Since when did "biblical grounds" become a prerequesite for disfellowshipping, basically if you are rocking the boat you're thrown overboard plain and simple. The whole disfellowshipping principle orrather the manner in which it is conducted is not biblical

Deep thoughts: Is Jehovah omnipotent?
by Paralipomenon injehovah is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient.
he is the god of gods and all powerful.
this is a fairly accepted teaching and one that no active witness would argue with.

Of course he could blink people out of existance, he's GOD
A nice point Ricky Gervais made in his "Animals" dvd............. "In the beginning God created .....blah blah", "He then said 'let there be light!'....."
Which means................. he made the universe ....IN THE DARK!!! How smart is that!!!
So yeah he could smiteth in a flash, if he wanted to
if he actually existed that is

The end is right around the corner
by buffalosrfree inwith the dubs saying that matt.
24:14 has been fulfilled or as one elder put it, "since 1985" he believes, and matthews fulfillment was spoken of at their last assembly.
then of all things they brought out about the generation of 1914 is so old now that this system can't last but a few more days, weeks, months, or years and then it will all be over with.

Question for Believers: How can God be PERFECT?
by kid-A inseveral weeks ago the issue of god's 'perfect nature' came up on a thread.
the concept of "perfection" is a persistent in vitually all faith traditions and theological constructs.. jws in particular, have an obsession with the concept of perfection and use it regularly in their propaganda: "live forever in a perfect paradise earth"; "live forever in perfect health"; "humans and animals will live together in perfect harmony", etc etc...... the point was raised about the possibility or impossibility of god being perfect.
if we begin with the basic judaeo-christian tenet that god created the universe from nothingness, then he is the designer and creator of every single entity, sentient or non-sentient, and object within reality.

come on guys this is the same God who
a) Placed irrefutable proof for the Big bang in the very fabric of the universe
b) Placed irrefutable proof for evolution into the genetic structures of life
c) Made numerous outstanding miracles happen in the days when people were......uninformed in the matters of science but not ONE in modern times when the miracle could be assessed, measured, recorded, studied
d) Put a tree in the G of E which produced fruit and told A&E not to eat it, come on....................
I think the evidence points to the distinct possibilty that God is a prank playing pain in the ass, with too much time and power on his/her/it's spiritual hands

JW Terminology
by KW13 inok guys, list the ones ya know.. the truth/truth = the truth according to jw's is their religion.
for example someone baptized as a jw is baptized in the truth, whereas someone baptized elsewhere is not.. new light/light = a better understanding of the current status quo or 'light' in general which is just knowledge, new light allows for a complete change in beliefs without exception.. god's word = mainly the bible but anything else published by the wbt tract society is also acceptable.. true christians = refers only to jehovah's witnesses or suitable examples from the bible.. apostates = anyone who has been a jehovah's witness who opposes their beliefs (not necessarily people or individuals) and shares how they feel about the watchtower bible and tract society with anyone.
a person who hasn't been a jehovah's witness but does clearly oppose their message and beliefs may also be referred to as an apostate.. experiences = stories that will upbuild and encourage jw's.

Convention Feedback
by slimboyfat inhas anyone been involved in convention feedback for the society?
apparently the society does actually seek a response from 'focus group' (if you will) after each convention to see how various aspects were received.
from what i heard many of the comments can be quite frank: i.e.

What message would you like to say to anyone studying with the JW's?
by JH ini'd say, beware, once you'll be baptized they won't treat you the same way.
they will expect a lot from you, and you'll never be free again to say what you think about the religon or even think for yourself.
they will control your life completely.

Look for internet bashing at district assemblies.
by spectromize ini have no doubt in my mind that the society will bash the internet with a part at the district assemblies.
the reason i say this is because if you look at the worldwide reports there has been a decline in publishers in the more industrialized countries who have access to the internet.. some of the brothers and sisters are finding out the contradictions that we hold in regards to some of our teachings and the constant change of views on issues of voting, blood, donations, new light ect.... for example do any of you know that in bulgaria you will not be disfellowshipped if you take a blood transfusion.
yes that's right, you will not be disfellowshipped because the society signed a document with the european commission promising not to take sanctions against any of it's members if they choose to take blood, in exchange for legal status in that country.

The internet was loosely covered at the convention. A "demonstration" was shown with a guy looking for jehovah's witness relief on a search engine and coming across an anti jw site, he immediately shut it down and reprimanded himself for nearly exposing himself to apostate teaching lol.
I don't think the society wants to dwell on the issue of the internet too much, last thing they want to do is draw attention to the fact that sites which tell the truth
