Every time I see an old "prophecy" that wasn't fulfilled it helps reinforce that I have made the right decision. Now here is one even as recent as 1984!!

personally i find myself doubting anything and everything i learned about the bible and religion.
Raised JW - DF'd about 12 years ago.
I also questioned everything I ever learned about the bible - Christianity - the whole thing. I pretty much dropped anything and everything to do with religion and just went on my merry way.
2 years ago I went to a local church (long story as to why) and it was amazing - really uplifting (never been uplifted in the kh)!! I started going regularly because I was learning a lot about the bible and it was encouraging to me.
I then started studying history/archeology/etc on my own to prove or disprove the bible once and for all.
Currently I am a born-again christian, I'm still studying the bible thing. I believe it now - but continue to research - I think it's always a good idea to keep searching and keep an open mind.
What I learned....true Christianity is not in a church or religion - it's a relationship between you and Jesus, it's a way of life and it starts with your heart not works. When your heart is in the right place, the works just come naturally. But if you don't really believe it - then all the "works" in the world aren't doing you any good.

And his point would be?......seems funny how he tried to shift the focus from "What's in the files" to "How she got the files" - I see the same tactic here at work - it's used by people called the "Defense Attorneys".

I think it is quite interesting also that they keep saying we'll "Wait on Jehovah" and "Jehovah will take care of it" - seems to me he's been trying to and they're not listening.
Maybe the Dateline was a "hello - anyone home - I'm talking to YOU!!!" message - I belive he did the same with the Catholic Church.
They're all talking about waiting on God but noone is really looking for his response!!
Just a side note - I don't think he ever expected us to sit around waiting for him to say "ok - let's fix what's wrong" - we're supposed to do that on our own. I mean, come on!! Do we need God to step in every time and say "come on boys and girls let's do what we know we're supposed to!!"

It's really quite easy - they'll send you flyers via e-mail to print out when a child is reported missing from your area/region. I get about 10 a week. Simply print them out and post them at your local supermarket, 7-11, wherever you go on shopping/errands/etc.
I went to the management at each store first to explain that I was a volunteer and asked if I could periodically post new flyers - I haven't had one store turn me down.
Just thought I'd pass this along - it's a small way that we could all contribute to help children.

Sad but true!! I seen so much of this first hand - still do from my JW relatives.
I believe it is because JW's are not taught to be compassionate. For example, how many give $$ to charity (besides the WTBS) for a reason other than tax write off? How many would volunteer their time for a worth-while cause that they could not count as service time such as visiting the forgotten elderly in nursing homes, volunteering in the school district, or even going oversees to work in an Orphanage?
Many view it a priviledge to travel the country working on "quick builds" - I would be shocked to find ONE JW who spent a weekend pounding in nails to build homes for low-income families through charities like Habitat for Humanity.
JW's are giving and appropriately compassionate only to their own and those they feel are making "spiritual progress" - not because they are bad/evil people, but because they are constantly reminded to spend their time/energy on the Kingdom Work. After all - everyone else outside of the organization is part of Satan's world.
Over time compassion for mankind is simply chisseled away.
i posted recently about how i attended a humanist funeral for my pal knocker john.
no prayers, no hymns, just a natural goodbye that, in itself, contained a healing element that somewhat counteracted our feelings of grief.. then i think back to the funeral of my dad in the 80s.
it was, quite simply, nothing more than a commercial for the witness religion.
Englishman - I can certainly feel for you. I arranged and attended my father's funeral last year - he was an elder and I am DF'd. It was really hard!! And to be shunned during the services on top of it all - what a wonderfully loving example eh?
My mother is also up there in years. So I thought that next time around I would follow through with her wish of having a JW memorial service at the Kingdom Hall, but I'll skeedaddle out of there immediately and go to my own home where I'll have a memorial gathering my way with my friends and family to say goodby in our own way!
