I think modified preaching would be okay for pedophiles. They could be the ones who hold studies at local prisons. That would be okay.
What's that, you say? Pedophiles aren't warmly received in prisons? Oh well, if their really devoted to spreading the good news, I'm sure they'll do it anyways, right?

A "worldly" person chceking in here. Accuracy, if you know you have a known pedophile in your midst your obligation in not simply to the children of your congregation. Kicking out the offender might ease your mind a bit as you've simply distanced yourself from the problem. Instead, you leave that problem out there for all other children to face because you've dried up the opportunity that the pedophile has within the congregation. You've done nothing for the children outside of the organization. Either you want to protect children- all children- from this sort of thing or you don't.
Clearly, the organization isn't much interested in doing their part to make sure that all children remain as safe as possible. Their agenda is to protect their reputation and assets first and at a distant second, to protect witness children. SOME children...mind you! Not all children. Just witness children. Sadly, they don't seem to care enough about them to put policies in place to aid in protecting even the witness kids.
These are the same people who are so concerned about my spirituality that they'll interupt my Saturday morning to preach to me! Where is their concern when they toss out a pedophile without calling the police? They have no problem leaving a predator to my "world" just as long as they've saved their own butts! Kindly stop "loving" me when it's a convenient preaching opportunity all the meanwhile being simultaneously ready to screw me if it means saving your reputation and looking after only your own.
This isn't about protecting SOME children. This is about having policies in place that aid in the protection of all children.

I was thinking about this quite a bit yesterday. Actually, if I had a chance, what I'd like to ask a witness is whether or not god ever used the Catholic church as his organization. Since they have such a brilliant distaste for catholicism, i'd be interested to hear how they explain away the bible cannonization if god never opted to use the catholic church.
While I suspect they'd have to give a little god-inspired credit where ummm, credits due, I'd then probably ask them why god hadn't bothered to notify all other churches that he wasn't using them anymore! Didn't he put israel on notice oh so long ago?

i would like to ask some specific questions about the accuracy of information that i have gathered thus far.. 1) how much do the jws stress on the usage of theocratic warfare.

I can say that my JW friend certainly gave a bang up version of "theocratic warfare" without using the term itself. When I was questioning him about the United nations ordeal, he described the act of not telling information to people who they deem are unworthy to receive it. At no point in our conversation did he say "theocratic warfare strategy" but without a doubt he knew exactly what it was and was more than happy to refer to it in a positive way. My friend is a "lifer" raised in it and he mostly spends his time trying to fly below the radar. He's completely "in" mentally, but I wouldn't say that he's invested much time in really pursuing the arguments or reasoning outside of accepting the most superficial version of Watchtowerese. I think this is important to mention because I would not consider him a savvy apologist along the lines of a YouKnow. In other words, joe Schmo witness may not know the terminology but they sure can throw out this defense at the drop of a hat.
So, while the term might not be common among the witnesses, I believe the concept is very, very familiar to them.
i have to wonder what the average witness today knows?
i guess they are under orders not to talk to anyone that might actually be able to inform them of any facts that are negative or unflattering to the society, but what have they found out anyway, through whatever means, even the publications?.

My jw friend did not know that organ transplants were banned. He was in the organization during that prohibition, but only a wee one at the time.

Lots of different perspectives and lots of different ways of telling stories. Sometimes different ways of telling the same story too!
there will be an nba playoff game on nbc at 9:00 pm est.. this means that dateline will either be pre-empted or shown at 8:00 pm est.. according to my tv guide that i received in the mail yesterday, it is scheduled to come on at 10:00 pm est.. that would mean that it will be pre-empted.. however, tvguide.com shows dateline being scheduled to air at 8:00 pm est.. that would mean that it would air as scheduled.. so, since friday's (may 24) dateline will be the last show until tuesday (sunday's is pre-empted) they should announce at the end of the show what will be coming up for tuesday the 28th.. let's keep an eye on this.. the only thing definite is that it will not air at 10:00 pm est (for all you vcr-heads) on may 28.. my apologies, of course, if someone has already addressed this.

newspapers don't print press releases. The idea behind the press release is that the person/group that is seeking press coverage sends a press packet and/or release to a media source and they assign writers to write the story. That is, if they feel the story will be of interest to their audience.
If you really felt motivated, you could buy ad space and try to get your message across that way. Otherwise, you just have to see if eventually media in your area will pick it up. By all means, keep trying!
