What you want to say now to your family, may be vastly different later. I would not make any drastic move like DA'ing or anything. If you find it hard to be around them, just limit the time. I think most of us would agree, regardless of our spiritual background, for the most part (there are of course exceptions) we spend little time with our family. So it is not like you have to hear witness crap all the time anyways.

What to do when your family DOESN'T shun you...
by logansrun inall right, i'm not dfd or dad; i just "walked away.
" all my friends, save one, completely ignore me and basically shun me (the word on the street is i'm an apostate :) ).
but my family, all hard-core jws except my more liberal mother, is causing some unsettling feelings.

Okay...what does a "walk away" do abo...
by logansrun inrelated to my thread about talking to jw family members who refuse to shun you lol..... i'm a "walk away", no judicial action taken against me.
as it stands, i would like to keep it that way to be able to have a cordial relationship with some family (and perhaps a couple friends).
so here's a problem: at my former kh there sits in a drawer a document that could really screw me if i am in a life threatening situation.

As mentioned above, make sure that all your new doctors have current information on you. If you are above legal age, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Seating arrangements
by freedom96 inat my hall, everyone seemed to sit in the same area, every single meeting.
for many, it was the exact same seat.
from time to time of course they would encourage everyone to sit in the front rows, and then things would change for a couple of weeks, then everyone would be back where they started.

My elder dad had his spot, and of course we sat with him. So every meeting usually was the same scene from my seat. Over here would be so-n-so, over here, someone else. Every time.

There are so many that I would remember the second I heard the melody. As for now, one is From House to House, another is Jehovah is My Refuge, and that is about it.

crelution or evelation
by showme increation or evolution?
first as a boy i believed in creation because i heard a preacher say it was true.
then i thought "well, maybe my teacher is right because of fossils and the recorded facts".

I definately believe in creation. That doesn't mean however that God did not use various forms of evalution in that process.

let's hear how you do it.

I have not set a foot inside a KH in over 6 years. If I were ever to sit in on a meeting now, it would bring back so many weird feelings. I am glad that I will never have to do that again.

One of many problems with witnesses is that they believe that the answer to all problems is being a better strong little witness.

Logansrun.....has arrived
by logansrun ini just thought i would post a little about myself here, even though some of you might know me from the "beyond jehovah's witnesses" forum.
my name is bradley and i live in a suburb of chicago illinois.
i'm currently twenty six years old and left the jws about nine months ago after a year and a half of intense doubts, many hundreds of hours of research, cognitive dissonance and bouts of vomitting (stressful, eh?).

Welcome to the board. Too bad your brother in law had to be such a twit. Surely not showing the Christian spirit is he? Look forward to more postings from you.

Possible solution for the tax cuts
by freedom96 infor those who feel that the new tax cuts that bush proposed are are only going to help the rich:.
consider this to start: you would be suggesting that a family that has a teacher and a cop in the same family are rich.. second, if it is so horrible that the "rich" get more tax cuts than anyone else, here is an idea:.
ready?

I would agree that a flat tax across the board would be perfect. 10% works for me.
