How much money would you have to win, to quit your job?
by JH insome people love their jobs so much, that even if they won a couple of million $ playing lotto, they would still keep their jobs !!!
sounds stupid, right?
but i guess some have wonderful jobs, and money isn't everything.. how about you, what's the minimum you'd need to win to say, good bye boss ?

It would take a lot of money to leave what I do. I have several projects connected to my position. These investments will pay very nicely one day, so to be short sighted and leave now would cost way too much.

A friend of mine is writing a book about her, and says that she was a JW. I personally don't know, but I thought that was very interesting. I will have to check that out.

"The friends" came over today.............
by gringojj ini am so sick of witnesses reserving catchphrases for themselves.. talking to my wifes mother today she kept referring to "the friends".
"the friends came over today, we went to lunch with the friends".
well if they are "the friends", then what the hell are everyone else?

It drives me nuts hearing all the catch phrases out there with the witnesses. Sometimes though, it is amusing. If they could just hear themselves.....

Windowless Kingdom Halls
by drahcir yarrum insome time back, i had a disagreement with my brother-in-law, who even though he has doubts about the witnesses, still wants to put on the cloak of being a believer for his mother's sake.
while he acknowledges the doctrinal errors and abysmal treatment of the flock by their elders, he doesn't want to assign a malicious, controlling motivation to it.
i told him that i believed the idea of not having windows in kingdom halls was part of the brain washing that occurs during meeting after meeting during the weeks, months and years.

I was told there were two, and only two reasons.
One, to make it difficult for thieves to get in.
Second, and more important, when the end was coming, and the government turned on the witnesses, they could hide in there, and no one would see them.

My so-called life
by riko inhello everyone..i just wanted to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about my experiences.. i'm 23, have been raised in the truth all my life.
when i was 18, i made a foolish decision to get married, something i knew deep down i wasn't ready for, still being very much in the 'bloom of youth'.
i reluctantly saw my future as being one of jehovahs witnesses and with all my adolescent drives, i moved away from home to marry a man with about the same maturity as me.

Welcome to the site.
Over time, I hope you find the peace and happiness that is really out there, and put the witness past behind you. There is a great life out there waiting for you!

Have I been red flagged?
by searching4? ini find it very weird that in 13 years, not one jw has come knocking on my door.
i don't live in my home town and have had no contact with witnesses ( besides my mom) since i was disfellowshipped in 1992. is it possible that my mom ( still a witness) has alerted the local kingdom hall and had me placed on the " do not call" list?
or maybe i just live in the area of slacker witnesses?

It is amazing that as thorough my hall was in field service, I think many halls simply have bad book keeping, perhaps by the ones going door to door themselves.
In my entire adult life, I have answered the door maybe only 3 or 4 times, if that, to witnesses. I think many times they have come by, but we are away from the home. Funny though, I don't see magazines, or brochures left to let us know they were there.

Ten Commandments is a great classic, and more recently, The Passion of the Christ was fantastic.

JWS and Body Piercings!
by kristyann inthis may sound strange, but do jws have any specific teachings on body piercings?
i know that mormons do... they only allow females to have one piercing in each ear and then they must wear "tasteful, modest earrings"... in other words, i don't think they're wearing big hoops or dangling chandalier earrings... but what do jws think about piercings?
my boyfriend's sister got her eyebrow pierced... and her "jw" parents encouraged it.

I am suprised that the articles didn't go further and just ban the piercing and tattoo! In the congregations I attended, anything other than earings for the girls would not have been tolerated.
