Mostly they treat me as though i am disfellowshipped which i am not.......unless they want their windows cleaning of course then it's an entirely different matter.

if a witness sees you, will they acknowledge you, ignore you, be nice to you, or treat you as dead?

my jw mother thinks that all christians (non jws who call themselves christian) are all trinitarian.. i tried to point out that there are certain groups who are not trinitarian, but she seemed to think that all christian groups in babylon the great believe in the trinity.. is it true that only fringe groups reject the trinity?.
sorry for my ignorance but i don't know much about mainstream christianity.. i would like to email her (my mum) a list of religions which reject the trinity but are also christian.
i also heard of groups who believe and preach about jehovah as gods name.. sirona.
Many christians i come across debate this one, some believe and some don't. Not all religions are like the JW's...many actually allow and encourage debate. It's easy to think that all religions have members that have to believe a heirarchy, when the reality is Christians make their own mind up what they believe following thoughtful debate. Bit like Russell really

hi, im new to posting, i'm working on fading out slowly and planning on beggining a college career, but raised a jw, and was homeschooled.
or any scholastic awards, and also money is not exactly growing on trees.
anyone here been in a similar position?
Hi and welcome to the board.
I do not know what resources are available to you with regards to grants etc. It's worth looking into. In the UK we have courses that enable you to get into university without the need for academic qualifications. I don't know if you have anything similar in your country. They usually take a year to complete or two years part time.
There are also many options for online home study degrees. I am registered on one myself, that way i can fit my work around it and finance it that way.

1914 doctrine was a major thing to me at the time i was a witness, i loved explaining it and saying we had the truth.
but there were so many witnesses that couldn't explain it at the time and only had a basic concept as to how they came up with the date.
i wonder how many here could explain and understand this when they were a dub?

one of the hardest things for me to admit, even more than a decade after having cut off witness ties as much as possible, was the possibility that they might be a cult.. i would always tell people that jw's had messed up ideas, that they screwed up people's families, etc., but a cult?
surely i wasn't born into a cult.
the following is one definition i found on the internet:.
About a year or so after i left the borg i did a Sociology college course. Within that we covered the Sociology of Religion where we covered 10 points that defined a cult. As i was reading it i was amazed to find i could apply 9 of them to the JW's. The only one i couldn't was that a cult tend to has a charasmatic leader, on reflection that could be applied the society itself.
This was a real eye opener for me.

not sure if i think scientology is better or worse than the j-dubs.
they are pretty effed up, but at least they don't try to hide behind the bible.. anyone?.
Better or Worse?
It's a bit like asking who's sh*t smells the worst, yours or mine?
Answer is it doesn't really matter they both still stink of sh*t.

to be honest - i've never loved anyone - i'm talking about the romatic type here.
i have liked & been attracted to people....but love, nope.
i have no idea how to identify it.. looking at people in "so called" love today can be a bit deceptive, as what i have seen and still see to a great extent is 2 people .
Looking at people in "so called" love today can be a bit deceptive, as what I have seen and still see to a great extent is 2 people
- changing who they are to suit what the other wants
- playing mind games
- just stuck in a habit of being with someone for the sake of it
- looking to someone else to complete them
- asking a partner to prove their love by some or other action.
Now I'm not prepared to do any other the above.
Any one who acts on those ways may not be in love. The misconception many have of love in my view is that it will last forever. It does in some cases but in my experience it is possible to fall out of love too. Maybe those who act like above have fallen out of love.
When you love someone you just know it. But then you have to work on it if you want to keep it. If you don't then eventually you will fall out of love.
That's just my opinion anyway.
