with the JWs the more difficult it will be to leave. If you plan to
leave, I strongly suggest both you and your wife develop a real-life support
network of non JWs.I like what lovelylil done
One thing I did learn was to take the
time to find out what I really believed in. I simply told my hubby that I would
respect his beliefs but that I needed a short time to figure out what I believed
because I did not know at that point. I asked for some personal space. Then, I
did not try to attack his belief in the JWs at all. Once I felt sure of what I
believed and why then I went to my hubby and told him. It was still hard. He
went crazy and threatened me with divorce. But, I told him that was his decision
and I was in no way advocating it. And I gave him time to calm down and just
kept treating him with respect. After that, as opportunity came up, I would ask
him Q's that would make him think. All this advice sounds good to me

Brain Science Teaches You How to Fade Away As a JW!!!!
by metatron inso, you feel trapped as jehovah's witness and want to get out, but don't know how?
you keep agonizing about your witness family.
and "friends" ( trust me, very few witnesses are really your friends, since their friendship is entirely conditional on meeting attendance.

hey metatron I'm curious as to where you found this material from (what publication). I would like to follow up on in. I'm reading the book 'Expecting Armaggedon - essential readings in failed prophecy' edited by Jon R. Stone.... what a fasinating book. Your findings would help to explain the reasoning of people who continue to believe in a false prophets (any false prophet from any religion) despite solid empirical evidence to the contrary. thanks

Life IN or Out of JW's suck
by Smoky ini've been keeping tabs on my old congregation for the last 3+ years (i dont even remember when was the last time i went to a meeting) it is not easy, i have joined a site named 'bebo' and have a handfull of so called 'friends' in my network.
mostly from my old congregation, they seem to acknowledge my existence, but keep there distance.
no one ever invites me to anything or to hang out.. time flies and things change.

I couldn't agree more with the various replies. Ask yourself, what 2 things could I be doing that can have a significant impact on my life? Then ask yourself, why am I not doing them? You need to take control of your life and you can do it man.

meh, you're alright. WOW! You're this dumb: 21%! You're all right in my book, still alot dumber then you should be, but not a complete waste of space. Take pride in the fact that your still smarter then most people. i guess that means that 79% of my brain is working... I wonder what the GB's would score??? I wonder if it is more fun being a doorknob or a complete waste of space???

How long did it take you to get over it?
by AK - Jeff inone of the posters here - before i knew she was a poster here - in fact before i knew of this site at all, sent me an email early on in my exit.
she likened the whole leaving thing with grieving over a dead loved one - said it took most about two years to work thru all the phases of that loss - denial, anger, etc.. i think she had it about right - that's about how long it took me.
but without jwd it would have been longer.

Well, I'd say I went through a prolonged and painful leaving process. I noticed things weren't a 100% in the late eighties and everything just got worse from there. I finally started separating myself emotionally around 1999 to now. (I felt the disllusionment around the late 90's and the anger for the last few years. Bear in mind I wasn't getting involved in discussion boards until this year unfortunately. If I had been a bit more diligent earlier on, I could have saved myself alot of grief. I look back now and have to shake my head and wonder how I could have been so blind. But for what it's worth, I'm glad I separated myself and life really has been alot better.

Please don't damage the tombstone, it serves as a example of how cultish and wild the societies roots are and also a wakeup call for all JW's to look into the organization's past. If you damage the tombstone, it takes away a little of that evidence of the societies past. One day this year I will go to Penn to take pictures to show some of the friends (I'm still in the organization).
