went to the weeknight meeting this week for the first time in a long while.
the study was all about how having children was ill-advised in this time of the end- the comments dwelled on what a burden children are, how you can spend more time in the ministry without children, and look what they did in jerusalem- they cannabilized their own children!
it's going to be so horrible to watch our children suffer during the great tribulation!
I was at the distict convention in 1987 when the "responsible childbearing" talk was given, and I was a month away from giving birth to my daughter. I remember feeling that people were really looking at me and feeling guilt for being pregnant..as if I was disobedient.
My daughter is 25, a beautiful gift and she, my husband, and I are all out of the organization.

yesterday we had to make the decision to put our cat down as her health had deteriated so much in the last few months ,and especially in the last week.
many of you will know it is such a traumatic experience to go through and very painfull emotionally .. i had never considered myself a cat person , we rented a house ,double story with an outside balcony and next door had what i would describe as an umberella ?
tree ,where a cat sat, and looked over at us at the second level.. it started hanging around the front door and i said dont feed it as it will never go away.
So sorry to hear of the loss of your friend, Daisy.
I love all animals, cats in particular.
It is indeed a loss when they die-they accept us unconditionally and always want to be in our company. That is the definition of a true friend.
When you feel ready, perhaps you can share your home with another kittie friend.

It is common to wonder how you could have been duped into following and not investigating the ever-changing doctrines of the WT. I was "in" for more than thirty years-my husband was an elder for over twenty. We are out together now.
You will go through many stages as you leave; anger, regret, sadness, bewilderment, etc.
Just know that you will emerge from these normal feelings, and that there is plenty of life and happiness ahead when you finally feel free to be yourself and choose new goals in life.

i'm curious, as where i reside there's about to be a major brouhaha over the tax exempt status of a major player in this area.
reading and hearing the arguments from both sides conjured thoughts about the tax exempt status of religions and the arguments associated with that issue.
a significant portion of the arguments related to that issue center around how a tax exempt organization benefits it's community.
They keep many dry-cleaning establishments in business. Just think of all the suits (men's and women's) that are constantly cleaned for meetings.
Many four-door cars have to be manufactured, creating jobs in the car industry because they are quickly worn out by the JWs driving them around, constantly stopping and starting them on Saturday mornings; doors constantly opening and closing.
Businesses that manufacture large sachels and women's bags have a definite advantage when a man becomes an elder or a woman needs a new "service bag."

I just graduated from college at 61 years old with a degree in History. If only I hadn't spent over thirty years in "the truth" I would really be able to use the degree.

Anger at myself because I'd kept my "worldly" parents at arm's length, and now that I was no longer a JW, they were gone.
