isn't it refreshing that now we are free to have friends that do not judge us regarding what we believe, what we do, etc.

what would you do if you woke up one morning and realized that everything you've been taught, everything you've known, everything you've thought was truth was not?
as a matter of fact, everything was a lie.
and this lie was taught to you by the people you love most in the world, your parents.
It is tough. For us that grew up "in the truth", it was something else to learn all of this. I was exposed a little at a time, but still shocking, nontheless. Hard for friends to understand who have not experience this.
But as time went on, thank God I found out what I did. What a breath of fresh air. Now, we can all live freely. It does suck the baggage that some of us are stuck with, with ties to family, friends etc.
i have mentioned before how disappointed i was that in the years that i have been in business, the witnesses have done their business territory around me, but don't call on my place of business.
now, they have no idea who i am, so they have no reason not to come.. well, yesterday they came.
what sucks is that i was not there!
Maybe it wouldn't be too fun........ some are so pathetic that it would be more trouble than it is worth. Who knows, we'll see what happens.

i've got no idea if it has a new title or not, or if anyone gives a sh*t, but i just want to say what a wonderful 2000 it's been.
well, i don't know if it's been wonderful for you judging by the nature of posts such as this, but it certainly has been a most 'upbuilding' experience for me at least.

Very interesting. What happens after we die will be very interesting. Not in a hurry to find out personally, but I hope that it is everything we hope it will be.

Well, yesterday they came. What sucks is that I was not there! My employee talked to them. Got a couple of mags, though they were back issues. Appartently they said that they will come back. We'll see.

something just struck me as being kind of funny, and never being a jw i'm not sure if it's amusing or sad.
in the various christian churches i've attended no ones 'departure' is ever announced unless there's a farewell or party, always 'positive' - wishing the departees 'good luck'.
am i getting this right...everytime someone is df'd or da'd an announcement is made, usually on thursday nights (or whenever).
What was weird is that if you heard the announcement, it was as if the person had died. Same response.
after watching newbies come on board and say hi, i realized that i had never done that myself.

My background consists of growing up as a witness, with my immediate family very involved. Amazingly, no one is now. I met some people when I was in my early 20's that were more God like in their actions than many witnesses I knew. I then began to realize that there was no way that God would destroy these people just because they were not witnesses. As time would go on, I would realize that this indeed was not God's organization.
I have not been active for about 10 years, and have remarried a gal who is wonderful. She too grew up as a witness, and has left. Neither of us are df'd, nor da'd. I still have a minor child that is involved, and so it is a tough situation. I just live my life, don't say anything, and enjoy his company when he is here. He doesn't know anything different. Yet.

i am going on oct 16-18. we are staying at the hotel luxor--the one with the sqhinx in the frount.
so, tell me in the short time we are there (this my boyfriend's first time in vegas too) what can we absolutly not miss??????????

I would suggest driving a car, and leaving it at every hotel with the valet service. You get right up to the front door, valet is only a couple of bucks, and you can go right in and enjoy the hotel.
So many of the hotels are way back of the street, and so large themselves, you will save tons of time doing this. Other suggestion is to pick a handful of hotels, and enjoy them for everything they have to offer. Otherwise you will spend so much time going from one to another, trying to see everything. Leave some for your next trip.
