How do you feel about "Ultimate fighting?"
by free2beme inbecause i turned a lot of attention to martial arts, after leaving the witnesses, i got a lot of connections with people in the martial arts and fighting world.
i have sense stopped training, after many years and black belts.
what do you think of this fighting, do you like it?

The human body was not designed to take this type of abuse. One only has to look at former boxers to see the effects of constant fighting, and they use padded gloves. Detached retinas, internal injuries, and permanent neurological problems are common. The people who are now taking part in these activities will reap the consequences-if not now, with some of the things described, then later in life. Perhaps the ones who engage in this sport are lacking in self esteem and somehow feel this is what they must do to "prove themselves" or "be a man." I do not know what to say about those who enjoy watching the suffering of others, even if it is engaged in voluntarily. I guess it tells alot about the human condition.

Well, I read your post, but am confused. Are you a Christian? Were you involved at any time with Jehovah's Witnesses? You seem to be against evangelical Christians. What are you for?

My journey so far, thoughts?
by WingCommander ini've been on here nearly 5-6 years (as you can see by my profile) but hardly ever post.
for years i was satisfied with reading your stories and commenting occasionally, all the while telling myself that i was still a dub and would never change.
at the beginning, i was really just curious and also wandering if people out there grew up like i did (in an orwellian hell), and had experienced what i had experienced.

Welcome. I want to thank you for your thoughts as you begin your "journey." I am on the same journey. Your feelings are shared by many here. I know I have not come to any major decisions about holidays, etc. either. I don't want to offend God. But I don't want to support the WTS anymore. That's why my name is Quandry.
Well, I can tell you this. I have been in this dilemma for almost two years now. Been in the pits of despair, but am coming out of it. I am beggining to think that I'd like to put some fun into disfunctional soon. With the holidays coming fast, I am not sure how that will come out, but I am thinking about it every day. I think I might get some of those little miniature winter scenes with buildings that are lighted up. Don't know if I can get all the way to a tree. Since your wife is not a JW, maybe she can go all out and you can just enjoy by observing.

Active JWs, hows KN37 going?
by StillGroggy inhey everybody, i had an interesting time pushing a tract that i don't believe in this weekend.
i had to develop my own method of placing it without having to talk about it, since i fear if i was confronted by someone asking "do you people think you're the only true religion", i might break down and tell the person at the door "no, i don't".
the witness at the door with me would scream in terror, and i would be insta-dfed.

Really, those of you who have gung-ho families that would shun you-you must tread carefully. Patience is called for. I don't intend to judge anyone who feels they must "hang by a thread" so to speak.
I hated the guilt feelings the WTS put upon me while in. Don't allow anyone to make you feel guilt for not wanting to lose your family. We know that at one time we were fully entrenched in the "truth" and might not have listened to anyone. We cannot put blame on the regular dubs who now are once as we were. Time and finding out many facts about the organization is what changed us; and it probably didn't happen overnight.
Kindness is a virtue-let's show it to all.

Maybe there will be a new article in the Awake magazine like the last one about the UN-"Exciting things are happening at the UN. Ask the local witnesses in your area about it."

How many are like me?
by JH ini still believe in god.
still believe his name is jehovah or something like it.. still believe that jesus is his son, and he isn't god almighty.. don't believe in the trinity.
i believe in the resurrection.

Quandry
Yes, just like you. Just couldn't stand the hypocrisy of the U.N. thing, and of course the way many in authority lord it over others as if they did not sin. Of course, there are also the false prophesies, and the doctrinal flip flops. But the core things you mentioned, yes, still believe them (or want to think they are true).
Guess that's why I chose the name Quandry as I am still in one. The main thing I believe is that Jesus died for me and that he never condoned treating anyone in the self-righteous way many of the modern day Pharisees in the WTS do. Would he condone df'ing people for the mere knowledge that the WT was involved in the UN? I hardly think so. I also think he is very angry that the WT would possibly cover up the scandal of molestation of children.

In response to my email:
by lisavegas420 inwhich is here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/122644/1.ashx.
i just got back this reply: oh and another attachment.
these articles i send to you lisa are sent with the purpose of answering any questions you may have, instead they seem to be causing some confusion which is certainly not my intention, the truths of the bible are clear and simple, jesus christ certainly demonstrated that when he was on the earth, so why not compare with what jesus taught along with how he taught, to see who are following his example.. this is the attachment:.

If the WTBTS are not false prophets because they admit to making mistakes, when do they 'fess up to the U.N. association? How about the child molesters scandal? what's the answer to that?

Did anybody else see this crazy stuff???
by drew sagan injw memorials.
not only is this strange, but it is also a huge ripoff.
who would even conceive of such a bad idea??

Actually, I think someone had a good, capitalistic society idea.
When a loved one dies, and a memorial service is held at the Kingdom Hall, there is almost no mention of the person who has died. Perhaps his or her picture is there, and the family members are named, but the entire "sermon" is on the lost loved one's hope for the future paradise earth. It is a public talk given to interest worldly relatives. Sin is the biggest part of the sermon-how we are all sinners and so must die. It almost ends with an "alter call" to any that may be listening to join the deceased one's faith and live in the new world.
I have always left any memorial service at a Kingdom Hall feeling less than satisfied. In many funerals of "worldly people" the families and friends get to get up and fondly recall some experiences they shared with the one who died. Personal information is shared.
Due to lack of remembrance of the person themselves, evidently some enterprising dub is looking to fill that gap. Clever.
