Let's just get something straight about 1975.
by WTFBBQPWNT innobody ever said that the end was coming in 1975.. all the hype about this date that has continued all the way down through today came from a talk in the early 70's by fred franz.
in this talk, franz pointed out the significance of the 7 creative days and how they correspond with 1,000-year time intervals.. he then said, "could the end come in 1975?
there's so much wrong with jehovah's witnesses from their rigid legalism to their faux love, but let's call a spade a spade about the 1975 thing..

Ray Franz CoC, was he in denial? Just asking.
by Wasanelder Once ini was reading a little coc last night where ray f. disusses the witch hunt at bethel that resulted in all the oustings.
as i read the doctrines that he questioned, (not judging him right or wrong), i noticed that he was questioning some of the fundamental beliefs of the wt.
ie: gov.

I think he hung on for too long and should have got out a lot earlier, as it was quite a few years from the beginning of his doubts up to when he left bethel, and was d/f, and even then he fought against d/fellowshipping. It wasn`t just their interpretation of the scriptures he didn`t agree with, their was a lot more he didn`t go along with, his uncle was one of them. I think that he could have got out a lot sooner, and probably helped a lot of people see the society for what it was, even saving some lives by doing so. Saying this, reading his book helped me so much, giving me insight into the workings of the gb etc., so i appreciate that .

by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 { font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: #663399; } .style2 {font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;} .style7 {font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: #353185; } .style8 {color: #353185} --> why did you choose the alias that you did?
being curious about why people do or act the way they.
do led me to this discussion.

dido- was called that when i was young, real name is Dianne, and my avatar is a pic of me, as i am quite proud to show any JW snoops that i don`t give a damn if i am recognised, (am d/f anyway)! I would have chosen another name, but found the site and joined straight away, so i had to use something quickly that i could think of. I am a bit bored with my pic, so will change it. If anyone recognises me, please say hi!

You should not expect justice!!
by Gill inthe watchtower org does not believe that 'justice and equality' should be pursued nowadays.
justice and equality or only to be expected in a never neverland that will never come.. november 1st watchtower on page 14, shows how the borg uses ecclesiastes to teach it's slaves to accept oppression, poverty and injustice.. page 14 it discusses ecclesiastes 1:15 and explains it under:.
lessons for us:.

This is just another way of trying to control people, they want every minute of your life spent on the `kingdom interests`, so blocking out any activities that could take up time. What is so ridiculous is that they are against gardening? So are jw`s supposed to let their gardens over grow?

When are ex-jws/Apostates going to get on with their lives?
by booker-t ini went to a ex-jw's potluck the other day and it will be my last time going.
there were about 20 ex-jw's there just bashing the watchtower society for 2 hours.
i had all i could take and left.

Some ex`s have lost loved ones, or a large chunk of their lives to WS, so they are entitled to bash it forever as far as i`m concerned. If it makes them feel better, then let them do it, if you don`t like it, then you don`t have to go to the meet`s do you?

I agree with doubting bro`, there`s no way they would have been able to keep it to themselves, some would have told their wives, or close family members, esp if it is shocking.

Do you agree with this statement?
by JW_Researcher indo you agree with this statement?
"leaders (called elders) of a given congregation are selected from within and there is routine and frequent turnover.".
from: stark, rodney & iannaccone, laurence.

ferret- i thought they did, as i can remember thinking what a good idea at the time, as it stopped any one elder getting too big for his boots, not sure what the exact reason for it was tho`.

Didn`t the elders have a rotation system at one time? I can remember them changing around, i thought it was to stop anyone of them getting too much power in their position,

SHOCKING!
by Dansk ini just managed to see the last 15 minutes or so of the 'tonight with trevor mcdonald' programme on british tv.
it concerned young children under 12 who had their blood tested and it was found they all had (at least those i saw) high levels of toxic chemicals in their blood.
one family ate organic produce and were generally the "healthy" type and yet their daughter had the highest levels of certain chemicals than others in the study.. a toxicologist said that although the chemicals were high we shouldn't worry too much as they are twice as high in the usa!!!.

Sorry to hear of your illness Ian, i`ve been worried for years about all the chemicals and sprays that they use on our foods, and it is responsible for the increase in cancer. Reading about organic food is also an eyeopener, i didn`t know that it was worse, nor do i suspect does most of the British public. I saw a little of that programme, and was shocked at the results.
