You said it. To JWs trinitarians are not Christians, and to trinitarians JWs are not Christians. More of the same sectarianism.

Why call themselves "Christian"?
by poppers innever having been a jw i don't quite understand why they call themselves "christians".
if jesus is not god and is not to be worshipped as such, but is something "lesser", then it doesn't make sense to think of themselves as christians.
to claim to be christian, then, seems to me to make themselves hypocrites from the very beginning.

Why the Watchtower Society Interprets Genesis Non-Literally
by AlanF ina literal interpretation of this passage shows that the author of the passage viewed the earth as the center of the universe, with the sun and moon going around it.
just why does the watchtower society view passages such as in joshua 10:12-14 as not literal?
the creation account in genesis and exodus.

The first chapter of Genesis can't of course be taken for what it claims to be: a factual, historical account of the creation in six days of 24 hours. On the other hand, reading it the non-litteral way is a twisting of scriptures. I'm forced to conclude that the unknown writer of that passage simply wrote what he thought was a reasonable account of the creation.
That man is often ridiculed for having written that light preceded its source, the sun. Yet I don't think he was so stupid to fail to see that light emanates from the sun. This makes his account even more intriguing.
He also had some good, valid, points. For instance, mankind is only one family, and life is more than organized dust. I personaly add the fact that we have been created by a caring God.
Why not simply take the human factor into consideration when reading the Bible? For example, I've always been amazed to see how so many Christians take every verse in Paul's letters to first century Christians as a sacred pronouncement of God, while Paul himself insisted so much that he wasn't God and could err.
I personaly believe that the Bible is an authentic account of God's dealings with mankind, but as men wrote it, it naturaly contains human errors. Why are many Christians so much uncomfortable with that fact?

Were YOU Depressed When You Were A Witness?
by minimus ini've seen soooo many witnesses taking meds or alcohol because of unhappiness and depression.
i know of one woman who regularly gos to her shrink and is the most depressed person that i know of.
personally, i believe it's because a jw can never do enough to satisfy god or the elders....what do you think?

Not having the freedom to be myself is what depressed me at times. I experienced a great feeling of liberation when finally coming to the conclusion that that machine couldn't possibly be God's organization.
There were various other reasons for depression: failed missionaries, single sisters, etc. And there were tragic cases, like that mother who committed suicide after the death of her son who had refused blood.

BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS Twisting a life-affirming law into death
by Terry inturning a life affirming rule into a death-dealing policy is an amazing accomplishment.
we can thank the watchtower society for a mindset which makes this possible.. i've gone into great detail before about the watchtower blood policy itself.
it is a blatant and deliberate publicity stunt which takes the rather simple prohibitions of the laws of noah for gentiles on murder .

What a post Leolaia!
Thank you so much for your research. It's a wealth of good sense. Have you published it any place? I think it would have helped me a lot if I had read such a study at the time I was considering to become a witness.

Plain good sense should dictate that life is more precious/sacred than blood. The reality is above its symbol of course.
I marvel that I took me years as a witness before I realized that simple truth. It shows to what extend I had surrendered my thinking abilities to the WTS. And so have millions of others!
Yes, Terry, what sort of respect for life is shown by the WTS in this issue? Their point is that life is of no importance when it comes to obeying God. But God's commandment is precisely that we should respect life... So much confusing!
I like the way you summarize the command on blood. I suggest: "Don't be bloodthirsty."

Do you see your self remarrying?

given your past life experiences and your current enlightenment would you ever get into that level of commitment again?.

Van Gogh and Calliopé, you're really too cute.
Joe, I fully agree with Dansk. Are you so sure the Chinese family would not agree? I'm often in China. Ten years ago, westerners were still the attraction on the street, but things and mentalities have changed considerably. Marrying a dabizi (long nose) has become quite accepted. China is more and more part of the global village.

My answer is yes!
I had a pioneer mariage, my ex didn't want to have kids, etc. We had a great life together, until I left the org in disgust, and our marriage crashed down.
I had just one idea in mind: flee from that insane org, and have a real family at last. I'm craving for exchanging unconditional love, and become a dad.
But I also need open-mindedness and tolerance. I'm wondering if I could find such a rare pearl.

Thanks alienagent, you're welcome.
I'm sure you saw the last episode of that series. Numbers 1 though 12 will eventually turn out to be monkey-like aliens, and will escape from Brooklyn to the deep space. Their attempt to seize control of the earth has failed.
They could not get an accptable reply to this most intriging question: WHY DID YOU RESIGN????

Hi Keeli!
The first time I befriended a disfellowshipped one was such a great liberating experience! Welcome among us, you sinner, impure leper! Hope you'll find refreshment for your soul.
