"I think you are wrong Zico."
And that is your right tula, but my own experience with different denominational Christians suggests to me your view isn't always the case.
A Christian who thinks his religious beliefs make him better than anyone else, has missed the point, in my opinion. I wouldn't claim to be better than those ones, though. ;)

"The way I see it, anyone can baptize, even a pagan or an atheist."
Fine Burn, I meant minimum requirement in the JW religion.
"As you can see from this example, each religion seems to think they have some point of "superiority" that renders all other religions invalid."
Just because the pentacostals might, it doesn't mean all other religions do tula. -

"I don't think the JW elders that are actually in the water doing the physical baptism say anything in particular.
Do they? Can someone still or recently 'in' confirm???"
No Aude, they don't say anything, you're right.
It doesn't have to be elders who do the baptism. I'm not sure if there's a minimum requirement to baptise other than the dunker has to be baptised himself and be male? -

The Witnesses want it both ways.
by isnrblog inthe bible says in matthew 7:13:
"go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; 14 whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.
but the watchtower 2/15/06, page 12 says:

You mean a bit like how God speeds the work up in his time?
But the love of the Greater number is cooling off? -

I think 'in the name of' means 'in the authority of'
AA, I understand your point. The main problem I have with the Jehovah's Witnesses viewpoint on Jesus is not that they believe he's Michael the Archangel, it's that they tell their members that it's a sin to worship Jesus and pray to him. I think this is where the major difference between Jehovah's Witnesses and Christianity lies. -

So just what or who DO you have faith in now?
by oompa ini never used to wonder about death, or what comes after, because i had all the answers!
but now i really wonder, but not with fear....it feels odd, and i am curious.
this planet and universe are so incredible and complex that to me it defies logic that someone must have had a creative hand it.

"I still believe in a God that I can have a personal relationship with. What has changed is my understanding of Him."
Same as Burn. -

in defense of the Holy Trinity
by potentialJWconvertswife ini need some help on the holy trinity.
my husband is studying with the witnesses (he's not one of them yet), and is totally buying into the idea that god, jesus and the holy spirit are all separate, not (as i've tried to explain) separate, but also one in the trinity.
i have pointed out the scriptures in john that reference god as the word, and then jesus as the word later.

A focus on the deity of the Christ might be more beneficial than a focus on the Trinity, so you don't bring the Holy Spirit into it, but instead critique Jesus being the same as Michael the Archangel, and show how the Apostles and early Christians saw Jesus as God, and as more than an angel (John 20:28, and Hebrews 1 might help) You could also show examples of Christians in the bible, such as Stephen (Acts 7) and examples in Revelation, where the disciples prayed to Jesus. This is important because Jehovah's Witnesses are not allowed to talk to Jesus and have a relationship with him.
It might be easier to discuss other subjects though. There really are lots of angles, and I'm sure you'll find a lot of good advice here. Another one I can think of:
Luke 21:8 -
"He said: “Look out that YOU are not misled; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The due time has approached.’ Do not go after them."
The Jehovah's Witnesses claim that 'The due time has approached' (Armageddon) Thus, to follow Jesus' words here, means not to follow groups like the Jehovah's Witnesses!
It really is that simple.
Just find an angle that works for you. Good luck! -

We had an old man in our Congregation who has now passed away, he was going a bit senile, and used to make every other answer about the evils of condoms, he was quite entertaining actually.
There's also a sister who often talks about her struggles during WW2, and has said whenever she hears a plane she has a panic attack because it brings back terrible memories of German bomber planes flying over Coventry during the war. What makes this weird, is that... she was born after the war! -

what is the official JW view on bible students?
by hamilcarr inwhile visiting some bible students sites, i wondered what the official jw view on these organizations is.
are they part of babylon the great simply because of refuting the post-1916 developments and the governing body?
as far as i know, they do not adhere to any of the false teachings jw like to refer to in debunking the rcc and traditional protestantism, such as hellfire, trinity, immortal soul.

Tell a JW the bible students are still around following Russell's teachings. It always shocks them.
I wonder why the WTS denies their existence? -

there were a small group of ex's that had been invited by a local church to speak of their experiences as jehovah's witnesses..............god it felt sooo good to tell about the unbiblical practices of shunning and disfellowshipping, of the cult mentality and the wounds so many ex's carry from the legalistic mentality and behavior.
the two books crisis of conscience and in search of christian freedom were shared with all present..........about 30 to 40 people.

That's great sunnygal. Hopefully your audience will have some questions to ask the JWs who come knocking on their doors. :)
