Did anyone really ever study?
by freedom96 ini know we were taught to study all the wts stuff.
prepare for each meeting, prepare for service, (gotta know the articles) etc.
i mean with all the personal study to do, how could anyone have time for newspapers, novels etc.

I remember the dirty looks I got if I came with study article if it were not underlined showing that I had studied.
Much worse if you had to borrow a Watchtower if you didn't have one.

Pay Attention:Appealing an appeal?
by Blueblades inunit 5c,page127.when the disfellowshipping is upheld by the appeal committee, there is no further right to appeal.however,if an individual persists in believing a serious error in judgment has occurred, the appeal committee should inform him that he may submit his allegations in writing to the appeal committee within seven days for transmittal to the branch office.the appeal committee will include this statement along with the information being sent to the branch office.
?question:how many are aware that you can appeal an appeal?and dosen't it say ,"there is no further right to appeal.
"then dosen't it say ,'if you are persistent, however, you can appeal an appeal ".notice the second appeal is called an allegation.an assertion made without proof.and then the second appeal which is called an allegation is now called a statement that is being sent to the branch office.hence, the individual has to present evidence that six men have seriously erred in judgment before how many men in position at the branch office without them ever seeing this individual before them personally.and has not the decision already been bound in heaven?

Also, how much of this new growth is either witness kids getting baptized, or the ones who faded away and came back for awhile. How much of this is actually real growth, from going door to door and all that jazz. I think non. I would think that part is very very very little growth, if any at all, and could hardly be counted.
Imagine this one their report: Growth from the world wide preaching work .00000000001 %

I know we were taught to study all the WTS stuff. Prepare for each meeting, prepare for service, (gotta know the articles) etc. I mean with all the personal study to do, how could anyone have time for newspapers, novels etc. If we were doing our "all" for Jehovah, we had to do study constantly.
I never did. Not on my own. I think I recall there being a small group "get-together" that I was invited to once or twice where it was attempted, but really......... going to the meetings was bad enough.
So did anyone here actually really study like we were supposed to?

there would the 20 or so paragraphs that had to read and answered, and i would watch the clock.

I absolutely detested the watchtower study. Never did an hour go by so slow. There would the 20 or so paragraphs that had to read and answered, and I would watch the clock. As it neared an hour, sometimes I would get excited knowing that it was almost over, but sometimes they were still on paragraph 15. Did they stop on time? No! Of course they had to finish, even if that meant going overtime by 5, 10 or 15 minutes. That was truly hell.
Going out in service was horrible too. Especially as a kid, and if you were working the neighborhood you lived in, or went to school. The idea of running into friends terrified me.
And then, being a kid, dressed in a suit, having to hang with your parents after the meeting or service, going off to run errands or something, and having to wear that suit the whole time, having people make weird looks. You just don't normally see kids in suits and dresses out shopping.

Never was happy as a witness. Not that my life sucked, but just the religion part. Most of this happened as I was growing up, only a few years into adulthood.
I enjoyed talking with my friends. Mind you, conversations never consisted of "Did you enjoy that point at the meeting?"
I liked it when my parents would pull up, and what little windows there were, were covered with aluminum foil, because we were going to have a slide show during the public talk.
The written review was better than listening to the same ol crap spilled from unqualified public speakers.
The last five minutes of service, and the last five minutes of the meetings.

The Status Of A "Jehovah's Witness"
by minimus ina person desires to become baptized.
it could be because they believe they've found the truth, peer pressure, an expectation of "doing the right thing", etc.
whatever the motive, they become baptized jehovah's witnesses.

I faded away, only have a few contacts who are witnesses, and to them I am just inactive. You know how it is, you cannot discuss any doubts, etc.
So, I have not been df'd, or da'd, nor do I consider myself one of Jehovah's Witnesses. As Jim said, I could be known as a "Used to be"
