I don't believe in the paradise on earth, but I do believe in eternal life after we die. I will leave it in God's hands on what happens then.

The Reasons Why You Were A Jehovah's Witness
by minimus inmany here have been raised as witnesses.
others were introduced to the "truth" through various forms of witnessing.
what was the common denominator for remaining a witness for the time that we have?

I never enjoyed being a witness. I grew up as one, and went for awhile after I got married, but then faded away. I divorced, and have not been back.
I didn't believe some of the things they taught, didn't like the way some were treated, and was thoroughly embarressed to be identified as one.

I remember a family in the hall that had two kids back at bethel, and they got a sneak copy. They had a get-together at their home, and it was passed around. People were so careful with it, as if it would break.
Apparently, this was going to cause more people to get baptized, now that we were more with the times and bringing full color magazines.
Afterwards, it was hung on the wall behind framed glass.

Reestablishing family ties with non-Witnesses
by cyberguy inas most of you folks know, non-witness family members are treated almost the same way as jw's treat disfellowshipped people.
after leaving the borg, fully or partially, has anyone had good results in reestablishing relationships with non-witnesses family relatives?
i've got over a dozen cousins that i'd like to have a relationship with once again, but i'm not sure the best way to break-the-ice.

My relatives were glad that my parents got out of their "Witness phaze" and welcomed us back. 30 years was a long phaze!

You so deserve to be with someone who wants you as much as you want them, and to have respect and love for each other.
I know it is painfull now, and it is hard to imagine what is out there for you. Sounds to me like life will be much more consistant for you with her gone. Sounds like time to move on.
Down the road, you will be able to look back knowing you made the right decision.
I was in a horrible relationship, and it took a long time for me to end it. But I did, and took a break from the dating scene, and finally ended up with a wonderful wife. I cannot even begin to describe the difference, and how it makes me feel now.
I never knew it could be so good.

'Religion' after the Witnesses?
by happysunshine in'religion' after the witnesses?
is it possible?
any comments?

I find that religion after the witnesses is possible. For personally, it is a greater appreciation for the relationship I have directly with Jesus, as apposed to going to some formal place.
I would rather listen to what the bible has to say, rather than some religion telling me what to do.

Reach for God
by donkey inwhy do humans search and/or reach for god?.
if they are honest with themselves it is because have a fear or death or of non-existence.
or they draw "power" from god.

Either there is, or isn't a God. Pretty simple isn't it, really?
The way that I figure it, in simple terms is this. If there is no God, and yet you believe, no harm, no foul.
If there is a God, then you are on His side, and you have the blessings that he will give.
What possible harm is there in believing in Him?
My personal belief goes much further than my example, but that is between God and myself.

Donkey's never-ending atheism thread
by donkey inwih the permission of simon, i would like to start a thread to act as a collection of thought, quotes and miscellany on atheism and agnosticism.
there are so many other threads on this subject but no one place which one can go to on here.
i have much to share - enjoy and contribute with me please.give me the storm and stress of thought and action rather than the dead calm of ignorance and faith.

What I meant is that if indeed we do go to heaven, (which I do) what would we say for ourselves if we didn't believe? Ooops? Just seems to me that we would have some explaining to do.
Either way, that is not for me to decide for others. That being said too, I don't neccessarily believe in a torture, or eternal torment if one does not believe.
Do I think that God can handle it if someone doesn't believe in him? Of course. He has allowed us freewill.
We can believe, or not. I think that if we do believe, God has in store for us greater things than what we have on earth.
