Time will heal the wounds. Don't beat yourself up mentally; getting involved can happen to the best of us.
At least it sounds like you have your family with you. Make new (real) friends, and you will be happy!
over the last year after leaving the organization, i have done much research and read many books on the topic of jw's.
i have found peace in the fact that i truely believe that it is a false religion and that i want nothing to do with it ever again.
my problem is that i have been through, like most of you alot of emotions such as fear, anger, stupidity, (that i could allow myself to get involved so deeply in something), and many other feelings too.

right now i am so mad!
i am in total road rage mode.
the reason is my job.
Gil-
I feel for you and your situation. However, I do believe in the power of positive thinking. You must speak into existance what you actually want. Most of the comments you made were negative. If you want a new job, speak it into existance. You want to do better at your current job? Then tell yourself that.
I would recommend several books, one for starters is "How to Win Friends and Influence People"
It is a best seller, and it may help you look at things from a new perspective.
If I recall correctly, you are in Vegas right? If so, I have talked to several people there, and they say that there is tons of employment, and that the employers just want someone to come to work sober, and to work. Plus, if you work for a casino, most have a program where you can eat for free. A friend of mine did this, and there is a great buffett downstairs for the employees. You can eat there at anytime, even when you are not on the clock. There is another way to save money, and not go hungry.
Good luck, and think positive!
One more thing I truly believe is this: Out of every adversity comes a seed of equal or greater benefit.
hey everyone .
i'm doing a term paper on the flag salute case, mainly the court cases minersville v gobitis and west virginia v. barnette.
i'm looking for anyone who had a problem with saluting the flag when they were in school.
I believe that the WTS way overreacts to the flag issue. I now do proudly salute the flag, and I am happy to be an American. There are many other good countries out there, and I respect others when they are patriotic in their own country.
I do believe people should have the choice, but allow each their own.
I do think that is disrespectful though, to flaunt their stance on the issue, in front of those who put their lives in danger, to protect our rights. For those who went to war, who served in the armed services,to those who lost children or parents.
a few years ago, i watched a tv program saying that nuclear bombs were missing from the former soviet union's arsenal.
they call them suitcase bombs, since they can fit in a suitcase or backpack.
today, i read an article that stated the same thing, but they are quit sure now that bin laden has a few of these in his possession.
This is scary. Large nations having access to these weapons is one thing, as I believe that most of the nations leaders would be very responsible with them. But to have someone like Bin Laden having access, now that is totally another matter.
One thing I think many people need to realize is this: No matter what the US or other "Western" country does, they will face the wrath of a nut who wants to dominate.
Some people will suggest that if we didn't bother people like Saddam or Bin Laden, that they would not bother us. Not true. Bin Laden believes that we must be destroyed, in his own little version of his religion. So it does not matter what we do, whether we attack him or not. He will stop at nothing to destroy us and what we stand for.
Look at what happened on 9-11. That is nothing compared to what could happen with a nuclear device in a populated area. All you need is a few people to put something like that together. Last year we had untold people working together to hit the towers, and 19 to volunteer to do it. One suitcase, one suicide bomber, would create a huge mess.
That act alone could possibly cause more destruction worldwide than we have ever seen. It might be done to us, then the US returns fire. Oh, Bin Laden is somewhere over there, we will just level the whole place. Scary to think what could happen.
That is one of many reasons that I think these people who want world domination at any cost, must be destroyed now, before we give up millions of lives. Imagine a nuke in New York, LA, or any other major city. You want to see lives ruined by loss of loved ones, and then to imagine the economy afterwards. These nuts need to be stopped.
i was having my usual bible study on thursday, with an elder from our local kingdom hall.. we are about half way through the knowledge book.. when i brought up the u.n. scandal and the silent lambs thing he just walked right out my door.. i am left wondering if he will come next week or if i am disfellowshipped even before i am baptized?

The elder just walking out the door without a word must have been a sight! Would have loved to seen that. I would guess that the elder will not be back. Ever. Even if he had thought that there was a chance to "fix" the study, going back after that episode would seem unlikely.
It makes me wonder, how many of the R&F actually know about the molesting going on, the UN scandal, etc? Maybe it is being talked about more and more.
jesus once mentioned that some people would be condemned by their own words.
i think you can also be condemned by your 'lack' of words.. the watchtower in times past would not miss a beat to condemn the catholic church for any unchristian infraction and highlight that in watchtower publications!
to my knowledge nothing at all has been said or printed what-so-ever about the catholic church's priest/pedophile problem to date!
I agree that it is not the right time for the WTS to overly criticize other religions for problems that the WTS is dealing with right now. Perhaps the R&F would actually catch on to the double talk.

Put the cards on the mantel so we can look at them.
if you've ever been a witness, is it possible to experience the true "christmas spirit"?edited by - minimus on 15 december 2002 8:29:2.
I have allowed myself recently to enjoy this time of the year more. There really is no reason not to step back for a few weeks, and slow down a bit, and enjoy friends and family.

lately, my mother keeps talking about how so many are appreciative of the "faithful & discreet slave class".
we got into a discussion that prompted me to tell her that there is no such thing as the faithful slave class and that it was all an invention of rutherford because the first "faithful slave" was dead.
so now everthing is a slave.
For those that are elderly, and spent most of their lives as a witness, it has to be hard to even think that what they have practiced for so many years is wrong. For some, they just cannot go there, though the possiblity that it is all wrong is certainly in the back of their minds.
james hewitt has outraged public opinion by offering to sell princess diana's reputedly very sexy love letters that she once penned to him so ardently.
he wants a cool ten million pounds, that's about $16m.. oddly, in a sky news poll, the question "would you sell her love letters for 10 million pounds?
" has revealed that 48% of brits would do so if they had the opportunity.. the situation is further complicated by prince harry's extraordinary resemblence to hewitt, although hewitt denies that he is the lads real father.. my q is this: would you sell the letters for 10 million pounds if they were yours to sell?.
$16 Million (American) is a lot of money. I don't know if this guy has a lot of money already, and this could be a huge source for him; enough to set him up for life if he were smart about it.
Diana was/ is such a huge subject still in the UK, so I imagine that in fact these letters are quite in demand by the public. It is no secret that her marriage was full of cheating by both sides, so really these letters might only give some insight on the details.
