i am sitting here in a study lounge.
when i got here around 15 minutes ago the only ones here were two young ladies and a young man, sitting around a table with their eyes closed.
the young man was talking.
I never understood why christians pray before meals but not other things.
Shouldn't you pray before entering your home to give thanks for shelter?
Shouldn't you pray at least once a day before inhaling thanking god for the oxygen?
shouldnt a christian give thanks before dressing each morning for having been clothed?
Why does food get a special prayer of its own but the other necessaties of life just get lumped in with the generic "thank you for everything lord"?
80% accept blood transfusion.
i added a new article on my blog citing a 1995 medical study finding something interesting about blood transfusion and young folks among jehovahs witnesses.
the study shows that at least 80% (5 out of 6) accept allogeneic red blood cell transfusions or else their witness parents accept it on their behalf and without need of court-order.
As a witness, on two different occasions I ran into worldly nurses at social events.
i asked each of them about JWs whether they refused blood or not.
Each of them told me "most of them accept it eventually". I was stunned both times, my consciense brain told me they were lying, but it was pretty obvious they were being honest. Talk about cognitive disonance, my brain just went round and round in circles on that one.

Perfectly legal, but I would not feel comfortible participating in a business like that.
I like/need to feel really good and proud about what I do.
I try to run my own business in such a way that if i had to make every detail of it public knowledge, I could do so with no shame or embarressment at all. Extra money is a poor substitute for feeling good.

A few years ago I read the book "Shes come undone", it was great, and i highly recommend it.
However, while reading it, I completely forgot who the author was, and at the end, when I looked back at who the author was, I was stunned to find out it was a man, Wally Lamb. I still find it hard to believe that a man could have that depth of understanding dealing with the issues in that book.
Dear Coco, I hope you are not offended when I say I feel the same way when I read what you write. You have a depth of understanding the femenine side of things that is rare in a man.

we also just back from our circuit assembly.. co told us that we have 1700 pubs in the circuit and approx 50% are involved this month in pioneer work.

I know four that were successful in ending their lives.
And one that sliced herself up pretty good in multiple places, even stuck the knife in deep enough to nick her heart, but she made it. It was kept a secret, the congregation was told that she had to have an emergency heart surgery, because her husband is a promenent elder, and good JWs dont do such things.
The problem was that inside the box of sugar was one of G'ma's teaspoons. She ran screaming and hollering at the bear who fortunatly dropped the box and ran. She was lucky. The family was stunned when she told us what she had done.
