One thing you have to thik about is people who are manipulated by some of the best manipulators in the world are bound to become manipulators themselves. Not to mention that parents themselves know what words to use. I think that by her saying it is not showing respect to her is a way of getting you to do exactly what she wants. She probably knew exactly what words to use for YOU.

of course, i had my reasons all laid out (going to the meetings would be hypocrite of my part, etc.

Watchtower style architecture
by sleepy inso was it just me or are the architectual designs of kingdom halls absolutely bland and uninspiring?.
i suppose it just like the pictures in the mags middle of the road and all that.. if there was a new system and the watchtower society had control on thing i wonder if they would insist on standardised designs .. 3 or 4 designs for each country to chose from.. if you think that is far fetched that is exactly the policy they have today for kingdom hall design.
there are several predesigned stadardised halls to chose from.

From what was told to us in the late 70's or early 80's, they don't have windows because of possible attacks (bombs) from others. I remember them saying there had been a bomb in a hall in France. That is all that I remember.

the thing that got me was the gb's apparently unselfconsciously acting above all the rules that they would apply so harshly to everyone else.
maybe i'm naive, but i didn't expect that level of hypocrisy.. so what did you find most shocking in coc?

What is the true Religion?
by deadlyskilz init seems to me this site is full of anti jehovah's witness members.its easy to point out weaknesses of others or the organization they represent.jehovah's witnesses do often with other religions.if you all have decided that jehovah's witnesses are bad people or that the organization is false,then which one is the true religion?which religion teaches the correct doctrines?which religion represents gods truth?this question is for anyone.i'm asking this question with sincerity.

I personally do not believe that their is one true religion now. I feel that when God took away the "right" to the Jewish people he opened up new avenues for others. Comes to mind the old saying "When a door is closed other doors open." In the New Testament it talks about a group of people that carry the name of God. Put Jehovah or whatever you want in there. To me, a true Christian is a person who is doing 110% into whatever they feel that God is teling them to do. For me it is to follow the 10 commandments and the extras that Jesus stated while on earth. One of those being "Love thy neighbor as thyself." I feel that if we, each and every one of us, follow those basic rules we cannot fail. Whatever it takes to make us a better person and closer to God..................how can it be wrong?

This is in response to vitameatavegamin (whew! what a name) Recently a nurse explained to me how the pill works. It does not stop the ovulation when used with the ( can't remember what they are called) last different colored pills taken during meses. What the full cycle of the pill does is makes the uterus not accept, or allow the implantation of a fertilised egg. So what is happening according to some, a beginning of life not given the chance to survive due to not being implanted in the womb.
