Yes, if he's a PSYCHO DAD!
According to Christian doctrine, we get punished for being born "sinful," even though we cannot help how we are born. It's doctrines like this one that often make me wonder if the advent of monotheism thousands of years ago was just about the worst thing that could have happened to the human race.

Would a Father really destroy His children for disobeying and arrogance?
by Judas I. ineven go so far as to torment them forever?
how could that ever be justified?.
would that be also admitting failure as a father by resorting to that?.

J.W. relatives- ignorant or arrogant
by Cabin in the woods inmy husband has a sister (lori) pioneer and her hubby (mike) elder who have never had any respect for my husband or myself.
even when we were going to meetings they overstepped their parameters constantly.
demanding personal information and not honoring a simple request to not 'drop in' whenever they get a whim.

Give them a final warning. Make sure they know it's the final warning. If they trespass again, call the cops.

And what the heck is "poutine"?
A fasttrack to the hardest arteries imaginable, but you gotta love it! Poutine!
I'm really glad poutine is not available where I live. I would love it too much and would have to double up on my Zocor. -

What Ways Can You Have "Fun" At The District Convention???
by minimus injust a few years ago, i knew of a somewhat prominent elder that was giving talks at the dc and during the times of the convention that he wasn't doing something "official", he was drinking nips of booze that he would keep hidden in his pockets.
as time went on, he would walk around the convention site to other parts of the city where he would drink alcohol and watch topless girls do their thing.
then he would return late during the sessions and look like he was just coming back from doing some official spiritual business.

When I was a kid at a convention, I'd distract myself by ripping pages out of the Watchtower and fold them into origami animals.
The most fun I have at conventions nowadays is not attending. -

I do have to say that the "floating sensation" I experienced was not totally unpleasant. The only thing I can compare it to is seeing the ocean for the first time as a child. That sense of unbounded space and freedom was a scary, but incredibly liberating as well. Nowadays, when I get days of feeling jaded and discouraged (a consequence of aging, I think), I miss those first months of wonder and endless horizons.

Satanists, do you fear them or trash them?
by greendawn inare you afraid of the power of occultists and satanists?
do you think their magical arts can truly harm people?
or are you confident that their power can easily be neutralised by reciting biblical verses or by wearing a crucifix?

Does anyone actually know any Satanists or have reliable information about what they do? Everything I've ever heard about them is from a friend-who-told-a-friend-who-told-a-friend, etc.

What leaving really means
by under_believer inrecently my family had occasion to attend a function held in our honor, an event commemorating a certain achievement.
it was thrown by close relatives, witnesses all.
it included parents, grandparents, cousins, siblings, auties and uncles.

Underbeliever said, "No more family. No more support network. No more gifts given or received. No more handshakes, sumptuous meals, lingering goodbyes. No more video games, card games, talks over beers. No more reminiscing over the past. No more heartfelt greeting cards, no more talk of raising children. No more hugs, no more kisses.
No more love."
Do you really believe that only the JWs are capable of these feelings? I've had far more good experiences like those you describe AFTER I left the JWs. JWs are human--they are capable of warmth and friendship. But everyone else is human too, just as capable, if not more so, of love and support. And most will not turn their backs on you if you don't hold the exact same beliefs they do.
Having said that, I still sympathize with your predicament and your reluctance to put your family through the unpleasant upheaval of leaving the JWs. Best of luck.
