Lucious.... I am so sorry for what you are going through. You never know if she may come around or not. I hope your kids will be able to continue to have contact with her, that would be awful if she cut them off too. Maybe once the shock wears off she will come to her senses. Just live and be free............

Has anybody successfully quit using caffeine altogether?
by DanTheMan inmy anxiety and stress levels are really bad lately.
i think i'd be doing myself a favor to quit caffeine, as it has become a real catch-22 for me, where i need it to stay awake, but it causes me to lose sleep, so i need more of it to stay awake, etc.. i've learned through experience that i'm very sensitive to any sort of chemical substance that affects neurotransmitter flow, and, given my general propensity towards depression/anxiety/paranoia/add, i think that at least one thing i could do to give me a calmer, more stable neurotransmitter mix would be to eliminate caffeine.
i've tried to reduce before, and i've found that i just start making excuses to have a little more, a little more, until i'm right back where i started.. so, i'm just wondering if anybody else has had a similar experience where they felt the need to not just reduce but eliminate caffeine altogether, and if so, how did it go, did it help, how long has it been, etc.

I did when I was pregnant and I tell you, I never felt better. For me its more of the comfort of having something warm in a cup in the morning. I replaced it first with green tea, then decaff tea. I still had my habit, but no caffeine....worked well

Wow, I had no idea this existed, that is crazy. I am still confused about how it works as a charity. Do the owners make moneey or not?? And its private owners, is that correct? Does the society have anything to do with it??

I don't think all witnesses are bad people. They can be just as nice as non JW. Sometimes their personalities won't let them be rude to non JW, even if that is what they are taught. Some truly are christian like people, I think that is all thats going on...

Were you ever jealous of ones that left????
by mama1119 ini always wondered how they had the balls to do it.
and especially if they seemed happy with no remorse, and were able to celebrate holidays and live "normal" lives.
i remember wishing, in my early twenties, that i had the strength to do that.

I was. I always wondered how they had the balls to do it. And especially if they seemed happy with no remorse, and were able to celebrate holidays and live "normal" lives. I remember wishing, in my early twenties, that I had the strength to do that. I eventually did. I think that is why witnesses treat us so bad sometimes, they are actually jealous we had the strenth the free ourselves. Anyone agree or disagree??

How old are your kids?? Are they regular attenders?? I went when I was 13 and it was very persuasive and really makes you feel like you have something special there, especially at that age. They are soooooo nice to tour groups and make it seem like the happiest, coziest place on earth. I think dissing it is just going to make it look better for them

JW's asking for money
by sinis inmy wife was telling my jw friend who is visiting that for the past few meetings the brothers have been telling the cong that no one is donating and that they need money.
i told her it sounded like the end was coming.
she looked at me puzzled, as my friend did, and i explained what charley had originally said about when the money dried up it meant the jehovah no longer needed them.

JW are not suppossed to give to charity or help out less fortunate non JW because then they are not putting faith in the paradise, right. Also, why would you try to help people when you can spend that time in field service, isn;t that the arguement????

I know I shouldn't let it but it gets right up my nose
by uriah inwhen i am having a conversation with a family member who is a jw about the jw's and how i wasted the best years of my life following a cult, they come back with .
"yes but being a jw saved you from std's, drugs..." and all the usual stuff jw's are supposed to be protected from.
it seems to me that jw's think that they are the only people in the world who do the right thing and anyone else is up to their neck in crap, doing drugs and other unsplendid things and being a jw 'saved' me from these things as i am bound to have done them if i hadn't have been one.

I remember you would always hear horror stories about people that left, somehow it always enden up a so and so was now homeless, and so and so was now a prostitute, but then you would see these people in public, not at all homeless or prostitutes and wonder what the heck, I thought they were miserable horrible people...turns out it was the other way around

Disassociate Ones Are Apostates.Watchtower Quote
by ThomasCovenant indidn't realize the actual link before.
watchtower '85 15th july page 31 questions from readers.
aid to bible understanding shows that the word apostasy comes from a greek word that literally means a standing away from but has the sense of desertion, abandonment or rebellion.

Remember when apostates would stand outside of assemblies with signs and shout stuff and we were told not to even look at them because they were so bad, like little demons or something. Why dont we do that anymore. Im going to start something up....
