What is the quickest time frame that a Reinstated JW's got DF'd again?

my co worker tammy(not her real name) was disfellowshipped twice once in 2002 and again in 2005. she was reinstated for a second time in jan 2006 but i recently found out from her that she is having an "affair" with a non jw's man at our job.

tammy wants to go to the elders but she is afraid that they will df'd her for the 3rd time.

i been talking to her telling her not to go to the elders but she keeps telling me that she feels so guilty and that she does not want to get destroyed by jehovah at armaggeddon.

there was a guy who was reinstated and then df'd again w/i 30 days. we found out that he was ratted out and was df'd. well he never missed a beat in that he went to all the mtgs and according to everyone he seemed "humbled" (whatever that means!) from what we understood the JC met with the guy again and he lied saying he was not having sex outside of marriage or smoking. from what i understood it only took them two weeks before they found out he was doing what he claimed he was not doing. so they met with him and they df'd him. that was the quickest i ever saw. this guy was in and out on a regular basis.

so here is a question, what is the top number that a single person has been df'd or da'd?

does anyone still have any friends at bethel?

it seems that there is a massive layoff at bethel in all three american complexes.

the layoff is supposed to affect everyone between the ages of 35-50 or maybe 60. i feel sorry for persons who chose to stay there, they gave up going to college, possible job offers or making a decent amount of money, having children, the list can go on and on.

According to my mother who just returned, she was at all the facilities, they told the group that the "reassigning" was going to be across the board because with all the new technology manual labor was not as necessary as before. How that translates between all the various facilities, I don't know. What is interesting is that they are not letting the new people go (you know the whole last one in first one out thing) but rather the older ones.

My mother's theory was that it was because these people really believed that they were going to be lifers there and thought the new system was going to come, but it looks like it ain't happening any time soon. The WTBTS realized that they might be responsible for these people as they age and the cost for keeping them v. the labor they would get out of them was not in equal value. So they are reassigning them to areas where the "need is great". Keep in mind this usually means that the reason the need is great is because there is no work to be had and these faithful ones are being tossed out before it becomes too costly for the WTBTS.

Yes, LL, I agree, it is hard to figure out what is true when you have people speaking out of every orifice. I suppose that is what puts people on the quest to find what they deem to be "truth". Until they reach that point though, they will continue to buy into what is fed them.

Honesty said - An individual who is afraid of going to hell, which is really an eternal existence without Christ. is not saved and is not really forsaking all in trusting Him (Jesus). You have nothing to fear when you turn to Jesus and accept Him as your Lord and Savior.

I am of the belief that even if a person does not believe in a god or Christ that they also have nothing to fear. My theory is that history has shown human's willingness to suspend reason in favor of religion beliefs, and in turn those religious beliefs can and do cause the worst of human atrocities. Regardless of a person's belief, if they love their fellow humans (or at least try to love them) and live a life free of hatred and harm, I think they should all be deemed as good people and not live in fear of any god, person, governmental agency or religious organization.

Or own their own cleaning business (which translates into having three or four cleaning jobs but calling it a business)

So I just got off the phone with my mom, who had just returned from her yearly mecca to the WTBTS various compounds in NY and NJ. Anyways, she called to tell me about the whole "pink slip" thing. She was mortified. She said that when the 20 year old kid was giving them the tour and telling them how loving it was for the WTBTS to send out special pioneers to areas where the need was great, she said out loud "your too young to understand this kid, but these people thought they were going to be lifers and now they are getting kicked to the curb. it is the same as working for a company for 25 years and then being told - sorry no retirement plan for you because we are too cheap to pay you what you deserve." She stopped talking when there was an audible gasp from the group. She said she thought they were going to lynch her.

So after the tour was over she said to the group she went with that she thought it was evil for the WTBTS to pull a stunt like that and that the higher ups should be ousted first so they could see what it was like. Her friends are use to her, so they did not say anything but merely changed the subject.

She said it was her guess is that there was going to be a lot of bad blood over this, especially for the Baby Boomers that right now are always terrified that they are going to get "pink slips" at any given point in time. This is a very personal thing. She did say that after a couple of days a few of her friends (that are her age ... around early 60's) did say to her privately that they thought it was a bad move that it was big corp. v. little man, considering many of these people came in young with no training and are leaving middle aged and still have no training other then being grunts at Bethel. Interesting to see how this plays out.

LL - I agree to disagree. I don't believe that JWs solely have the market on the whole policing religion thing. LDS do it. 7th Day Adventists do it. I could go on with respect to the various thousands of religions that participate in this type of mind control over their congreation. I don't know percentages as to the number of religions that practice this type of mind control. However, I still stand by my theory that most organized religion does much more harm then good.

And as for family members and/or friends turning their backs on one another ... I am sure that you have seen the same as I have seen families that turn their backs on fellow family members for perceived wrongs whether religious based or not. It is a condition that is present in society today. The ability to HATE for little or no cause but a person's perceived notion of right or wrong.

MIND IN OVERLOAD

for a week now i have been on this sight, the watch tower sight, reading 3 diffrent translations of the bible ( kj, nwt, and new american standard,) would have a 4th translation if i could read greek because i also have a greek new testament.

i have also been in long conversations with the guy that is a jw and find myself overwhelmed.

i am getting addicted to all this and the research.

Another Question why does a JW when answering a question always have to use and anology to get their point across and not just answer the question at hand?

Answer - One - because they think most people are not smart enough to get a straight answer. Or alternatively, a second reason maybe, an anology is not a straight answer, so if they give you something you have to pounder, then most likely they will not have to answer your question at all. Some times the stock answer they are suppose to give, they don't understand and cannot defend it or they may not agree with it. If they give an anology, they can hand it over to you and walk away as you are thinking about their response.

Many fundamentalist religions use fear as a factor. And as a matter of fact, I do know several "good" Catholics - Jesuits that are teriffied of burning in hell. So there is an aspect of fear in many religions. I believe that most organized religions are dangerous if a person allows someone or something else to think for them and make decisions for them.

Dear SF -

Thank you for answering the question regarding contingency. I guess because I still only have bits and pieces of the case and I do not have access to the pleadings (only what is written about in the papers and third hand reports) it is hard for me to get my head around the subject matter and the causes of action.

Frankly, your lawyer sounds like he is blowing smoke. But again, there are a number of things, including what your atty is saying to you, that still make little sense to me. Given I do not know the laws in your country, so I don't know how they legally hold religions up.

I think regardless of the outcome, I would encourge you to seek therapy. I get the impression that this matter is a constant in your life and should it be resolved, good, bad or indifferent, you will not have something to focus on and the reality of everything will fall down upon you with great force.

I hope the best for you and that you find peace and resolution in your search.
