Is a "Pure" religion an oxymoron?
by free2beme init seems that everyone i know who claims to be in the right religion, has the idea that their religion is some how more pure or perfect then all others.
whether is a christian faith as a whole, or an individual sect of christianity.
yet, no one seems to be willing to see that their religion, has, does and will do the same.

Paranoia vs. the Governing Body
by parakeet inin my more paranoiac moments, i wonder if the gb creates its myriad nitpicking rules in order to deliberately create a high turnover of jws.
the advantage to doing this would be to ease the way for "new light" doctrine.
the 1914 generation has passed; the generation after that is passing, and their memories are passing with them.

GermanXJW:
***Why paranoia vs the GB? I think the GB is full of paranoia.***
I was referring to my paranoia, which now in the light of day seems a bit much even to me. A relatively stable number of braindead JWs selling mags probably would be more financially profitable to the WTS than the excess effort needed to keep bringing in new converts to replace the escapees.
I guess I'd better switch to Dayquil. -

***Already poised and a good student, the young woman plans to enroll in the Cuyahoga Community College registered-nurse program***
Wouldn't you love to get her as a nurse? There you are, bleeding on a table in the ER. The doctor orders a transfusion. Already poised, the young nurse says to the doctor, "I'm sorry, doctor, but as a Jehovah's Witness, I can't in good conscience follow your order. Let me explain ........" -

Help me come up with some Elder comeback lines...
by jgnat infor the moment at least, my muse has been revived, and i'm wrapping up my book for "unbelieving mates".
i had started to compose a list of common jw excuses and manipulative questions, and their retorts.
it is not finished.

When I told my mother I was leaving JWs after 14 years, she told me that I "never really gave it a chance."

Something Jakes said
by Annie Over ini'v been lurking for a few months, but something jakes said about the 2005 wt caused me to think about what a brother said one sunday in one of the very last talks i attended in 2005. he said, "you have to believe what the society says, even if the bible doesn't say it, because after all, they are your brothers".
i was thinking about going back at the time, but that statement really floored me.. that statement along with the unfair way i was treated has caused me not to go back to the meetings.
but even so, i am still pretty much confused, as i still believe they have more truth than other religions.

Being confused is good. It means you're starting to think for yourself again. Give yourself time, read as much as you can, and keep asking questions. You'll find your way. -

the true path ??
by Ade inthoughts, please indeed proofs of the true faith / church / religion .
backed up firmly by scripture .can indeed any religion be described as having no , idol worship , man made doctrine , conscience controlling of its members.
if not which is the correct way to worship god at this moment in time and that to come.

***can any of you back up your church/hall without any violation of bible rules whatsoever ??***
The bible contains many internal contradictions. There's no way to prove any bible-based belief system because the bible itself is not clear or consistent.
There is no truth path, only the trackless path each person must tread. -

Comments You Will Not Hear at the 7-30-06 WT Study (REMINDERS FOND)
by blondie inor what should we do if humans put their laws above god's?.
we should appreciate god's reminders.
(b) which episodes from the scriptures will be considered in this article?.

Appreciating Jehovah's reminders -- For me, it was like getting hit with the same 2x4 over and over again, with the cong chanting, "you WILL believe, you WILL believe."
Until 2 months ago, I had not read a WT since the late 70s. I'm amazed that they still sound exactly the same. Same writing style, same scriptures, same mind-numbing drivel. -

I no more believe your current description about yourself than I did when you claimed to be LDS. If you don't get yourself thrown off this board entirely, I'm sure in the future we'll see yet more incarnations of Lisa the TROLL.
Your worthless posts are crowding out important topics regarding JW pedophiles and WTS lies, which deserve more attention than your pathetic, grotesque attempts at humor. -

BE AFRAID OF THE ELDERS!!!
by minimus inthe elders now have the right to be involved in every facet of a witnesses' life!
they want your phone numbers, cell numbers, they are to be inquired of if you want to take a sh*t. these "good" men will turn into power hungry masters, if they are not already.
the society is taking control over every jw!

Wednesday and mkr32208:
Check out elderbarry's and Scully's recent posts. This whole thread is EB's sophomoric idea of a joke.
