Didn't the WTS get burned once by publishing a WT with a cover photo of JW children, several of whom later left the cult?
I wonder if the WTS will invite the public for photographs and interviews in the event Ipu or Nelson ever wise up and decide to leave the "truth."

"Critical Hour" JW dies from no-blood policy
by parakeet ini just finished watching a discovery health channel program called "the critical hour," which featured the cases of four trauma patients (9:00 pm, edt).
i missed the beginning of the program, but apparently an elderly jw woman suffered a fall, was critically injured, and her only option for survival was surgery plus blood transfusions.
while she was still able to speak, she refused blood; later her jw husband, accompanied by the ever-present liaison committee jw, also refused the transfusion.

I just finished watching a Discovery Health Channel program called "The Critical Hour," which featured the cases of four trauma patients (9:00 PM, EDT). The woman died.
The most horrible aspect of this case was the smarmy, superior smile with which the husband proclaimed to her doctors that "it isn't that we don't love our [families] ... we love the god of the bible, jehovah, more." Not once during his wife's ordeal nor at her bedside after she died, did he exhibit any distress or grief over his wife's preventable death. Just that smile.
The surgeons did not attempt to change his mind. One thing worth noting was that one surgeon said to the husband that he understood JWs did not accept blood transfusions or BLOOD PRODUCTS--another misinformed doctor! Nor did the husband and his buddy attempt to enlighten him, assuming they understood the WT blood "policy."
The segment was spun to inspire admiration for husband for sticking to his beliefs despite the cost. Made me want to hurl. -

"Ego" da man ?
by Tigerman init occurred to me that one's ego must play a rather large part in deciding, as an adult, whether or not to become a jehovah's witness.. after all, after joining, one then has a purpose in life, a purpose and calling that could not come from any higher source.
to finally understand the bible ( so few people - even religious leaders don't understand it completely like i will someday .
.and now i will be one of just a handful of people on earth to truly know the word of god !

In fact, JWs is the perfect religion/cult for people with "ego envy." -

Elders that don't want to talk about spiritual things
by VM44 insomeone a month or so ago posted a comment here at jwd about how they were surprised that when elders got together, for instance for dinner or some other non-congregational activity, that they seldom or never talked about the bible or spiritual matters.
(if anyone remembers who made that comment, please let me know!
been trying to find the original thread for hours!).

Honesty:
***The elders I hung around with liked to listen to Neil Young and reminisce about the 'Good Old Days' of Rock 'n Roll, acid and free love.***
How ironic. I was a child of the 60s and loved rock. During that time, an elder admonished me about listening to "soft rock" (as if I would!) because soft rock was really "mud." He would have been aghast to know what I really listened to.
It's funny how "wordly" changes definition as the generations age. -

'Time', not a constant in the Universe!
by Outaservice inwhen i was a good ole jw, going out in service, counting my 'time', i noticed something strange.. i could drive to one side of the county, make a back-call, and then drive clear through town as slow as i could and then out of town to the other side of the county to make another back-call.
the total time it took to do this was about 6 minutes.. if i was not out in service and was trying to rush, say to a movie, it took at least 45 minutes to get through town alone!
what causes this phenomenon?.

***For some reason, I don't feel as if I accomplished much in my life up to now***
You're only 100. You've got plenty of time.
The WTS soon will be misquoting a physicist about time not being a constant to excuse all their failed Armageddon dates. -

There's no Gog, no Magog, no Satan, and no Jehovah.
Unfortunately, there are plenty of Witnesses and trolls. -

How Accurate is Your Bull$h!t Detector?
by Scully ini think everyone has a bs detector, but not everyone utilizes theirs, or ignores its warnings.. i find that mine seems very sensitive and unless i "feel" sincerity from the person i am sizing up, my bs detector has various levels of "alert" mode.. in "yellow alert" mode, i tend to be very guarded with personal information until the individual's behaviour identifies whether i should maintain that status quo or not.
this seems to be my default setting, i think, because i tend to use it with all new people i encounter.. in "orange alert" mode, there's something about the person that just is not meshing with me.
they may be trying to cross a boundary that i do not want them to cross, like bestowing a nickname on me without asking me if i'm ok with it first.

Thanks to the WTS, my BS detector is accurate to within a tenth of a point. Every once in a while I'll recalibrate it by talking to JWs. Talk radio also helps to keep it accurate.

Imagine - power to control dreams

Sometimes I have all-night nightmares, during which I wake up from time to time, fall back asleep and right back into the nightmare.
I've found that when I start having the nightmare and wake up the first time, I can stop the nightmare by telling myself to stop dreaming about it and substitute something pleasant instead. Works every time. -

I love all numbers, except for 4,813. Every time I see 4,813, I go berserk. Hey, it makes just as much sense as anything the WTS dreams up.
