Materialised demons... why not?
by LtCmd.Lore inacctualy i don't believe in demons anymore.
but the recent bible teach study caused me to wonder... why does the society think that the demons are not capable of making bodies for themselves anymore, there was no support scripture so i looked it up on the wt library:.
in 1953 there was a questions from readers about why they posess people and animals... they simply stated without any proof that they are incapable of making bodies anymore.. then in 1955 they offer a scripture.. *** w55 10/1 p. 594 par.

UB:
***Most Western audiences look at that stuff with bemusement.***
I beg to differ! Almost every JW I know, including my parents, fervently believe in demons. Every bump in the night, every Ouija message, every haunted house, is caused by demons, in their superstitious little world. -

Best wrong number ever!
by Nosferatu insometimes, it's nice to get a reminder that there are people out there who are crazier than my parents.
this was one of those times.. this morning, i was brushing my teeth when the phone rang.
now, when someone phones at 6:45am, it's usually pretty important.

Shortly after I moved into a small college town, I started getting calls from college-age kids asking for someone named Chris. I told them they had the wrong number. But the calls persisted over the next few months. Every few days I'd get a call from various kids asking for Chris.
It finally dawned on me that they were misdialing the local code--there are two for my town. So I dialed the other local code but used the last four numbers of my phone number. I asked for Chris, and sure enough he came to the phone.
I explained what was happened and asked him to tell his friends to use the correct local code from then on. Problem solved. -

I wouldn't really do this or recommend it to anyone else, but wouldn't it be great to write DA letters with their addresses on them, sign their names, and send the letters to the WTS. Pandemonium ensues! -

Needing advice on recently DF'd neice
by thinkingbloke inthis is my first post so i guess that means i am not a lurker anymore.. i have been inactive for nearly 2 years now, but recently my teenage neice was df'd.
she has moved out of home with another df'd girlfriend of the same age.
i know she is getting a lot of pressure from my family to come back, and of course she would be feeling very alienated and probably confused.

***Only her parents are talking to her and they refuse to help her out financially in the hope that the hardship will cause her to rethink her actions.***
Now there's a good strategy--FORCING her to accept JW beliefs through hardship. It reveals that they don't care about what she thinks; they only care that she agrees their beliefs, even if she's not sincere and is only acceding because she is forced to. Inquisition tactics, minus the rack (just barely).
I agree with the other posters -- just telling her you'll be there for her if she needs you may be enough to get her through her present difficulties. -

See J.R.Brown's answer in latest NEWSWEEK re: giving Christmas gifts to JWs
by AndersonsInfo insee newsweek september 4, 2006, page 12, "with beliefnet.com".

sub-forsanta, a nonprofit organization i work with, donates gifts to families in need every december.

J.R. Brown was quoted as saying, "Also, you might consider providing a service for the family rather than giving a gift. That way, you'd show that you care, but your gift might not be seen as a Christmas present."
It may not be wrapped in Rudolph paper, but providing a service is just as much a gift as a necktie or a sweater. His statement makes it seem like he's conspiring with the "pagans" as to how to give JWs Christmas gifts without their knowing they're Christmas gifts.
And Brown concedes that giving a Christmas gift or providing a service is done to "show that you care," which contradicts the usual WT stance that Christmas celebrators give gifts in the "selfish" expectation they will receive them in return. -

New Blood Info
by chappy innot sure if this has been posted before but:.
american medical association researchers have made a remarkable discovery.
it seems that some patients needing blood transfusions may benefit from receiving chicken blood rather than human blood.

Who is an Apostate?
by thirdwitness inhere is an interesting link http://www.tjdefendidos.org/ and here is an english translation of the article on that site about apostates testimony.
is the testimony of apostates reliable?
sometimes, the mass media offer testimonies of people who used to be jehovah's witnesses as a means of finding out more about our religion.

***Those that have been members of new religious movements during long time and been very have implied but that later they feel disillusioned with his religion, usually throw all the fault to their previous coreligionists or the religious organization in general.***
Most JWs were once members of other religions before becoming witnesses. They became JWs because they felt disillusioned with their old religions, and they now throw all the fault to the old religions, calling them "Babylon the Great." Does this mean we should "seriously doubt the credibility of their testimonies"? Using your own definition, JWs have no more credibility than apostates.
