"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character...
by digderidoo in...in all fiction:jealous and proud of it; petty, unjust, unforgiving, control freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty, ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevent bully.
", says richard dawkins in the god delusion p51.
he goes on to say, "those of us schooled from infancy in his ways can become desensitized to their horror".. would you agree?.

Dawg,
I think patience is required here. For years, fighting communism was almost a religion for many in the free world. The game played itself out, and communism lost because it doesn't lead to a good quality of life.
Not so long ago in human history, you could be burned alive for having the conversation that is being had in this thread.
Things are better now. The "shifting moral zeitgeist" that Dawkins talks about is moving forward.

How can we be sure Jehovah is using the WTS?
by Doug Mason inon pages 638 and 639 of its october 15 1954 watchtower, the organization answered the following question:.
how does jehovahs spirit help the faithful and discreet slave arrive at the truth of a matter?
the society does not claim infallibility or inspiration.

I believe there was a watchtower article where the FDS called themselves the "modern day prophets of God".
Does anyone know where that claim was made?
I remember having an argument about this with a friend (we were both JW's at the time), and my friend was saying that they
never claimed to be prophets.

Chalam,
You asked: "If some believes and is on their way to get baptised and is killed do you think come judgement day Jesus will send them to Hell? "
You make it sound as if you don't know the answer.
Our discussion could result in a "religious argument".
I think that is the original poster's point.

My thoughts on the Nature of God
by Doug Mason inwhen we speak of the nature of god, we talk of attributes such as his infinite immutable eternal love.
what joy that should fill us with!
how that should elevate our hearts and minds!.

God supposedly killed every man, woman and child on the planet with a flood. How many pregnant women with innocent children in their wombs died in the flood?
Do you believe these innocent children will be resurrected?

Does Free Will Allow Evil?
by writetoknow inby dr. mark eastman.
" a proper understanding of this issue not only provides great insight into the nature of god, it ties together a comprehensive understanding to some of life's ultimate questions: the answers to my origin, meaning, morality and destiny!.
the christian worldview is an impractical, even phony, view of the cosmos because it embraces a god who is either incapable of stopping evil and suffering, and he is therefore not omnipotent, or is unwilling to do so and therefore a devil!.

WAR IS OVER-IF YOU WANT IT
by proplog2 inchristmas is the time to talk about peace.
jesus is called the prince of peace.. john lennon and yoko ono put out posters that read "war is over - if you want it".. peace doesn't depend on scientific progress.
it certainly doesn't take prosperity and riches to have peace.

The Amish also do not go to war. They are better examples of being "no part of this world".
Considering JW's extensive use of the legal system, I question their "no part of this world" stance. What is more worldly than a lawyer?
